DoT and Buff Duration - Multiples of 10

As I've elaborated elsewhere... It most definitely is not. :(

I could actually live with a 20 base, unlike many - I have an Elf Bane MagDK that mostly runs on 19 after all, that by itself would be doable.
But hilariously, ZOS only changing half the things and completely ignoring passives that change duration makes the end result less harmonized than before, so I really don't see how that is supposed to make things easier for less experienced players.

And that's before all the other issues with 2 second tick rate and the general DoT DPS nerf.

tbh haven't seen other posts regarding your feelings here, but 5 months after this inital discussion post for harmonization, seemed pretty comically ironic and I felt it was the right time to pull out that stick...

I'm all for making bar swap timings more realtive to playstyle; this 20 second change does some to keep ppl a bit "lazier" in management of their ability timers though. Several PvE mains I've spoken to for Zens DKs feel like they are 100% more support class then ever before, especially given dmg nerfs. For my PvP Frenzied Momentum StamDK the timers are absolutely going to impact more than ever, but I have yet to test my builds in PTS. Thinking Monday with the change to "Sticky" over time abilities retaining 20 seconds but Static over time abilities reverting back to 10-15s we will see. Sounds like the base 20 seconds is already out the window.

Couldn't agree more; I'm calculating much of the DoT abiltiies now and using the 2 second tick seems to be an extreme nerf indeed... lighting flood and flame breath... I just don't know how those will play out now in actual combat.

Mate, making it class specific reduces your build diversity. Harmonizing gives you alternatives for every slot to the point that two for example DKs can play very different from each other.

'Class Identity' died the moment they picked the random skill assortments we still have now. Let it rest.

    This.

Thank you so much for saying this. It really saddens me to see how many people don't get this.

I guess I shouldn't be surprised that long time mmo players fail to see things from a broader perspective, instead of just what they are used to.

Variable timings are not better. They are worse. You're just used to them.

I would prefer everything to be in increments of 5, actually.

    10, 15, 20, 25, 30, etc

I think a multiples of 3 or 4 could also work well.
    3, 12, 24
    4, 16, 32

Skills like Shalks and Daedric curse would use the shortest timer, ground effects the second timer, and "sticky" effects and buffs the third one.

I do think multiple of 5 make more sense, but I imagine warden players wouldn't be open to a 5s shall.

It very much was. I went from pleasantly surprised upon seeing 'DoT Harmonization' to tearing my hair out once I realized a) no they don't and b) all the rest.

I'd say all of the above, let different classes keep different timers.

Warden obviously works well with base 3 due to Shalks (or Subterranean at 6) and the 12s Winter's Revenge, just need to standardize Fetcher to 12s and all is good.

Sorc can be based around 2 or 4, with Bound Armaments on a 4s timer, crystal weapon on 2s, and Haunting Curse on 12. Just make Lightning 8 or 12 and Hurricane something like 24s.

Base 5 is ideal for nightblades with their bow proc timing, so Path and Cripple could be 10 or 15s long.

Weapon DoTs like Wall can just have morph options that deal similar DPS with different timers to match any build, such as 10 vs 12s.

We can certainly simplify rotations without making every class feel the same. I hope they put some effort and thought into this.

The problem with differing per class in that regard would be off-class skill mismatch. We really want more options, not less.
