How long did it take you to become Grand Overlord? (PvP)

From what I can tell you need 64+ million AP.

Question - how long did it take you to achieve this rank?

Since it took me three and a half years to get to rank 17 (whatever it's called), it is unlikely that the game will still be around when I reach rank 50.

I am at rank 36 now on my main, only around 30M or so AP to go to get it.

But, collectively, across all 18 characters, I have earned like 100M AP. So, had I been playing only my main in PVP, I'd be there already, and it would have likely been a a year or two to get there, as I really didn't truly dive into PVP until mostly through my first year of playing, and I eased back for a few years until last year.

the first took a few years, because ap gains were way different pre 1t...last one took a few months..but game is waaaaaaay different now

I play 15 pvp toons, I never stick to one character to get grand overlord. The highest I have is alliance rank 32 on stam sorc. 18 more to go

Emperor grants a red dye, since red is an Imperial color (cf. the Ruby Throne, the Chim-El Adabal a.k.a. Red Diamond, etc.).

Legate Black is perhaps what you're looking for? It takes 30.43 million AP total to reach that rank.

What year is it? I should get 4th star by end of the event, assuming I give a decent push this weekend. I will def get GO by next MYM if not before. My guess is I will grind out the last star before than. I had visions of a massive push this week, but it kind of got away from me. That and the fact that Dark Convergence is sucking the life out of both the event and the server hamsters.

First year in ESO, I didnt really PVP. I then spent the next few years dabbling on my Stamblade, then another year or two mostly on my MDK when solo/small group or on my Stamden when in an organized group.

Finally about 2-3 years ago, I went all in on a magsorc, that is AR rank 46 (about halfway 47). I am not a hardcore PVPer, virtually all of my mSorc play is open world, solo play. I often will put half a dozen toons on the monthly board for transmutes, but otherwise a decent chunk of my playtime is during MYM.

today with mayhem + scrolls/food giving apbonus + ap bonus +20% from delves + new ap system (changed some years ago) ,
In cyrodiil, capturing 1 edge keep gives +8%, so I manage often to lead groups & zone chat to get at least 2 edges keeps which gives +16%
combined to my playstyle, solo kills & heals + generating huge deftics by solo defending keeps under attack by zergs...
and low population bonus on my campaign,

(and i'm Breton btw +1%, but I 'm playing this race for RP reasons, not because of this racial passive. It helps a little tho, 1% of 60M is 600k which is insignifiant)

it's really easy & fast.

Forget battleground if you aiming grand overlord, go Cyrodiil.

I'm close, but after my push to Legate last year my PvP experience grinding has faltered considerably. I've lost the drive to get the rank, and I can't PvP for more than 4 hours without feeling... fuzzy. I just can't stay focused on one thing for too long and have to vary my activities these days.

This is my best guess. I PvP in Cyro for about 2 hours per day, even during MYM events, but I defend a lot.

I was grinding max AW rank for something like 2 years (maybe more, but defiantly less than 3 years).

I got it long time ago, before we had PvP events with double AP or Low pop bonus that also gives double AP. It was during times when it meant something. Not just that you were a "dedicated" zerg - surfer, but that you actually know how to PvP. Back then not many people had it and it was more or less "a symbol" that meant other enemy players would think twice before attacking you.

It is kinda a shame that it got devalued so much.

I do have someone on my friends list who was/is an exceptional bomber. He helped write one of the most used add-ons in PvP and he runs/ran with the most hard core ball group on PC NA. He was able to get GO level in a little less than two months of pretty hard core playing outside of events. So it can be done a lot faster than you might think. I don't think it's mathematically possible to get GO in two weeks though.

Got several characters I PvP'd with, my healer reached the highest rank of them yet, 37.
Grand Overlord isn't a goal, already rewarding when the fights are good. But it would be nice to see the 5 stars one day.

MYM Scroll, low pop on the dead campaigns & 50% war torte, and an efficient pvdoor zerg was an average of 400k AP/HR. 600k to rank an hour.

Got about 20 people GOs (some were maybe half way already though).

Took me almost 8 years (since the game start) to get to 33 on the only character I have. According to the achievements history, my speed is approximately 2 titles (4 levels) a year now, so it will take another 4 years to get to the Grand Overlord at this pace, but I am not taking into account the increase of AP needed for each level, so I guess it will be more than that.
