I don't understand how this decision came to be. It messes up all my guild's social/fun type events or anything like the Dolmen's

It’s stupid and we have been critical of it since the pts began. It’s a bad decision and it only hurts social events.

I know it is a cold comfort to console players, but I am hoping there will be a mod that comes out that can correct this for pc/Mac.

    The response was
“ We’ve been continually looking at ways to improve performance and stability across the game and we found reducing the group size was an effective way to ensure there would be fewer situations where you hit critical memory. Additionally, there’s a fair amount of data that has to be exchanged on the backend for every person in your group. By limiting the group size to 12, we’re introducing additional performance gains.”

As it has been mentioned already in the thread players have been displeased with this since the very first iteration of the Blackwood PTS (one of the threads on the subject):

    https://forums.elderscrollsonline.com/en/discussion/570511/12-person-group-limit-whaaaaaat#latest

On a personal note I have participated in the Alik'r 'carousel roundabout' umpteen times over the years as part of very large groups, often capped, and have not experienced this 'critical memory' issue, whatever it may be.

Conversely I can be doing my own thing or a thinly populated area and experience dramatic fps drops (going from averaging 100 to struggling to keep 25) until I change cells altogether so personally I have basically no idea what this change addresses.

no it isn't all mmos do this they decrease the group size because it very hard for people in mmos to group up and people complain saying they can't find people to do stuff especially guilds when they have to run raids like in another mmo.No matter what the developers will get heat for limiting the size

ESO doesn't have mods, and no, what you are hoping for is beyond what the Addon API would allow.

So you’re saying that to solve the problem of some people being unable to find a group, they limited the max group size for everyone? I don’t know if that’s just personal conjecture or if it’s actually accurate, but surely any adult human with moderate IQ can see the problem there...

Yes sorry u are upset, but have u played the Number One MMO which is World of Warcraft and they used to have 40 mans groups, and people had trouble getting 40 man for raids then it drop to 25 or 20 man and some ten man.It very hard for MMO to get a certain number of people to show up for groups why there numerous reasons. Please do not attack me for saying World of Warcraft is the number one MMO I did not say that to get people to attack me only said that to show what they did because the community complain they had trouble getting people to group up, and Blizzard listen and made the groups smaller.

I don't think anyone would attack you for saying WoW was the most popular MMO. The situation you're mentioning just doesn't apply here. Trials only let you bring in 12 people anyways, so it doesn't help people find trials groups easier by reducing the limit to 12. It just hurts doleman groups and guild activities like someone else was saying.

First, please use periods or actual sentence structure.

Second, WoW had content that REQUIRED 40 people. That is different for social content that could ACCOMMODATE large groups.

In WoW, some contentment needed large groups. Here it’s content that people WANTED to have large groups, as to not exclude anyone. Do you see the difference?

ESO doesn't have mods, and no, what you are hoping for is beyond what the Addon API would allow.

Apologies for the double post, but I am wondering something here - could the Addon API allow for a shared chat channel between multiple groups? That may not solve all of the problems, but since a lot of these groups are for social events to use a shared channel separate from guild/zone/say chat, that at least solves that problem.

This is incorrect reasoning, when applied to ESO.

ESO Trials have not been reduced in size. They are 12-person groups and have always been so.

PVP group sizes have been reduced from 24 to 12, but they did not have the problem of not finding enough people. Quite the opposite! Dropping the group size to 12 has damaged PVP guilds who regularly fielded raids of up to 24 players and made it much harder for PUGS to find a raid willing to take them. The problem in PVP was more that players want a leader, and ironically, the group size reduction made it harder to find a group with a good leader.

This change has primarily impacted guild activities such as skyshard hunts, world boss hunts, roleplay nights, and the like where it used to be that 13-24 players would group up and do an activity.

And since Gina Bruno clearly stated that this change was due to performance...sorry, but this change is NOT due to ESO players complaining that they couldn't find enough players to do things.

In my guild, i run a WorldBoss/Dolman event every week where we do the dolmens/wb's in a zone.. i almost always have between 14 and 24 people, I complained about it at the time it was announced there would be group limits for overland stuff. So now i will have to have 2 groups at the same time, with me leading 1 and someone else leading the other.. the problem comes, if they dont know how to get to the boss, or their group attacks the boss when the other group isnt all there yet.. its very frustrating . We had to run two groups b4 when there was a bug that when you reached a certain amount of people in a group.. people would crash over and over.. so two/three groups solved that and it was difficult to run that way.. Please Please ZOS put the group cap back to 24. We would all appreciate that..

    Thank you,
