I just played a brand new robbery game. I was amazed by the difficulty of door locks it offers.
I was stacked almost on every door I met there. It made me want to open it even more.

Current state of ESO overland doors is just boring. You can open any door literally in one second whichever level your character is.
Just imagine, you can open the door with one finger move. It is nonsense and totally unrealistic.
  • Door should check your stats. Low stamina? You have to spent at least a minute to open it and get a debuff after it.
  • Door should be a challenge. We have an amazing idea of dungeon doors, which are blocked until you kill the boss. Please add the same mechanic to the crafting and vendor areas. Need a meal? Fight with angry cook to death! You don't even know what has a smith prepared for you.
  • Door needs to be pro-active, have it's special attack plus millions of HP. Player must open it in block, interrupt it's resistance, roll dodge the moment when it opens. Failed? You got hit by door. Spend your soulgem or go for a walk from wayshrine.
  • Door have to be locked well. It should be a fortress. Did you try to enter a real bank in the midnight with your backpack full of weapon and poisons? It must require full stack of alchemy explosives to open a bank door in ESO. That's how visiting bank could make you feel alive.

If you told me that door is not the main thing in the game, the only way we would check it is adding a good loot drop for doors. Try it and we'll see.

I hope developers will address this issue as soon as possible.
Next time we'll talk about buffing material nodes with poison traps and daedric curses.

Good luck attracting new players and casual gamers when all of the game content is locked behind your buffed doors. Has anyone even done a study of players who can solo doors Vs players who have QUIT the game due to power level creep in the doors that already exist in the game?

ESO is a game for all player levels and its doors should reflect that. Not to mention the fact that making all doors essentially impassable at low levels totally breaks the immersion for the roleplay aspect of the game.

This part deserves quoting. Sometimes an Awesome isn't enough.

Sounds good to me. Its a good start, then we can have invisible trap doors, roaming packs of wild doors (elite ofc) and maybe we can go a little bit farther and make a whole zone dedicated to buffdoors, something called Cragdoor perhaps?

Sorry but the lock picking mechanism in this game is incredibly stupid and overly complicated. It's only purpose is to slow you down until you can reliable force locks, which not everyone has because leveling Legerdemain is both annoyingly long and hard to do on non NBs.

I wish it was like Skyrim.

I feel like locked doors and the justice system as a whole are completely ignored by the large majority of players, once you level it up you'll just try to skip it because it feels tedious for the extremely lacking reward system.

For example I only do it when there's worse endeavors dailies in the daily pool, which is rare btw.

If they revamp the system with stuff like this thread's suggestions, ZOS should have to make sure to add much better rewards or it's not gonna work.

I love the idea of roaming packs of wild doors.

With doors into Inns should teeny tiny wood elves get a special attack due to being able to walk underneath a saloon door?

Are we talking about veteran doors here? Hope so, since many players already struggle with the normal ones.

I am pretty sure that some doors should stay invisible and sneak attack those who think that there is just an open gateway.

I think they need to super-buff all those little monkeys in Malabal Tor and give them weapons.

Actually, drops should be Lockpick Repository Key Fragments. You need to combine 10 to obtain a Lockpick Repository Key. This can can be used to gain access to one of the the Lockpick Repositories in Imperial City. NPC's in Lockpick Repositories will sell you a lock pick for 10,000 Tel Var Stones. Their inventory is limited to 10 lockpicks and is replenished on a weekly basis.
