I say keep the mudballs, but get rid of the infinite mudball pouch. (I used to have one on my old character and have no idea how I got it)

To be honest I don't see any harm in allowing its use. They definitely should remove its effects when at an outfit station. But otherwise? What's the real harm. It lasts just a bit and then gone.

The harm is that players are being forced to participate whether they want to or not.

What would be the harm in giving us a toggle?

You don't. If you see the person throwing it, or see it incoming, you can dodge and it will miss.

Wow I could never imagine being that hyper-aware.

I don't know if the majority of people want a toggle. Since they've introduced these events, the game is doing the best it's ever done. These events are a big hit, most players enjoy them, and the mudballs and flowers are all harmless and don't effect or impact the player or the character.

I got hit once yesterday going through town... no big deal. But once someone hit me repeatedly in an attempt to disrupt me from opening safeboxes, while calling me names in whispers, so it's not always "harmless fun".

Until I started reporting the person who was mudballing me 10x in a row every time they saw me at a wayshrine... multiple times a week.

It's one thing to have a mudball fight with friends. But people who hang around wayshrines, quest givers, crafting areas, etc and mudball "everyone" (or 1 person a LOT) are annoying. My Argonian still gets the most mudballs, because certainly no one in ESO is *racist*...

    yeah, sure. whatever.

That is harassment beyond the mudballs. That person needs to learn to respect boundaries

And, can we make it so other people can't force you to pull your wrapons out. I hate running through Rimmin and some idiot needs to play with their (I think) resto staff and my character slows down and draws weapons. I'm on console and have challenges running and putting weapons away at the same time. Other people shouldn't be able to impact my character.

I'd love to see the flowers go, too. I have a friend who tosses them at me every single time we are together even though I've asked him repeatedly not to. I stopped hanging out with him for awhile because of it, and now he only does it once, but that's still too much for me.

If others find this fun let them do it to each other, but those of us who just find it annoying should have a toggle so we don't see the effect.

That's not a memento problem, that's a "your friend is the problem" problem, just because you have a friend who doesn't respect you when you ask them not to do something. Sort your friend out and leave the memento to people who actually enjoy it.

Opt your friend out from being your friend if they don't respect you enough to listen to you.

    The memento doesn't need changing.

No one asked to change the memento. We would just like a way to toggle the effect off, the same way we can auto decline duels for example.

I've mentioned before I don't use the mudball, or weird bird thing, or etc, but I don't mind if someone hits me with one. Honestly I think it's hilarious how my characters get all indignant and in a huff. The challenge comes from people who take it too far, and harass others with it. I'd be quite OK with a toggle, as mentioned earlier, similar to duels. I'd leave mine on, but people who hate them can be left in peace.

I guess this is what happens when mom and dad leave the 12 year old boy alone in the house and he logs into ESO. 😂
ESO is the LAST thing a 12yo boy thinks when he's alone in the house 😂

I think it's fun when done during the festival and everyone's being a bit silly. Outside of that context? Not so much. I do think some people use it to troll others, for example when they do it repeatedly to a level 4 newbie who knows absolutely nothing about these festivals.

Throw a mudball right back. Or dodge them. It can be done.
I usually toss a pie back, it's much more humiliating.

This. Toss something back and move on.

Of all the things that players complain about, mudballs and flowers are the last ones i thought would annoy anyone.
Seriously, why having your bunch of pixels caked in mud or fashioning a flower crown for a few seconds is worth even getting pissed when it affects in absolutely nothing?

I'll just keep throwing mud from the top of the forge in Vivec as always :P

Imperial City will teach you things... but even the Spindleclutch boss turns to you and does a projectile without having a red circle at your feet to obviously warn you. If you can react fast enough, you avoid a bunch of inconvenience mechanic. I wouldn't consider that hyper-aware, but it's all relative I suppose.

While I agree that harassment is inappropriate, the blanket idea of "no one should make an impact on me" doesn't seem to make sense to me.

Waiting for a dolmen myself and a friend often get in mudball fights with each other - except for my Orc Chef - she throws pie.
Tenesi Faryon of Telvanni - Dunmer Sorceress who deliberately sought sacrifice into Cold Harbor to rescue her beloved.
Hisa Ni Caemaire - Altmer Sorceress, member of the Order Draconis and Adept of the House of Dibella.
Broken Branch Toothmaul - goblin (for my goblin characters, I use either orsimer or bosmer templates) Templar, member of the Order Draconis and persistently unskilled pickpocket
Mol gro Durga - Orsimer Socerer/Battlemage who died the first time when the Nibenay Valley chapterhouse of the Order Draconis was destroyed, then went back to Cold Harbor to rescue his second/partner who was still captive. He overestimated his resistance to the hopelessness of Oblivion, about to give up, and looked up to see the golden glow of atherius surrounding a beautiful young woman who extended her hand to him and said "I can help you". He carried Fianna Kingsley out of Cold Harbor on his shoulder. He carried Alvard Stower under one arm. He also irritated the Prophet who had intended the portal for only Mol and Lyris.
    ***
Order Draconis - well c'mon there has to be some explanation for all those dragon tattoos.
House of Dibella - If you have ever seen or read "Memoirs of a Geisha" that's just the beginning...
Nibenay Valley Chapterhouse - Where now stands only desolate ground and a dolmen there once was a thriving community supporting one of the major chapterhouses of the Order Draconis

I love the mudball emotes personally. The interactive emotes in general are hilarious. If its not the mudball, its the cherry blossom crown, or the alliance pies or snow balls. It's a multiplayer game so you just have to take the good with the bad. Leave the zone or change instances if someone is harassing you.

Being a multiplayer game isn't a free pass to behave badly. No one should have to stop what they are doing because they are being harassed. We do not have to just accept bad behavior.

That's true, you don't have to accept it. But like it or not, mudballs and other interactive items are part of the game and part of what makes playing with other people fun. What fun would a game like this be if there was simply no way to interact with others? The key here, IMO, is that if something is bothering you, just be the bigger person and leave the area, find a different instance. Seriously, its really not that big of a deal. And your talking to someone who gets hit with mudballs, pies, snowballs, and cherryblossoms on an almost daily basis.
