Will ESO see a graphics refresh?

When World of Warcraft hit 6 years they released an expansion called "Cataclysm" that changed up the landscape in many zones and some major cities were remade. The goal for much of the expansion was a graphic refresh on some older content because as the game gets older there becomes a larger disparity between the original graphics and the current graphics.

Recently my GF and I when playing ESO notice that some of the older zones are feeling "old" now, same as character models. Newer armor/costumes look better than older armor/costumes.
Anyone who does decorating in their homes can see a huge difference in original housing items vs todays stuff. The newer stuff has much greater detail and are seemingly higher resolution. Housing really highlights the disparity between older graphics and newer ones.

ESO is coming up on its 8th year in 4 months. I am curious if there will be any rework to older content graphically. I know this is a huge undertaking and I would not expect everything to get a refresh, but some things in game are starting to feel like they belong in a different game with each new chapter that showcases greater graphic fidelity.

Not hating on the games graphics but since I've been playing since beta I've experienced the gradual changes in contents releasing. I have felt the same exact thing you talk about and it's funny you brought this up now. I started playing with reshade 1-2 years ago and spent so many hours in it and just this week I updated my latest setting wich makes the game outstanding IMO.

Check out the latest screenshots and info on the setting here: https://www.nexusmods.com/elderscrollsonline/mods/147
I really want to share this with other people and hopefully you will like it too. This has made my experience with ESO so much better. Tamriel is such a beautiful world and it deserves a great "graphic boost"

Two things could vastly increase ESO's visuals:
    — Realistic lighting – basically the main thing. Geometry, materials and textures may not be the best, but the lighting MUST do maximum for perception.
    — Refining character models, including: more dense wireframe, realistic skin shaders and detailed hairstyles.

Character models are unchanged, and largely influenced by DX9, but I thought they updated a number of the textures a while back in prep for the next gen console update.

That's just it, probably. The graphics are where they are at because of the minimum systems out there. Once those are removed from the pool, they are free to expand on the graphics.

Character models and base game armors need a graphics update without a doubt. I can get by with the old base game zones not as up date, but im a big cosmetics and customization geek in ESO. Im always wanting to make my characters look cool

Hey I agree with you on some of the older zones being a bit lack luster in regards to 'evolution'.

On a side note; Character's had an update quite a few years back as they were literally 'expressionless' at launch.

Things that need a bit of detail work:
    - Ground textures are very basic in ESO, blurry and have little to no detail
    - Weather is rather non existant be it physically or with the use of soundscapes
    - Older zones could just use some realistic object rework (places evolve, traders come and new services become available)
    - Some newer zones have rather bland environments with straight line streets..it's all rather 'blocky and suburban)
    - New dungeons all suffer from my point above (Blocky and hangar like)

We could also look at what brought us here in the first place (for many of here on the forum):

What made Oblivion and Skyrim in their respective eras:
    - Music, sound atmosphere/ambiance which was in relation to what we were doing (shopping, fighting, exploring)
    - Graphics and rag doll effects
    - Realistic settings (windy roads, beaten paths and all of the above mentioned)

Housing really highlights the disparity between older graphics and newer ones.

Also - some pets - I wanted the Nyx Hound pet for roleplaying purposes but that thing is horrifically bad in terms of animation/graphics quality.
Tenesi Faryon of Telvanni - Dunmer Sorceress who deliberately sought sacrifice into Cold Harbor to rescue her beloved.
Hisa Ni Caemaire - Altmer Sorceress, member of the Order Draconis and Adept of the House of Dibella.
Broken Branch Toothmaul - goblin (for my goblin characters, I use either orsimer or bosmer templates) Templar, member of the Order Draconis and persistently unskilled pickpocket
Mol gro Durga - Orsimer Socerer/Battlemage who died the first time when the Nibenay Valley chapterhouse of the Order Draconis was destroyed, then went back to Cold Harbor to rescue his second/partner who was still captive. He overestimated his resistance to the hopelessness of Oblivion, about to give up, and looked up to see the golden glow of atherius surrounding a beautiful young woman who extended her hand to him and said "I can help you". He carried Fianna Kingsley out of Cold Harbor on his shoulder. He carried Alvard Stower under one arm. He also irritated the Prophet who had intended the portal for only Mol and Lyris.
    ***
Order Draconis - well c'mon there has to be some explanation for all those dragon tattoos.
House of Dibella - If you have ever seen or read "Memoirs of a Geisha" that's just the beginning...
Nibenay Valley Chapterhouse - Where now stands only desolate ground and a dolmen there once was a thriving community supporting one of the major chapterhouses of the Order Draconis

ESO is still supported on the original Xbox One which is a very weak system by todays standards. As long as this console is supported there’s some limits on what can be done to the game.

Personally I’d love to see a complete rework of the game, but it would probably require older systems and stadia to no longer be supported.

I know Rich Lambert preaches "new, new, new" all the time, but I imagine a significant portion of the player base would absolutely welcome an overhaul to some of the launch/base game areas.

    Two things:

1: They need to make it openworld now - loading into 4 areas in one zone (Skyrim) is rp breaking to say the least
    * Also, you could have flying mounts (world is big enough)

2: If they feel they have to keep it this way, then at least update the graphics to Senua Sacrifices level.
    * They could just go Unreal Engine 5 and really do open world right
(They are a victim of coming out with it not soon enough to be a WoW or GW2, and to early to adopt to next gen)

Also... whatever is in the store, should be earnable in the game.
Like WoW you can pay for a month of game time with in-game money (fact)
(or have the balance to buy other stuff - like my son has done...)

Love TES - Skyrim fan (despite the best part being a mod called Inigo cat follower mod - and the actual bug fix mod)
So... Zos (now owned by Micro$oft - can definitely afford to throw some love at this game)

I took a break since Elsweyr - I mean, Im a thief and cant get into like 90% of the houses... of whom all cats are thieves. lol!
Yeah, it may make sense... hah hah - but, there is no content there.

Look at morrowind... I mean, excellent opportunity to update the assassin dLC - no love at all.
People at Zos really love pvp - and not pve rp that much

As people have mentioned, newer zones have more loading than old zones do. It's headed in the opposite direction of what you're looking for. Which suggests there's technical reasons for it.
2: If they feel they have to keep it this way, then at least update the graphics to Senua Sacrifices level.

The answer to the question is likely a yet, eventually. The longer the game continues the more likely it will happen. One thing to note, WoW probably made much more money comparatively and adjusted for inflation at six years than ESO has. It was a behemoth of a game population-wise. Things like that do play a role since reworking the game is not free.

All I really want is the sweet rolls to actually look tasty and not so low resolution compared to other furnishing foods. Same with the bread. Some older furnishings like the fruit and bags and sacks you can get away with without an upgrade.

Would I want an improvement in other furniture? Sure, but the sweet roll looks the most glaringly bad. And yes, I know we’ve got that platter of sweet rolls from the Valentines that looks amazing, but I just want one. And I don’t really want it to glow.

would really prefer the ability to climb ledges(to counter the since launch physics when trying to jump along a wall/rock to get to the above ledge), and get an overhaul in other areas like custom combos like in tera, ie making potentially different skills, redoing research to allow mixing set bonuses, reskin feature for summons(no more monkey/chicken for me>:))

The engine really needs an update. On character models first, then on environment. Once you've walked in a forest in New World when it's rainy and windy and get back to ESO you feel like it's totally outdated and dead all around.
