Dark Convergence here, Dark Convergence there, Dark Convergence everywhere

Typical sweaty BG match with each team having 2-3 Dark Convergence users. The entire game was basically avoiding the proc and not actually fighting. Whoever got the convergence drop on the other team first usually wins. Cyrodiil was no different, but with even more Dark Convergence.

I don't get the logic behind their balancing. They listened to the community and introduced proc dmg scaling, which was a good change. Then they introduced 3 of the most broken sets in ESO history and destroyed PvP altogether. Many of my friends quit after this patch came out (many of them had adapted and used these sets in their builds), and they actually believed that last patch was a good patch. I'm not sure why ZOS loves to go from destroying PvP to semi fixing it, only to destroy it even further the following patches.

It's unavoidable at this point. Every premade BG has a dark convergence magcro and a negate stam sorc. Cyrodiil is nothing but zergs and ball groups spamming these AOE's. You're constantly being pulled. This patch has been atrocious. Probably one of the worst of all time. Last patch was actually good. We had a lot of build variety and procs weren't much of a thing besides a few niche things. There were some problems with last patch, damage was a little high but just needed some minor adjustment. Pariah and stage 3 was ridiculously strong too. But overall, it was one of the best in recent memory. Fights felt decided by having a decent build and overall player skill. Now you are quite literally proc'd to death. Hrothgar is broken and multiple people can proc it on one stunned person. Just look at the groups of stam sorcs running it and hitting multiple hrothgar's at once. Dark Convergence is absolutely busted mechanically and tool tip wise. We haven't even scratched the surface yet though, there's one more proc that's bound to be a problem once more players get ahold of it. Thundercaller. With the combination of this set, vate two hander and hrothgar, nightblades can one shot even the tankiest characters out of stealth with ease.

So ZOS fixes the proc meta and then brings it back. I don't get it. Look at the tool tips on these new procs and compare it to the tooltips of the old procs with the same stats. It's absolutely insane what they have done. I don't blame anyone for quitting the PVP in this game after this. This meta is disgusting and a complete abomination.

    What's not to get?

This is the 5th time PvP has been dominated by proc sets. It's intended. They want the game to revolve around sets. Sets have long been used to change metas, address PvP complaints, make the stam DK play differently so they forget they never got the melee spammable they asked for so long ago.

ZOS effectively killed my interest in pvp at this point with these horrid additions to the game. They don’t listen to what the playerbase actually wants and they’re using these sets as a bandaid fix to the zerg problem in Cyrodiil. I haven’t seen so many players quit all at once in my years of playing, I think lots of people have lost hope for any worthwhile pvp updates in the future. It’s my favorite aspect of the game, but things just keep going downhill. Bad performance, bad sets, no deathmatch queue, no hope for new pvp content. No reason to keep giving ZOS money with the direction they seem to be taking.

I don't understand why they don't just cut pvp and pve set totally.

Just made pvp set being useable pvp only and same for pve, easy balance.
Their is plenty of set available from pvp, just rework and balance them, end of those problem.

Witchmother's Potent Brew (Increase Max Magicka by 2856, Max Health by 3094, and Magicka Recovery by 315 for 2 hours.
    • Trash Potions when feeling cheap: Regular CP150 Essence of Magicka pots that I obtain frequently from playing the game or Crown Tri-Restoration Potion obtained from dailies.
    • Crafted Potions: Essence of Spell Critical (Bugloss, Lady's Smock, and Water Hyacinth). Without magelight this is my primary means of obtaining Major Prophecy on my Sorc, which increases my Spell Critical Rating. This also heals and restores magicka. Essence of Immovability (Columbine, Corn Flower, and Wormwood). I use this in PvP, since this gives me stealth detection, knockback immunity, and restores magicka (better to use it when competent allies are nearby, since it might reveal that you are surrounded by multiple players in stealth and you will not have an emergency pot available after use). Essence of Invisibility with only 2 ingredients (Blue Entoloma, Namira's Rot, Nirnroot, or Spider Egg). I use this in PvE content that requires stealth and if I need more speed I'll use Rapid Maneuver before using the potion. Essence of Invisibility with 3 ingredients (Blessed Thistle, Blue Entoloma, and Namira's Rot). Very useful in PvP alongside the vampire Dark Stalker passive, since you'll be invisible, ignore movement speed penalty while in Crouch, and you'll have a 30% movement speed boost from Major Expedition (I always have this slotted when riding from point A to B in PvP land, since gankers are always lurking). My templar/arcanist will mostly use Essence of Health (Tri-Stat Potion) Ingredients: (Mountain Flower, Columbine, and Bugloss).

    Dark Convergence – Light
    Developer Comment:
This set was designed with one goal in mind – kill large groups. Pesky zerg sitting on your keep or resource flag? Send them to the void by pairing this set with some hard CC and immobilizes.
not even considering devs called a lot of players "pesky zerg" XD this sets has nothing with ball groups. They don't even bother them like Volcanic Orb skill or NB fear traps.

I usually don't agree with your posts, but today we've found common ground.

I don't think dark convergence is difficult to counter when it's one individual running it, but the sheer volume makes every pvp experience feel incredibly frustrating. The introduction of this set just makes pvp feel like a slog. I don't think anyone really likes the feeling of being snared/stunned/feared, but it was part of the combat and there were (in most cases) set rules and immunities to work around. Dark convergence has too many issues to list, but the biggest one is that it's made the pvp experience feel terrible.

I just woke up and I saw Dark Convergence in my dream :joy:
    It haunt me now

    Joking aside
Damage from it is eh, when blocked or dodged out it is okay

However, the fact that sometimes you can not dodge out of it (lag or bug?)
    AND
It pulling you from walls is a nuh-uh.

It should not pull from walls because I clearly remember from the forum threads, how strict ZoS was about people pulling others from walls or themselves jumping on walls. I am surprised themselves introducing such a proc into game. I am expecting a fix by next patch.

Also some people do not even fight when you try to, they just wait and spam AOE :joy:

You think it's a joke, but it's telling that ZOS releases as set as powerful as (the better) ultimates - something they previously said was too strong for a 5 piece bonus

Elude is a hard counter to Dark Convergence.

    bjcZZs9.png

It gives you Major Expedition so you can walk right out of Dark Convergence without taking any damage. In the event of lag / desync or not enough stamina for break free / dodge roll, the -20% area effect damage makes Dark Convergence mostly a non-issue with some light healing.

The pull from Dark Convergence is the deadliest part and not the damage itself. It positions you for huge Dawnbreakers and other area effect ultimates, whirling blades, etc which is detrimental to offensive momentum.

In every dev comment in the patch notes they indicate sets are for large zergs which ball groups are not.
Makes you wonder where they are coming from.

Except large zergs, after years of watching ball groups, move exactly like said ball groups. I saw a Volendrung Hammer for my faction instantly wiped with its zerg group on it last night on PS NA. I was in that zerg. Afterwards I thought “WOW”, but then accepted that it was going to happen. And so did every other player because when the hammer came back the mob of players learned instantly “DONT STACK”. They gave each other room.

When sieging keeps its no longer about smash the front door and funnel in. You have to hit multiple walls if the keep is well protected. Dark Convergence does its job well in shutting down ingrained behavior and I’m happy about it. There is just a learning curve that the community needs to get with and they’re doing so slowly.

As for BGs, they too have for too long been about stack, fight, and little actual strategy most of the time. The set moves the community in the right direction for that nonsense to stop so gameplay can evolve.

There is always NO CP Cyro for those who hate it in the campaigns.

Nah, it's just straight up ignoring game rules/physics.

We got pulled through the floor last night. Twice. Then stuck in a D-ring ledge or gatehouse wall from the rubber banding a time or two and called it quits.

It took all of 3 days on console for the stuff to be everywhere.

All the patch did was replace the 300 random bombers with 300 dark convergence sets. You can adapt and play around the new sets... if they weren't broken and buggy.

    Edit:
I guess one could flag the DC set in that regard. You now have a set introduced to the the game that is currently capable of performing the same on its own as whole prior builds.

    It's ever been the strategy.

There will always be an OP set or two to complain about. In some cases, abusing the sets is what keeps some players coming back.

Just the usual ESO business strategy. Nothing to see here

When it gets changed it might not be used by anyone. I bet the pull will be removed and that is the last you'll ever see the set used.
