Should there be 8 attributes instead of 3 attributes?

    Ya that wouldn't be enough to bring the game to the top but that might be enough to get some of the original fan base back along with some of wows players their aren't very many people who played Morrowind back when it came out that will play this game.

    What? Why would you assume that?

    Firstly, the games have gone very differently from where they started. Skyrim had three stats, just like ESO does, and far fewer skills than Morrowind, and yet it was just as popular, if not more so, than the earlier game. I won't say that Skyrim is better than Morrowind, or vice versa, when it comes to the system, they both worked for their intended purpose.

    In an MMO, simplicity is key. Having a lot of stats that just boil down to factors in another value just isn't very practical. It would work in a tabletop RPG, when Strength can make a difference in how much you can lift, but in an MMO that just isn't practical - it would mean that some people could finish quest X, where a big rock has to be lifted, and others could not, and that would make many very annoyed. So, instead, no Strength, and everyone can lift that rock to save Lord X of Y.

    My opinion is the exact opposite of yours - why do we even have three stats? Considering that it is really a non-choice, where all tanks max health, all heals and mag-dds max their magicka and all stam-dds max their stamina, it could just as well be removed and replaced by set- or skill-specific bonuses instead. Sword and shield and frost-staff could have bonuses that increase the normal basic hitpoints, medium armor could have passives that increase normal standard stamina, and light armor the same for magicka. Races could also have unique bonuses (as they already do).

    I voted strongly disagree, mainly because I played Morrowind and Oblivion. It took a lot of effort to level up to get the maximum attributes - you had to uses skills you didn't need to get 5 points every level and if was far too complicated. I think ESO is complicated enough for those who chase the meta. Keep it simple so you have time to enjoy gaming.

    Don't get me wrong. I love many of the Elder Scrolls games. They traditionally offered an interesting world to explore with a kind of 'Fantasy Life Simulation' to keep it alive and interesting. But in my opinion ESO is the first of the series to actually have a decent combat system. All of the other games rely on carefully planning out stats and then basically clicking enemies to death mindlessly. Later version don't even require careful planning. And in the end victory ALWAYS relied on either a) you screwed up your character start over, or b) just wait until you level up then go back and try to click them to death again.

    ESO, on the other hand, actually requires you to have a sense of your surroundings and the ability to both plan a build as well as execute it in real-time under a variety of situations. This is especially apparent in PvP situations - one of the primary factors that went into how they designed the combat system. In these more competitive arenas there has to be sensible limits at some point and it's already chaotic enough as it is when fights get big enough.

    Throwing more stats at the game would probably turn away all but the most hardcore RPG players and make the game an extremely confusing system of number crunching. It would require fundamentally changing how combat works mechanically and slow everything down considerably. I think they hit a good balance between offering just enough choices that players can customize and branch out while still limiting things enough that they don't get paralyzed with choices that or overwhelmed by the sheer number of events that could take place in any given fight.

    At the end of the day, ESO is a real-time combat system. It's not turned-based. It's not tab-targeting. It is its own thing and preserving that aspect of it should and will be the primary goal of the devs. Arbitrarily adding extra numbers would do nothing to aid in that design pillar.

    It's already complicated enough, this would make it so much worse. Please remember that not everyone is familiar with what you are suggesting; not everyone has roots in older games.
