Reduce cost glyphs + new Ash Cloud

The reducing enemy Movement Speed by 70% helps them stay near by for when I do get in range. Now if I miss, I will be penalized for missing because I will miss the upfront damage or If I go too quickly, I want be able to use it effectively again for 10 seconds. Thus, killing the skill for me.

    It’s the upfront damage is what makes this skill worth running. Never miss placing it on a boss but on adds I do sometimes. If I must replace it for adds then I waste a global cooldown for no little damage. 10 seconds cooldown is a long time for a skill. Don’t really know why ZOS must insist on these types of minigames on DK class such as stagger, poop fist.

    I agree, if that is your intended purpose then there are much better options (even on live). Scalding Rune for example would be a better choice and it comes with lower cost and extra regen through mages guild passives.

    I'm starting to think this is intended since it's still not fixed in PTS 7.2.1.

    Balance changes are typically every other PTS note.

    I can't really see much of this staying as is. But who knows, the same crew gave us Hrothgar and DC. :)

    Yeah over powered is always a great change, ;) It is nothing compared to the mag/stam regen from how often you can proc burning and poisoned with a half second cooldown. Realistically, that is 2K regen. Perma-block be back baby.

    Which makes using cost reduction glyphs to get ash cloud to free a parlor trick, and a complete waste of time. Why bother giving up damage when you have more regen than you can use already?

    @kojou Probably not, I think they try to avoid percentages where they can, since it's easier for the server to calculate with a flat modifier. Plus I don't think they would change a whole jewelry glyph just for one or two skills.

    Thanks for the suggestions but I have tried both and they are inferior in several ways to Eruption.

    1. No stare or AOE component
    2. Need to wait 2 seconds for the fire rune to go off plus the area is small at 3 meters and it’s easy to miss or for targets to move out of the small area before it goes off.
    3. No benefit from class passives.
    4. If they insist on a timer, they could at least lower it to 3 seconds, 10 seconds is a long time. With the states reason for the long cooldown is to prevent it from being to powerful of and AOE it doesn’t really make sense to me. Just look at Necro’s blastbones and Wardens shalks, NB’s drain power, Templar shards, Sorcerer yeah, I got nothing here, but lord knows they don’t need more power as it is.
    5. Don’t use Elemental Ring in dungeons or trial so you would have to switch the skill out anyway.
    Used to think Eruption was a bad skill due to cost until I started using it and found it be an amazing skill as is. Know I am fighting a losing battle as I think the ship has sailed but it’s still PTS so hope is still alive even if it’s exceeding small at this point.

    Aware I am late responding to suggestion as real life has been busy, but I have played a little and already dropped the skill off my bar to get ready for the upcoming change. Really wish they would stop these mini games inside DK skills.

    before maintenance on January 3, 2022 I was launching ash cloud for free with 2 cost reduction glyphs. after the maintenance on January 3rd I see the magika go down by 378 every second, as if the cost reduction is not taking effect.

    It works for me on PC EU live, at 112/s it costs 112/s precisely.

    after the maintenance on January 10 the problem still persists ... so .... good zos?

    currently I ride with 592 flat reduction + all the percentage reductions possibly from gear / class / race / passive etch

    and still my bong-cloud costs me 378 magika per second.
