Ancestral Akaviri Style

I was hoping to be able to complete (or make good in-roads into) gaining the Ancestral Akaviri Style pages with the Blackwood event. Whilst I have had some Blackwood Treasure maps drop, they don't always give a style page. I realise that this is RNG but it is really frustrating to have these style pages locked behind double RNG. I was wondering if I am just unlucky - or is there some sort of internal cooldown that I am not aware of?

I don't even like the style - but as little as I've done in Blackwood I've got four pieces on one account and five on the other PC NA. EU I haven't got any yet, but I don't play there as much.

The rng for these leads from Blackwood maps has been really poor for me as well. I think since the chapter dropped, I've dug up about a dozen maps, and only one has given me a lead.

It seems like every second, third, or fourth map has been giving me a lead, but unfortunately I've gotten a duplicate or two. At least I should be able to start doing some of the master writs now.

Haven't got any lead so far from Blackwood and just a single one from the Reach. Stopped counting the treasure maps after the twentieth... If 1/20+ is the intended drop rate, I'd be a bit disappointed. But I suppose I just didn't receive the blessings of RNGesus.

Got two this morning, out of ~4 treasure maps. So, yeah. Yay, RNG?

I also got tired of map after map of nothing.

If I get 5 nothings to 1 style, I may as well sell the maps directly instead of trying to dig them up.

The maps dropped in value a decent amount. From 50-60K a piece down to 20-30K. I bought around 1M worth of maps for around 25K a peice last night. So far only farmed 6 of them and got 4 Akaviri motifs. 2 I knew and 2 I didn't. I have a feeling I am going to make some decent profit on my 1M gold spent when all is said and done.

Finally got a lead yesterday ... was for the staves, the only page I already have. 14 pages and the RNG go for the only one I have -_- (and it's not the first time, the Ancestral in Markath zone gave me torso 2 times in a row when I was still missing the others 13 pages.)

TY Zos for this awesome system. A first layer of rng to find a map, then a second one to have a lead, then a third one to have the good lead. Really funny.

How about scaly cloth scrap for even “better” RNG. Need 50 pieces and most of the time, enemies in that dungeon don’t even drop loot.

Used four maps so far. No Akaviri motifs.

I’ve excavated around a dozen Blackwood treasure maps this even but so far only one style page. I guess my RNG has not been great? So it goes — congrats to those of you on the other end of the normal distribution!

It is a good time to brute force it by buying up any reasonably priced maps and just digging until the codex is done. Take any extra motifs you get, sell them and use the gold to buy more maps.

I'm not sure it's possible to get the entire motif codex just through maps you earn yourself, at least not in a reasonable amount of time. You'll need to source those maps elsewhere and now is a good time to do it.

Got some more maps from the event coffers, but no luck. Started counting again, right now my lead rate is at 1/26.

For the scaly cloth scraps its a bit better. I was running this dungeon yesterday for about an hour and got 5 of them.

That's a crazy low lead rate. I've now burned through maybe 30 maps, and have gained all but 4 leads, multiple dupes. I mentioned I spent 1M gold on maps, I am now back up to 400K in sales from the dupe pages I have received and still some in the trader for sale. Still have like 20 or so maps left to farm I believe.

Opened 41 coffers today, 3 maps, no leads.

Frustrated at just how much of a time investment of mine had just been flushed down a toilet, I went and spent a decent pile of gold on 5 more maps. No leads.

This kind of nested RNG isn't something you do on accident, and it's never, ever something you do because you want your players to enjoy your game.

Been an issue for the whole antiquity system for awhile now, sure we get weighted rng for other loot drops next patch but i never wanna spend a month farming nodes in one zone ever again, you don’t get RNG that low unless its done on purpose

I'm not sure how many maps I used, probably close to 40. Got 6 leads, one of which was a duplicate. With 5 days left to go, I don't expect to collect more than maybe 8 out of 14 codex entries. It's rather demotivating going forward, knowing that this event supplied us with a year's worth of random map drops if not more. I really don't want to spend too much gold on maps, it's just not worth it for a single motif.

Honestly, as someone who has completed all the content in every zone, and most of the achievements in the game, I really don't mind having to do a bit more to finish up some motifs a few times a year. All the other leads for the antiquity system can mostly be knocked out within a week or two of the content release. Keeping these motifs on the rarer side at least keeps it interesting. And even so, prior to this event I maybe found 3 leads total, and bought 1 page from a trader that was priced super low. During this event, I have now scryed for all but 1 page, very elusive daggers. The maps now drop a lot in the event coffers so the prices have gone way down. And the pages are still selling for 100K or so. It makes it almost profitable to buy up a bunch of maps in the 20K range and farm them. Which is what I did. Farm the maps while also farming the extra drops from resource nodes.

No pesky events to water down the experience either, is just joyous RNG all the way down.

Ah well, finally purchased the last missing page for only 135k.
I'm now up-to-date with all motifs, that took long enough.
Treasure hunting brought up only 1 page, spent 6 maps. Pointless.

You have done well. But myself and others not so much. I have farmed purple boxes and also bought maps and still am not getting the style pages. You say that it keeps things interesting but from my perspective it is is disheartening. Anyways, thanks for all of the replies.

All the ancestral motif sets are a pain and the system needs assessing and reevaluating.

Completed the entire set yesterday.

The cost was just over 1.5 million gold.

That is what the chest piece alone would've cost me before the event.

I'm quite happy with having an updated samurai type armor with all the related weapons.

Who knows, maybe they’ll improve it.

They are making dungeons way more rng friendly

I've not really had an issue with this style page. I spent around 1.7 million gold on treasure maps, bought 44 the other day and another 30 yesterday, (never bought a map for more than 30k). Dug up around 80 ish maps (including ones from reward boxes) over a couple of days and I've had 21 motifs drop.
11 to learn and the rest to sell on and only need 3 more to complete the motif.

A small tip for leads. If you are looking for only a few remaining leads, don't scry the duplicates and it will prevent the duplicates from dropping. It's a decent approach if you don't mind losing out on the resell pages.

I suspect it works like the horned dragon pages from battlegrounds boxes and when you'd roll something that is already an active lead, it gives you nothing instead of rerolling. I tried this with the 4 pages that drop in Khenarthi's Roost and it simply resulted in less new leads towards the end.
