I've not really had an issue with this style page. I spent around 1.7 million gold on treasure maps, bought 44 the other day and another 30 yesterday, (never bought a map for more than 30k). Dug up around 80 ish maps (including ones from reward boxes) over a couple of days and I've had 21 motifs drop.
11 to learn and the rest to sell on and only need 3 more to complete the motif.
Ah well, finally purchased the last missing page for only 135k.
I'm now up-to-date with all motifs, that took long enough.
Treasure hunting brought up only 1 page, spent 6 maps. Pointless.

I've read about it in a thread about monster trophy achievements. Every time you log in, loot tables are generated for that session. It affects monster drops and effectively makes it so that you'll either repeatedly get certain drops, or not at all in hours of constant grind. It seems to affect even the treasure maps. In some sessions I get a lead every 2-3 maps, in others I can use 15-20 maps and get nothing at all. The only problem is that you can't know for sure what kind of loot table you got until you use at least 3 maps.Have the leads stop dropping? I have used 15 treasure maps over the last 12 hours or so and did not get a single one. I can see the guild traders are flooded with dug-up pages at the moment. so did ZoS turn off the leads drop temporarily or something?

Let me grind Chests or other containers in a zone so I can at least grind for the Treasure Maps. Otherwise its RNG to get a Treasure Map in the first place, RNG to get a Blackwood Treasure Map, RNG to get a Lead, and RNG to get a lead for something you haven't gotten before. And I know that last one can partially be circumvented by not finishing the lead until you have them all but that means you only got 30 days do finish the whole thing which some people can't do. Just RNG on RNG on RNG. At least remove one of them.

If I have understood how it works correctly not digging the leads is actually counterproductive.
The way I understand it if you get a lead from a chest for a page you already have a lead for then you get nothing. It doesn't 're-roll' and give you a different lead, it just gives you nothing at all.
At least you can dig and sell duplicates, this is better than not getting anything no?
I'm the source of the claim that deliberately keeping duplicate leads doesn't increase the chance of getting other leads. I don't think anybody can come up with large enough sample size due to scarcity of maps, I only managed to test it with Khenarthi's Roost maps before and the method of not excavating never improved my chances of getting the last missing motif page or even the tapestry furnishing that can drop from treasure maps too. The only thing it did for me was saving some time that would be otherwise spent running to excavation sites and trashing unwanted pages.paulsimonps wrote: »Hmmm I heard the opposite. Anyone got source for either claim? Curious now.

Maybe there is some sort of cooldown? Or again some very bad RNG
3 more maps brought up 2 pages for me.
