I liked the new zone and theme byte really dislike that there is no new gameplay edition to combat… new weapons, class, spells, skills. Very disappointed I almost was certain we’d get something this chapter especially with magic weapons as a breton

I'm holding out hope that maybe there is a new guild skill line for the Society of the Steadfast; but otherwise this new chapter isn't making me wish it was already June. The Tales of Tribute card game will need to be spectacular in order to lift this release above the lackluster Blackwood chapter. The art team has hit another home run as the zone looks great so the new chapter has that going for it.

Time to try out Lost Ark or go back to single player TES games. I won't be wasting time and money on something that might end up being good against all odds and against how it has been presented but will I preorder something out of such a presentation, with no strong selling points and with more screen time given to 3rd party board games/merchandise/giveaways nobody cares about, not in the scope of a chapter reveal at least? Like was I watching a chapter reveal or a random advertisement for TES-related stuff but not really ESO-related?

That is in addition to all the usual content. Dungeons/Trials/etc. You're still getting everything else, the card game is just a new system.

I honestly have no idea where the idea for a card game came from. There was a point to the antiquities mini game -- mythic items. Who wants to spend the year playing pazaak?

Card game and new companions...underwhelmed. Apparently "the community loved the companion system"...I don't know any of those community members but I'm sure they exist.

I am one of those who like the companions, however, I hoped for the companion system to be expanded. If the only addition to the companion mechanic is going to be 2 new companions a year I am not paying for it.

Yeah! Where's that romance system I thought they were planning? Or are companions really just going to be slightly more talkative versions of pets to collect?

Right? I think companions made this game slightly more Skyrim-like and that's been good, why not develop more on it and enhance the RP aspect rather than adding a whole new unwarranted system like the card game that people understandably generally were disappointed with? Add more lines, add the romance option, add more companions, add more customization options for the companions, if it's too bothersome just let us make companions out of already existing NPC's and be done with it, easy.

It's good that they've added more companions, but as you've said if the companions are going to be just staying as interactable pets it's not even worth the wait.

I like the new chapter but I wish there was a new solo arena or maybe a 2-player arena and an update to companions to make them more useful. I'm still not sure about the card game. I'm not really interested in pvp and the singleplayer is a storyline so does that mean you can't keep playing against NPCs once the storyline is over? Also, it would've been nice to have a co-op mode so you can team up with a friend against NPCs.

I also think they should stop releasing 2 dungeon DLCs per year and do something like Q1 Dungeon DLC and Q3 New Class, skill line or maybe even a new arena.

Why are people so disappointed, all Blackwood had was the 2 companions and many of you got that didn't you, High Isle is adding not only 2 more companions but also the Card Game and the selling point is the new zone not to mention all the new QOL features we are getting on the way to it's release, I am very excited for this expansion!!!

The last really good chapter was Elsweyr IMHO. Everything since then has been MEH. And apparently the new chapter is not going to break that cycle.,

The card game in itself isn't the issue. The problem is that with the time and the resources spent on the development of the card game so many problems with the game could have been solved, so many things that are much more interesting could have been added...

    Nope.

I don't like card games - with the exception of Triple Triad in Final Fantasy XIV which, for some strange reason, feels really relaxing.

As for the new companion, I am not even going to bother getting the Khajit.

All in all, I'm not buying the new chapter, not even on sales.

I love it, Bretons have been my fave TES race since like forever, and the previews I saw was exactly what I wanted. Thematically it's basically the Everything I Like Most chapter, with knights, nobility and intrigue. The tournament grounds shot legit blew me away. <3

This is exactly the stuff I've roleplayed since ESO came out, so for me it's Perfect! I was super happy with seeing all the new knightly armour sets in the livestream. I don't care about if the chapter is larger/smaller (though I expect it to be very similar to past chapters in that regard), as long as it's good quality. One of my only gripes with ESO as of late has been the overkill on daedra/end of the world events, so if we're going back to more grounded storylines like intrigue and scheming, and humans being humans, with a side of magic and mystery, I rejoice, Wrothgar and Rivenspire were always my favourite zones storywise.

From what I see I'm apparently in the minority but I also really like that card game, I always enjoyed side thngs like Gwent in Witcher, or Triple Triad in Final Fantasy. I think things like that really add to the game as a whole. Not something you do all the time, but something that's fun to do a bunch of now and then, kinda like antiquities for me.

A shame there's no one handed weapon and spell line added though, especially with that elf flaunting it all over the place, so boo for that. But overall I'm very excited for the new stuff!

It's too soon to tell; I personally never played TES Legends, or other card games in video games, so not sure if I will like it, and although new companions will be fun for variety's sake, they don't have any new functionality or customization (that we know so far, at least). However, I think the story will be interesting, and it's great that we are visiting a new location, never seen before. The art team usually does a great job with world building, so I'm looking forward to exploring the new zone.

unwanted account wide achievement system is spoiling much of my excitement for this chapter. Wish they would think things through better so that those who prefer to get achievements per each character could enjoy playing the game the way its always been, and those who want their achievements account wide could be given a global tab.

I guess the question is do i think i will like the new chapter? Then yes.

I began ESO in Beta testing and there hasn't been anything that i didn't like in some way. Sometimes i want more of one thing and less of another, i wasn't thrilled with Deadlands and all the Daedra stuff because I'm not into that, but i enjoyed other aspects.

I can imagine the "knightly/Medieval" Breton areas as my cup-o-tea and hopefully many new furnishings and outfit/armor styles to go along with it. I do like that morally shifty companion so i can hopefully go back to stealing and killing NPC's for fun. I do like the concept of a "gwent-y" card game if done well.

So with the small amount shown, i am interested.

No, they have new storylines and new morality states. Ember will allow more stealing and murdering than existing Companions, Isobel is Lawful Good.

    No.

The island looks nice, yes. And a new companion is welcome.
    But that's it already.

    We did not ask for:
    - card games
    - dual mounts

    We asked for:
    - removal of flaps
    - hiding shoulders
    - storymode dungeons
    - worldbosses and dragons that scale with the amount of players
    - fixing of bugs instead of introducing new ones (how often do I open the map trying to mount? Do my skills not fire as before?)
    - several others

This chapter includes nothing that convinces me to buy it at release or even at prepurchase like the last times.
The island will be a nice to have for reduced price in autumn.

Sadly I'd have to say no. The card game is pretty neat, but I care little for the Bretons, so an entire year of lore for a race and culture I care little for is meh.

    I was hoping for Pyandonea.

Really excited to see Bretons getting more culture added to their lore. I am also a bit curious about the new zone. I've always wanted to see something that blends the geographical features of both High Rock and Alinor. I am a bit curious as to how large it will be.

I could see the card game potentially making pubs and inns more interesting? Taking the optimistic view for now.

Got bits and pieces of this live while at work lol.

Will watch the full thing in its entirety tonight now that I'm home. But based on the bits I saw earlier, it's really a mixed bag.

    Good:
    • The new underwater mansion is SICK. IMO this has to be the best exotic/unique designed home beating out the Snow Globe and the two Daedric/Aedric manors to date. Can't wait to see the best of ESO's community innovation in decorating these!
    • Intriguing MQ and world space for the new chapter.
    • Potential new NPC factions to join (since a lot of political intrigue was explicitly mentioned based on Breton culture)?
    • Player jousts? Player v. NPC jousting? Or was this briefly shown image in the video just part of the immersive backdrop i.e. that jousting pitch is 100% non functional decor? Would be AWESOME if we could do this or even just watch NPCs compete similar to the Kvatch Arena!
    • Achievements are accountwide (although this does have downside for potential player trolling and other game mechanics abuse like teaming up for PvP/PvE stuff)

    Bad:
NO NEW SKILL LINES. BOO ZoS. Please prove my pessimism wrong. That you have some other features up your sleeve to be revealed later
    • Preorder content (mount and pet) are meh. Why even bother with these at all when so many instances of these items over saturate the game??
    • WHY THE NEED TO COPY GWENT AS THE MAJOR SIDE BAR ACTIVITY/MINIGAME? Why this and NOT a new skill line like Antiquities which has HIGH REPLAY VALUE? What if ppl DON'T care for or want to play the new GWENT card game? smh
    • Skyshards are still not accountwide. Which unfortunately makes sense since money has to be made somewhere
    • The new home is insanely OP in terms of size for solo players. Just like the Aeylid ruins manor. Oddly enough, the new manor seems much bigger than the Linchal & Stone Eagle Aerie Manors. Both of which I own and will need to spend a Merthic era just to furnish. Lol. Seems ZoS designed this with groups/guild useage in mind.
    • Seems little in way of performance enhancements? Although the 100MB patch just released today may have attempted to address a few of the chronic issues

Anyone know if there are any more new Companion animations (besides your Companions now being able to share the same mount as you) were added? A few couple new animations more like being able to sit and eat/drink while at a table/bench/chair (with your Companion copying your eating animations) would work wonders for us Solo and RP PvE players.

IMO the horse sharing game mechanic is a great start. And very efficient time wise as it reduces any potential lag from your Companions having to navigate/path find their way to your PC. Which works wonders when you're navigating impassible terrain. Also significantly cuts down travel times as well because they're on the same CP maxed out stam/speed mount as your toon v. the snail paced base game version.
