I don't think this is the case. I mean japanese games have tons of underaged girls and boys and it never was a problem to anyone. My understanding is that it was a deliberate decision due to players being able to do not nice things to them, killing them probably being the least of it

Children's immortality never was a problem to me, I didn't even install mods to fix it. The problem was in their similarity, basically they had one or two face presetsAs much as I'd agree that children being in the game would make the world feel more real, ZOS will 100% never do it for similar reasons that Bethesda didn't do it in the single-player games (and when they finally did in Skyrim they made the kids immortal gods).
Except it wouldn't deepen my immersion, nor do I see how it expands the writers scope.
I'm quite happy without kids and quite frankly hope it stays that way. There are a lot of role players in the game, would you feel comfortable walking into an Adult Role Playing session where some of the characters are teens? No, neither would I. And thats why there are none in the game.
I don't think it is widespread (if by saying "adult RP" you mean two naked characters lying on the bed). And besides, why would they do this in random house with children in it? I don't understand it. *shrug*Even NPC would you be happy walking into a room where there are children and there is an Adult Role Playing session going on? Again, I wouldn't be comfortable.
I'm not condoning the Adult RPing but it is going to happen wherever there are real people involved. Therefore you limit its scope. No kids is just the best solution.
I agree, I don't get it, but it goes on.
Are child NPCs in games that unusual? I think most of the RPGs I've played have children, including 18 rated games like the Dragon Age series and other MMOs. I'm surprised to see so many people responding as if it's something unheard of or never done before and could have all kinds of bizarre and unpredictable results.
I also think a lot of the problems raised already have solutions. We already have many NPCs who cannot be killed or even attacked by players. As for eRP or whatever else if that's not a problem with the prostitutes in some of the taverns and other NPCs I can't imagine it will be a problem with child NPCs either.
As well as basic world building; making the world feel more complete and lived in rather than simply a background for granting XP it would make some of the quests less absurd - being sent to find and rescue someone's 'child' who is actually a full grown adult but acting like a child.

It could vastly expand writers' possibilities and deepen player's immersion.

Absolutely not. Short women are still women. We deserve to dress however we please. Those characters are not toddlers, they are full grown women. And there are real women out there that are small, it don't make us any less of an adult.
I'd say it is a matter of writing. You can create good character everyone would love, or the one no one can stand.lolo_01b16_ESO wrote: »Imagine instead of Stuga you'll have 10 children following you, asking you to find their puppy, parents, doll or bring them back home. Do we really want that?
I remember playing a few games that had children in them and in every single one they just were annoying.
