What the other guy said is probably just speculation. The Champion System is for progression in PvE. It would be better if all PvP was noCP. A low barrier of entry would be healthy for the game.

The ever-present lag issues make using these new sets logical, unfortunately - you don’t have to worry about a skill not firing because the proc goes off automatically! This topic could just as easily been called hrothgar here, they are both showing in my death recaps equally… every time I die… I agree that we shouldn’t be too hasty to call for nerfs but this might be worse than the last proc meta or even the DOT fiasco.

The lag is what takes DC from just "annoying avoiding all the time" to "I'm stuck in break free animation and eating this while I rubber band all over the place and die."

I actually don't know why I even bother talking about it. I finally have options

    Why not???
I do not want to change my class to DK or WD to get overpowered ultimate or skill. I do not want to change my build to stamina. I like to play magicka sorcerer in all games. I like powerful skills and speed in cost of survivability. Current class and weapon skills disbalanced and have a little choice. Only few builds are viable. ZOS do not want to change this. So the only way is to get new power and variety of builds are set items. It was other overpowered sets. For example Zaan. Many players in BG was also complain about this set. Mythic items also. At release time some of them was owerpowered then nerfed to useless.

The new PvP proc sets are game breaking.

Absolutely. They're so proud of no-proc Cyrodiil, which lots of people wanted for good reason and then they come out with all of these absurd proc sets. Its like PvP doesn't require any skill at all anymore and they don't even need to understand how or why the build works, just copy it from someone else online.

With that said, on a positive note the new sets are helping to flood the game with different procs which are helping to stomp out ball groups but PvP itself isn't as fun anymore... I'm as glad as the next person to see ball groups disbanding but it looks like they've created another problem here too.

I’m on PS5. I had finally taken up an interest again in BGs the past few weeks (last time I played BGs was years ago) and it was awesome.

Then Waking Flame launched..... Five days remained until BG weekly leaderboard rewards would be given out. Here is my experience.

Day 1: same as last patch
Day 2: same as last patch, but one match had a user with Hrothgar’s+Dark Convergence and the Procs were clearly massively overturned
Day 3: Users with either (or both) Hrothgar’s and Dark Convergence in every match
Day 4 (today): same situation as Day 3 but even worse and more frequent
Day 5 is tomorrow. I’ve already got myself into safe spots on the leaderboard to get my rewards so I won’t need to pvp again.

I will no longer play BGs after tomorrow.

I am not using these two sets yet I still get #1 on my team regardless of game mode, so it’s not as if I can’t compete anymore. These procs just create gameplay I don’t enjoy. I’m on Magicka sorc so I can streak out of Dark Convergence most times. Lastly Plaguebreaker is strong, but not a serious issue imo.

Dark Convergence and Hrothgar’s Chill need to be severely nerfed and realistically shouldn’t even exist. No proc in the past comes close to these. Smh

Elude is a hard counter to Dark Convergence.

    bjcZZs9.png

It gives you Major Expedition so you can walk right out of Dark Convergence without taking any damage. In the event of lag / desync or not enough stamina for break free / dodge roll, the -20% area effect damage makes Dark Convergence mostly a non-issue with some light healing.

The pull from Dark Convergence is the deadliest part and not the damage itself. It positions you for huge Dawnbreakers and other area effect ultimates, whirling blades, etc which is detrimental to offensive momentum.

I wouldn't say hard counter. More like soft counter. the 20% mitigation is nothing when you factor Dark Convergence's 10% dmg increase per person. Having more than 2 players inside it negates Evasion. The best counter I've seen so far for non-speed builds is to just hold block and hope you don't get stunned.

    Developer Comment:
This set was designed with one goal in mind – kill large groups. Pesky zerg sitting on your keep or resource flag? Send them to the void by pairing this set with some hard CC and immobilizes.
not even considering devs called a lot of players "pesky zerg" XD this sets has nothing with ball groups. They don't even bother them like Volcanic Orb skill or NB fear traps.

Problem is the "pesky zergs" are using this set (and Rush of Agony) to spam infinite pulls and zerg even harder. Meanwhile ZOS nerfed two of the few remaining anti-ball group skills (Volcanic Rune and Trap Beast) at the same time they introduced these broken sets. Plus Plaguebreak is a big failure, as ball groups simply diverted Purge resources towards extra heals, and just heal through the Dark Convergence / Hrothgar mess.

Even a blind person could have seen this coming. Makes you wonder where they come up with these concepts, as they don't really seem to play their own game..... at least not from a PvP standpoint.

Typical sweaty BG match with each team having 2-3 Dark Convergence users. The entire game was basically avoiding the proc and not actually fighting. Whoever got the convergence drop on the other team first usually wins. Cyrodiil was no different, but with even more Dark Convergence.

I don't get the logic behind their balancing. They listened to the community and introduced proc dmg scaling, which was a good change. Then they introduced 3 of the most broken sets in ESO history and destroyed PvP altogether. Many of my friends quit after this patch came out (many of them had adapted and used these sets in their builds), and they actually believed that last patch was a good patch. I'm not sure why ZOS loves to go from destroying PvP to semi fixing it, only to destroy it even further the following patches.

I can't believe we are agreeing. LOL

Just imagine if it was all as originally promised to be, No dropped set would be more powerful than one you could craft and crafting actually was time consuming and mastering enchanting was almost as bad if not worse than jewelry crafting.

But no that couldn't stand, why is it fair that all of those who never or at the most rarely venture into PvP or group dungeons and spent all of their time learning a trade and gather materials could be able to craft the best gear? It just wasn't fair, after all this is an MMO and everyone should PvP, do group dungeons and I should be able to make my own gear and I wouldn't have time to play if I had to spend all of my time mastering crafting.

    TLDR;
Ya get what ya ask for.

There are many rubbish sets in Eso. This isnt one of those, its fun.

If it worked properly every time sure, but if proper counters are used and they fail to work then something is wrong. If I'm not even in the AOE and I'm still getting pulled then my opportunity for counterplay is affected. All I want is for a hot fix that makes the set work as you'd expect it to in relation to what hostile players are doing (streaking, misting, rolling, blocking, etc.).

    • Trash Potions when feeling cheap: Regular CP150 Essence of Magicka pots that I obtain frequently from playing the game or Crown Tri-Restoration Potion obtained from dailies.
    • Crafted Potions: Essence of Spell Critical (Bugloss, Lady's Smock, and Water Hyacinth). Without magelight this is my primary means of obtaining Major Prophecy on my Sorc, which increases my Spell Critical Rating. This also heals and restores magicka. Essence of Immovability (Columbine, Corn Flower, and Wormwood). I use this in PvP, since this gives me stealth detection, knockback immunity, and restores magicka (better to use it when competent allies are nearby, since it might reveal that you are surrounded by multiple players in stealth and you will not have an emergency pot available after use). Essence of Invisibility with only 2 ingredients (Blue Entoloma, Namira's Rot, Nirnroot, or Spider Egg). I use this in PvE content that requires stealth and if I need more speed I'll use Rapid Maneuver before using the potion. Essence of Invisibility with 3 ingredients (Blessed Thistle, Blue Entoloma, and Namira's Rot). Very useful in PvP alongside the vampire Dark Stalker passive, since you'll be invisible, ignore movement speed penalty while in Crouch, and you'll have a 30% movement speed boost from Major Expedition (I always have this slotted when riding from point A to B in PvP land, since gankers are always lurking). My templar/arcanist will mostly use Essence of Health (Tri-Stat Potion) Ingredients: (Mountain Flower, Columbine, and Bugloss).

Perhaps they've tried to fill up those two main campaigns hence offering one with 'silly proc sets' and the other with a rather strange list of sets which seems to evolve each week: 'Oh this works too?!'

I'd appreciate a teaser or an update to upcoming Player Versus Player realms (even if it's in the making) more than the temporary solutions, which as we can see generate quite a bit of frustration in the player base.

I spoke about PvP Bombers (PvP Bomb Alert 2021) just before MYM and during and the fact that the game style was being abused and that the set (Vicious Death) was just too powerful in the current context of the game, then they come out with two nasty and similarly annoying sets. Evolution?..No I think not.

Last night in PC na grayhost at the big arrius 3-way kerfuffle it was almost impossible to get out of the dark conversion. Were the enemies layering them? One after another in the same spot?

The servers were stretched, on the way back from rezzing at a camp I noticed players standing still up ahead. I foolishly kept moving forward and disconnected.
Fan of playing magblade since 2015. (PC NA)
    Might be joking in comments.

A SET should never be on par with the damage of ANY ultimate!!

You are making build choices to play a certain way. Having a certain class have powerful skills is part of the game. Instead of balancing things around sets ZOS needs to work on class balance.

Did our PTS folks fail us on these sets or did ZOS not listen?

CP campaigns are a hot mess.

From what I've seen mentioned or been told in chats, the PTS only had No-Proc cyro during the cycle. Which would have made it impossible to test the new sets in the correct environments.

Can anyone confirm this? Because if so.... There's a lot that needs to be called into question here.

    Very balanced set!

31k HP down to 4k HP, all 27k gone even when I was the only person there. Imagine if I didn't have 31k HP lmao. Let's also not forget the pull range though.

Very balanced @ZOS_BrianWheeler. Let's not talk about counters but focus on the damage. You said this is a zerg busting set right? Did you also intentionally buff it to also bust 1 person too?

It is completely broken I think.
People thought previous proc metas were bad, now you have proc sets that's 90% of your damage doing 20k+ in one global putting you right into execute territory.

From earlier today.. 16 and 21k and a pull that takes off 25k dmg.. Like.. what's even the counter play? The sets are doing everything... For the record I don't blame anyone for using it - it is clearly the best option.. But man, the sets need some fine tuning IMO!
