That's interesting.
Maybe there are faction specific differences after all. A faction lock would not be deemed important on DC side (Ravenwatch PC EU), since almost all guilds here enforce a soft lock themselves. Not out of faction loyality, but to avoid internal conflict.
Gray Host (EU) have been faction locked for quite some time. The changes before and after were limited, it did introduce higher loyalty, and reduced scroll trolls and maybe spying. Still nothing changed regarding the campaign results. It may even have contributed to the DC exodus since, there were less people loyal to DC compared to the other factions to begin with and thus the chance to win the campaign, went down to zero.
To be fair I do not think that this is the case right now as getting second or third account is ultimately cheap (no need for any dlc, no sub) so any of those so called loyal to alliance players may just have multiple accounts and switch between them as they please.Gray Host (EU) have been faction locked for quite some time. Such a campaign would have a lot of advantages
1 More loyalty to a faction
2 Less low pop bonus abuse
3 Less night capping by reloggers
4 Less spying
5 Less queue avoidance
6 Less "quiter" mentality
