Have guilds been of any use to you? If so what kind?

Ive been playing since 2015 but that was on another platform, occasionally ive joined guilds over the years but been mostly solo. Using finder, running in pug trials and just generally working a bit harder to get what i needed. I do see the value and enjoy trade guilds but apart from that dont find much enjoyment in other types. But of course thats just me and my journey 😁

I'd much rather run with guildies than randoms.

I've also made tons of mon from guild trader sales.

The idle chit-chat can be nice too.

Zone chat is excellent for getting help for dailies and such, i thoroughly recommend the craglorn community most of all- big props to what they offer everday!😀 . Sadly no guilds aside from the great value of trade guilds, have ever been a good experience so i just do without. Id gamble a little and say i may not be the only one 😆.

Guilds are great!! Besides the comradery, we have contests, group jaunts, dungeon runs and just general helpfulness and fun. Love to read the text chat on my Guilds to see what is going on. Have always been in 5 Guilds since 2015. And, if the Guild has a Discord channel, that is fantastic!

Fishing Guilds have been a waste, as someone sets one up. people join, then no one wants to fish. Trader Guilds were okay until some of them started charging a pretty steep weekly fee (which I understand). So, pick a Guild that fits your playstyle.

While I'm not a social person, I still think guilds one of the best features of the game. I always think of them as an interest group, a collection of people specifically interested in some aspect of the game.

An example I'm in trade guild because I wanted to trade and looked for a guild which good for that, or another guild focused on trial raids to learn and run trials, or a pvp guild for doing pvp, and so on. I always was looking for a guild based on that given aspect interested for me and never looked for 'jack of all trades' general social guild, and I think these special interest group/guild is very well worth being in them...

Sometimes I need help with things which aren't dungeons.
Sometimes I want to do dungeons slowly, not just checking off the quest but actually paying attention to it.
Sometimes I want to do things which need a group without changing to a conventional build, or I want to practice tanking (which I haven't done much and I'm not very good at) with people who understand that and aren't looking for a quick or perfect run.
Sometimes I just want to do group content with people who aren't taking it too seriously so we can all have a laugh together.
Sometimes I want people to talk to while we're all playing different things solo.

Of course it depends on the guild, but that's why the important thing is finding the right guild for you. IMO it's a good idea to have an answer to this question before you start looking for a guild - you need to know what you want from them in order to find one which is worth joining.

I have no interest in being in a trial for the rest of the game so cuts out the predominant type of guild out there these days. No hate towards them and their interest of course. Most have the dungeon skins already so youll get crickets when it comes to that sought of thing in my experience. I already have 18 gold geared characters with all the gear ill ever need or can reproduce from collection farms and my own set crafting house so im kinda doneish. So started a new account to do it again sought of 😆

Answering the question in the title: guild traders.
ESO does many things right but the guilds aspect is not one of them.
One of the two of us definitely has gone mad. It only remains to define whether this one is the whole world or just me.

Besides my PvP guild, I haven't been in any other guilds for over 2 years now (since the Scalecaller update). There's a lot of group content that I would like to do: I would like to learn vKA and vRockgrove, learn HMs, DLC dungeons, getting that "Guardian of the Green" title, etc...

But everytime I look through the guild listings, I'm having second thoughts and I'm like "Maybe not". I guess I'm a little insecure about myself or maybe I'm too much of a loner... Possibly both :p

So far I've just been running with my PvP guild, a bunch of cool ppl I love to play with whenever I'm in the mood for PvP.

    OP: Yes.

    1- Trade Guilds

2- Guilds that run trials and dungeons or have events; it can be helpful to find fills for your runs, or find openings for runs you can join that you'd otherwise miss. Also watching guild chat before engaging is a nice way to feel like you are not interacting with total strangers, if you are shy or quiet.

3- My closest friends and I have our own guild which mostly serves as a custom chat channel; it allows us to easily carry a conversation when we all aren't grouped up together or aren't grouped at all. We have enough people so that we were able to activate the guild bank, which was extra storage and a way for us to share pots, motifs, etc.

4- I was in a PvP guild for a short while which I did enjoy a lot; however their key play times were also when my other friends played, who are more PvE oriented, so I couldn't contribute to the guild which caused me to leave when I needed another slot.

My #1 wish for ESO Today: Decouple achievements from character progress and tracking.

I'm in this game to chill solo, however, I needed a guild for trading. I found one and was very lucky because it's a real great guild. Guildies are nice and fun, so that I'm no more really solo anymore, atop of trading with best possible conditions. So, all in all, on first try, the best possible outcome. <3

I think I fell on my feet with the guild I found, its a social guild that also has a trader. We have fun running dungeons, trials, playing hide and seek, skyshard hunts etc or just nattering in guild chat. I've made some very good friends from the group

Here is a list of things I find useful about being in guilds.

    1) You can ask for help with addons because it is likely at least one other person might run the same addon as you or might be able to help troubleshoot with you any issue you may have going on.

    2) If you are on a lowbie, it is great to have a roster full of people in different zones so you can port to people to discover wayshrines all over the place for free.

    3) Often, guilds will have a guild hall, and these often house every mundas stone in game, a transmute station, crafting stations, an outfitting station, and a place for social gathering, should you wish to participate in any event they might be holding there. It's always good to check with the owner of said guildhall when it is alright to visit and if you are allowed to bring friends or not.

    4) Sometimes you may need a buddy for Imperial City during a PVP event, of your same alliance. Or maybe you need a tank or healer or another DD for a dungeon. It's nice to have a pool of people to fill a party spot with. You might make friends this way.

    5) If you're not a crafter, you could look at your guild roster for guild notes, often someone will list in their note if they are a crafter, and open for armor orders.

    6) If you do not want to see the visual clutter of your guild chat, you can make a tab that excludes your guild chat. That way you can click over to that tab only when you want to.

    7) If you are into housing and am having a hard time finding a certain piece of furniture in guild stores, asking if someone can craft it in guild is helpful :) Often, someone out there can, and if you pay them or provide them materials, and are polite, they may help you.

    8) Sometimes it's just nice to have some people to talk to when you need to vent about something. Often guilds will link to their Discord or Team Speak servers on their home page, and you can pursue social means there if you'd rather.

    9) In the past, ESO has had Crown Store events where you have had to gift X number of people items from the crown store to get a reward. Having people in your guild to arrange this with is helpful.

    10) It's nice to have a guild bank to deposit things you wish to donate to people, if you're feeling philanthropic over that 100th copy of the Dark Elf motif you found while ON your Dunmer ;D

Throughout the years guilds and guildies made a lot of things more enjoyable / possible, from getting into veteran and dlc trials to getting better at trading and having good relationships with people to trade stuff between for a steep or no price at all.

The most useful though was meeting decent folk I'm still in contact with despite broken up / dead guilds to run content with or anything really, even though I started the game thinking I would be playing solo as I was doing in sp tes games before.

As a newer player guilds have been invaluable to me, especially from a trading perspective. I have gotten virtually all of the materials/items I've needed from my Guild Store and not from merchants in the world. Without the guild, I probably would have stopped playing the game out of frustration with not being able to find things I needed.

Guilds can be wonderful, getting a great group of people together and keeping them enjoying their game is a brilliant thing.

Guilds that do that tend to have a very dedicated management team, in my experience the hours put into running a great place to be are huge, often to the detriment of your own game play.

I belong to two such Guilds, I have been with both since early 2015, one maybe since late 2014, we provide a trader but also very much more. It can take many hours to organise housing comps, outfit comps, weekly normal and vet trials, silly trials, quizes and more!

However I am honoured to be part of the team that does that and would never wish it to change!

Shout out to all the dedicated Guild Masters and their officers, I for one know and appreciate what it takes! 💞

    Omg, yes!!!

I'm a guild master now, but when I first accepted an invite to some Nightmothers Darkhands guild, I knew very little about the game. It was only after I joined the guild Discord, truly, that I began to make friends and experience what an MMO really is all about. I learned how to pvp, do dungeons, motif farm, make gold at traders, and then trials.

The friendships can last, too. The original founder and guild master who invited me no longer plays ESO but I play other games with her, and with other guild officers and members. Our guilds (we have 3 under a family umbrella), are mainly oriented to newer players as we offer free guild traders. I pay out of my own gold each week for the trader, with a little help from guild donations and raffles.

Having a community to play ESO makes it 50 times better.

My primary guild has all the tables, vampire fountain, transmute station, etc... which helps with crafting and buffing up before I go into content.

Outside of that guild I am PVP guilds as I moved away from PVE content and have been enjoying PVP as much as possible.

    Pretty much this.

Looking through the forums it doesn’t take long to find threads complaint about the group they get via the GF. Fake roles, bad dps, cannot follow mechanics.

Those that have taken the time to find a decent guild that meets most of their needs are not the ones complaining because they are using the GF to find a random group of players. The guild runs are much smoother on average and generally more enjoyable.

What do I use guilds for? Help with questions, help with fights sometimes, finishing an achievement, social outlet, no fees, no dues trading, help with group content. I get to help other players in my guilds with crafting, extra body to fight, and a handy port to point to help them get around.

I don't know how you would do endgame PVE veteran content without a guild. I suppose you could have 11 friends that play at the same time you do, but if not, you need a guild.

Also love the ability to sell things instead of decon them or spam area chat. Its something that once you have, you don't know how you could live without it

I have found a few guilds that are both congenial and useful.

I would always recommend joining a good guild to new players because this huge game can be overwhelming and a little lonely if you don't have regular playing partners.

For example, I am in a large long established social guild. (Unmitigated Badassery) It is well run, there are social activities (screenshot comps, fashion comps, housing comps) and game play events weekly: sky shard hunts, world boss clears, normal trials, non DLC vet trials and DLC vet trials with requirements that an average player can meet . A weekly raffle and generous guildies ensure we have a trader 95% of the time. All crafting stations, mundus and all other QoL toys are provided at the guild house. Master crafters make gear for guildies and discord has several channels to provide specific combat/build advice.

All of this is done without dues. This is only possible due to a fantastic officer/ founder team. The motto is 'be kind to yourself be kind to others' and we practice that daily. As someone with acute anxiety, I love the fact I can join in with others on my good days and get lots of game progress. When things are bad I am not obliged to participate in anything. A good guild is a wonderful thing and an essential part of experiencing all of the game in my opinion.

I also recommend a stable long established trade guild for those who enjoy things like housing (the real end game) and playing the market (another mini game in ESO) particularly if your social guild does not have a trader.

I am also a member of an alliance locked small PvP guild that is effective non demanding and we have lots of fun small group fighting and a tiny social guild of friends and their friends. Th'ey are my niche guilds.

As others have said, if you want to do end game vet content a guild is almost mandatory , but you don't have to be in a sweaty score pushing trials guild to participate in that content if you don't enjoy that high level of competitive gaming. Plenty of social guilds do that content and get clears, maybe not vet DLC trials trifectas but definitely clears.

The great thing about the ESO guild system is there will be a guild somewhere that suits everyone, the tricky bit is finding your congenial place.
