I'll just say i enjoy eso for what it is, but we all have stuff we dislike. so here is mine i guess:

- It really saddens me that it's been years and character creation still hasn't been updated with new hairstyles , adornments , People love roleplaying yet even the crown store didn't get anything new in years. beards , eye colors , hairstyles , piercings why cant we have more?

- Why can't we have masks , No i don't mean helmets or hats, i mean actual masks, many armor sets don't have anything covering the face, some are just cowls.

- I have reported a glitch last month, it's been weeks and still no fix. i have seen this glitch on several armors. yes the left leg has a visual glitch like on mercenary or heavy thief armor while running. yet still no fix. I can't bump the post either so i'm here being ignored.

- I dislike the lack of different animations for daggers or maybe axes, daggers don't feel like daggers tbh, they feel more like short swords or knifes.

- Now that skills can have the (dmg increased by either stamina or magicka whichever is higher) It just makes me sad that there's still so many magicka morphs and barely any morphs that work for stamina. Most stamina classes feel the same because most are really limited in skills. However i do understand it could be hard to balance.

- Most styles have daggers look like small swords and great swords look like...swords, why can't monster sets that have swords / great swords have daggers too? it's all the same model anyways. Or just more weapon monsters sets, why just 1 a month?

I dislike that as a female character I can't decide if I want to wear trousers for certain costumes and must wear a dress, such as the bakers costume. Similarly that we are given things like beards but again they can't be used by female characters. If we can have male orcs in wedding dresses we can have female bakers in trousers.

I think in general making the characters non binary would be pretty inclusive generally, then it would be up to the player if they want to give more female traits, male body shape and so on

I love the landscapes, and often just run around farming materials enjoying the scenery

I'm a little frustrated at the whole stamina/magicka divide. I have no objection to the morphed powers, but I really, really REALLY wish I could take each power (including all the base defensive power like block and dodge and etc...) and custom assign them to stamina or magicka as I choose. I'm frustrated by the fact that the vast majority of class powers are magicka based, while the weapon powers seem unreasonably locked into magicka or stamina per type - I really feel like a lot of mechanical and immersive versatility could be added by just giving us the choice of which resource pool to draw from.

I'm also intensely frustrated that there isn't a spear weapon/skill line. I want spears.

I'm also a little frustrated at the character generator having certain racially defined minimums and maximums for various character design issues. Most particularly, did you notice that altmer are inherently like a head taller than every other race, but there's no way to know that from just using the character builder, because there's no comparative size object - same problem in reverse with argonians, which are unexpectedly like 3 inches inherently shorter than normal humans - I wanted to build a huge, hulking, dinosaur argonian, but it turns out even with maxed out sliders I'm nearly a head shorter than my relatively normal scaled Altmer.

All in all, my complaints are pretty minor - I actually really love ESO, especially compared to my complaints about other MMO's...but the above are the things that keep this game from hooking me entirely

    - I'm not a fan of being forced to do pvp for vigor, but I had fun sometimes doing it.

I didn't do PvP to gain access to Vigor, I waited for the days when alliance points came up as the daily rewards then claimed it on the character that needs access to PvP skill lines.

Edit: This was after they shifted it to the start of the skill tree, not when it was way deep.

ESOs difficulty ranges from keyboard face roller easy (about 70%) slightly challenging (about 25%) and pretty tough (about 5%). I would like see those proportions adjusted so that everyone’s happy with the content difficulty range - right now, only the keyboard turners and light attack legends are happy.

I love some of the scenery and shadow effects when morning or sunset happens as it’s oftentimes soothing to me for some strange reason. I also love the combat, as laggy/buggy as it is, because it is different than most games I’ve played. I’ve enjoyed most of the storytelling and themes, especially orsinium and the triad starting at Morrowind, and certain voice acting being top notch.

I hate the cutting of corners to fill quotas. I hate the lack of responsiveness and any sense of rapport between developers and players. I hate the focus of making sure to sell the next new thing as soon as possible makes fixes and testing and basic QOL upkeep more and more like a faerie tale. I hate the mentality that the best way to put out a fire is by dropping napalm.

Gotta keep balance in the force now.

Combat System being so linear and coming off as a clunky when switching weapons, weaving, and spamming abilities.

Lack of Diversity in builds from skills and gameplay POV. That you can’t be a stealthy archer or a duel wielding magic user is highly up there in dislike.

Hip Plates on armor. They look extremely stupid most of the time because they float and sit there.

Edit: Trading system’s focus on Guilds to make any kind of income in-game. The lack of accessibility to sell artificially inflates prices for many items. Keeping old items expensive and new items even more so expensive. This also, funnels solo players to not having gold to many things except maintain their toon’s gear through repair. There’s no disposable income in the leveling up process to buy/make better gear unless you use outlaw refuge and steal.

You still don't have to PvP for vigor. Load up, complete the intro quest (Without skipping and delivering it right away). You'll be rank 3, so enough for Vigor + mount speed passive + a couple of free skill points for ranking up in the Alliance war.

Anyways, stuff I dislike about the game:

    - Majority of skills/morphs for class skills being magicka, thus resulting in stamina classes not feeling unique at all.
    - Lack of any sort of new customisation, resulting in too many characters being clones of each other, even if not on purpose.
    - Terrible performance at times, that can cost you time and patience.
    - Quests feeling either way too short, or they have too much run from point A to point B without achieving anything.
    - PvP being the same mess as it has always been. When are we finally going to have things changed accordingly to their purpose? Stop touching sets/skills for both PvE & PvP, and start giving them different effects instead based on where you are using them.

I hate that I can't wander around without constantly running into some kind of hostile creature. I've sometimes wished there was an "exploration mode" where I didn't have to worry about that. You are probably saying "get a walking simulator"...but I like this world.

    1) Combat. There is little in life I find more tedious than pressing a very specific sequence of buttons over and over. If this were a job I'd be day-dreaming whilst doing it, but when you throw in weaving and the "don't stand in the red" mechanics, you force the player to pay attention. Being forced to pay attention to something mind-numbingly tedious is exhausting.

In most content you can get away with [snip] it, but the content that requires you to behave like a robot is just of no interest to me purely because of the combat. What I'd give for headshots and environment that actually mattered (rather than rotations and red blobs on the ground).

    2) Hip flaps. When ZOS is incapable of preventing hip flaps from clipping through trousers from the same style (two items that were literally designed to go together), then it is time to stop using them. Although given the huge amount of dislike hip-flaps garner from the playerbase I can only assume [snip]

    3) Companions standing on things I am trying to interact with. Why do they stop just ahead of us. Why not behind?

    1. Unbalanced PVP that leads to HUGE amount of toxicity between players.
    2. One Shoot mechanics that are NOT EXPLAINED
    3. You must have ADDONS to see mechanics and its since beta.
    4. Tons of USELESS gear that re stored in my home chests because [snip] and adds new gear nerfing old gears.
    5. Some of skills are NOT suppost to work together - like sorcs combo = go overload then crystal weapon - shoot light attack + spam crushing weapon (PSIJIC skill) (btw. yes this works) effect?= with vamp toggle skill u can one shoot most players and sprint for invisibility.
    6. LAGS

Lack of road signs. Seriously, there are road signs in any fantasy mmo. There are road signs in the real world. This is the most essential way to navigate without constantly looking on map. Why there are no road signs in Tamriel is beyond my understanding

When I see things like daily endeavors or other systems that compel people to log in, [snip]

    [snip]
Are endeavors or companions or any of that fluff worth the effort? Is there a value received equal to the effort required to gain it? That can only be answered individually but for many of us, the answer is a really big no.

I'd love to be wrong on all of it but I also don't want to falsely pump everyone up and pretend everything will be OK. ESO's engine and concept is 14 years old now (it was in dev about 7 years prior to release) with a rebranding and re-release about 6 years ago with Tamriel Unlimited.

But wait, Forbes online indicated that ESO was not slowing down and had a record 15 million + accounts last year. That could be great news for the players or great news for shareholders.

So again, let's look at the effort:value relationship that ZOS has to work through. Is it worth the time and money to keep ESO running and improving? 15 Million subs is only an increase of about 1.5 mil from the year previous. In the grand scheme of things, that's pretty anemic and can be easily attributed to console platform conversions to PC. How much work would ZOS have to do in order to gain significant value given all of the above information (available via google, wiki, forbes)?

    [snip]

    1. Constant yoyoing of my stats/skills/items. I don't have time to get used to a change before the mattress is flipped again.

    i-just-want-consistency.jpg

    2. The fact that end game content narrows down to standing in one spot hitting a few buttons in a pattern. No matter the trial, no matter the boss, it's the same (unless you are elected to go somewhere and touch a thing, like going downstairs in CR, oooooo.) It's both a mechanic and culture thing. Didn't realize I was going to become invested in a rhythm game.

    3. RNG. I still don't have a perfected Maelstrom staff. I've made a throne out of all the one handed axes.

    4. The fact that performance has halted my progress toward getting the Of The Undying Song title. One more achievement and I'm still waiting not to microfreeze every few seconds.

    5. The fact that they killed Thrassian Stranglers so they can release More Different Thrassian Stranglers later, and these, too, will be summarily nerfed.

    6. Werewolf is not comfortable to play. Sometimes you just want to run around as a fuzzy boof but we can't have nice things like that.

    7. Tassets. Actually, the fashion in this game has hit such a rut. So many of the sets look the same. Just pick the one that dyes best.

    8. Housing limitations! 😡

    9. Companions just because, well, they're fine and all, but I want an animal companion and they didn't cater to me specifically. The temerity!

    10. EDIT: I forgot to say that I resent that magicka toons don't get to use proc sets well anymore. When a monster helm hits for ~500dmg a tick at around 4000 spell damage it's kind of like, why.*

    *fuzzy recollection and dubious math
