Heavy Attacks acting up

Is heavy attack feeling 'clunky' for anyone else? It wasn't quite smooth as butter prior to this current update but they were working for the most part. Post-update though, there is stuttering and even instances where the heavy attack completes itself after I've started and then let off to refresh a buff or cast something else.

Since update 32 - This is in regard to BOTH Lightning Staff and Resto Staff heavy attacks. Starting a heavy attack in many instances is causing a lock-in as a full heavy attack even when you let off the mouse button in order to do another action. Transitioning into a heavy attack after another action is not working as normal in most instances when the mouse button is held down, as it is not being registered, leaving the character standing there doing nothing. This forces the player to let off the mouse button and reapply pressure to reinitiate a heavy attack action where you cannot currently be certain it will work because of stuttering or again locking into a full heavy attack without holding the button down. Releasing a heavy attack while mid-attack in combat to block, heal, or commit another action is not reliable as initiating a heavy attack is often locking into the full heavy attack animation.

It feels like it is getting better but not much. I am not seeing the locked-in heavy attack animation nearly as often. The transition of a heavy attack into another heavy attack, or using a skill and then transitioning into a heavy attack is still random as to if it will work and I will need to reapply the attack button. I am finding that double use of a skill will 'usually' allow the transition into a heavy attack after the second skill use. The double skill use is definitely only a bandaid though.

Heavy attack is still acting up and making the use of a lightning/resto staff unreliable in any gameplay mode. I've about given up tanking for the time being and have just been playing solo. PvP is not fun currently since I keep getting locked into heavy attacks and taking enemy weapon swings to the chin for it.

Still acting up, just not as often. I'm finding that I am able to reproduce the issue. It does not happen 100% of the time but it does happen more often than is healthy for any heavy attack build that uses lightning/resto staves. Start with the reticule on the target, then move the reticule off of the target after starting the heavy attack. I'm posting a video of it happening. Every time I move the camera to the side, I am letting off the mouse button completely. I am only holding down on the button to initiate the heavy attack. It is possible to block and/or bash to cancel the animation, but healing and using other skills is impossible until the animation has been completed despite releasing the button.

    Yep, same exact thing, and yes, most noticeable with lighting staves.

    Noticed that with my lightning staff. Keep getting stuck in heavy attacks quite frequently as well, which hasn't happened in months.

    I use Critical Rush a *lot*.

    The last few weeks it seems that, no matter where I stand w.r.t. distance from the target and well within maximum distance allowed, my attacking 'toon will frequently unsheath melee weapon, pause, resheath, and just continue to stand there.

    When that happens I have no choice but to have to mash the ability button several times before I get a full attack, and often the situation changes to my attacker being seen and getting targeted.

    It happens when attacking stationary targets, too, I checked, so it's not always a case of a moving hit-box moving outside of the targeting reticle.

    It's really thrown timing and attack success way off.
    The problem with society these days is that no one drinks from the skulls of their enemies anymore.

    Yeah. Heavy attacks (On a lightning staff at least) seems to be completing even if you release them early. So once you start one the game is finishing it whether you release LMB or not.

    I've been having the same issues with heavy attacks and to make things worse there is some serious delay between pressing a button and the skill going off with the PC Gamepad interface.Half a second at least.

    Hmmm... Can this cause HP desyncs? Because once I've died in a very strange way and even replay vid didn't explained it at all I have 25k hp on the vid, I recieve one 5k hit, one 7k hit and I'm dead. Nor addons, nor replay vid shows any additional hits.

    Not sure. Will try and test later. But of course I can't get it to replicate right now when just yesterday it was happening constantly. I found it happened almost every fight on the duke of storms in the deadlands portals.

    • Trash Potions when feeling cheap: Regular CP150 Essence of Magicka pots that I obtain frequently from playing the game or Crown Tri-Restoration Potion obtained from dailies.
    • Crafted Potions: Essence of Spell Critical (Bugloss, Lady's Smock, and Water Hyacinth). Without magelight this is my primary means of obtaining Major Prophecy on my Sorc, which increases my Spell Critical Rating. This also heals and restores magicka. Essence of Immovability (Columbine, Corn Flower, and Wormwood). I use this in PvP, since this gives me stealth detection, knockback immunity, and restores magicka (better to use it when competent allies are nearby, since it might reveal that you are surrounded by multiple players in stealth and you will not have an emergency pot available after use). Essence of Invisibility with only 2 ingredients (Blue Entoloma, Namira's Rot, Nirnroot, or Spider Egg). I use this in PvE content that requires stealth and if I need more speed I'll use Rapid Maneuver before using the potion. Essence of Invisibility with 3 ingredients (Blessed Thistle, Blue Entoloma, and Namira's Rot). Very useful in PvP alongside the vampire Dark Stalker passive, since you'll be invisible, ignore movement speed penalty while in Crouch, and you'll have a 30% movement speed boost from Major Expedition (I always have this slotted when riding from point A to B in PvP land, since gankers are always lurking). My templar will mostly use Essence of Health (Tri-Stat Potion) Ingredients: (Mountain Flower, Columbine, and Bugloss).

    Yes, here too. It is annoying to say the least. Makes you wonder what changes cause these type of bugs. FIrst the slow unsheathing of your weapon after the Q3 patch, now this...

    I tank as a magcro, usually with a lightning staff. This bugged-out heavy attack fiasco just got me killed by a boss. There are numerous instances now where I am not allowed to block because the game is completing my heavy attack when I have stopped attacking. This means I CAN'T block to prevent a mechanic from hitting me.

    Yes I'm having the same problem. Before that patch I had no problems with weaving light or heavy attacks. Now:

    When light attacks weaving sometimes randomly my char will start to heavy attack even though I'm not holding down the mouse. And what's worse is when this happens I cannot cast any skills, the only way to stop the animation is by holding blocking + bashing combo.

    When I trying to heavy attack, my char does nothing. They will just stand there and skills stop working. I'll have to keep spamming heavy attack or block + bash combo to make my char finally attack.

    I suffer from the same issue with medium/heavy attacks, but I do not have this graphics option available (since I only have a GTX 1660 Ti which does not support it).

    HA is acting strange even on stadia... way more noticeable with lightning staff - keeping button pressed usually starts next HA, now not every time; continues even after buton is released.
    PC and stadia with controller.

    Not sure about that case, but I've been seeing WAY lower resource return from heavy attacks since the Deadlands patch.
