Would you rather have to level each companion on EVERY character? Because this is the price we have to pay to have them leveled account wide. You get ONE build per companion across ALL characters, this also includes ONE outfit across all characters. If you want them as a tank with one character and a DPS on another, you have to manually switch them with each character. So it's NOT a bug, it is working as intended.

As for people still having the disappearing gear problem... are the ones still having the disappearing gear problem making sure they have companions dismissed on EVERY character before logging out?? I have yet to lose a single piece of gear because I make sure that I dismiss the companion before logging in to another character. I also dismiss and resummon them whenever I give them a new piece of gear, just to be sure it remained in place. I run and swap my companions on six alts and have never lost a piece of gear and I frequently get new pieces to add to them.

And this is why the game NEEDS saved loadouts, now including for characters.

Not sure if you fundamentally understand how companions SHOULD work, like they work in every other game. I get the level is account wide but each companion should be somewhat a functional entity for each separate character. it is absolutely useless, pointless and plain stupid to have them IDENTICAL for each character since we usually don't have identical characters. So according to you - and ZOS probably - this companion is just one particular, individual item that is identical for each character? Why would I then do intro quest on each character? Let me unlock it on one and then make it account wide UNLOCK also.
In other games, when you get companion, even if it is the very same type of companion, you can customize it for every character. [snip] The longer we accept it and find workarounds for issues they should solve in the first place, the worse overall gaming experience.
So I repeat and I really would like ZOS to break this offending silence and explain/discuss/apologize/ANYTHING at this point:
changing gear on one character's companion changes it on every other character's companion, is this intended "feature" because someone not really cared enough OR is this is a bug. If the first, frankly, this is major fail for companions system, if the latter, kindly fix this issue.

I submitted a ticket a couple days ago no response. I plan to send another ticket tomorrow. Otherwise, I'm NOT equipping anything until I read somewhere on the forums, an official post, that the disappearing gear bug has been fixed. I'd like a refund of the gold that was spent. I expect that will not happen. I presume gear will not be re-applied to my inventory either.

Not willing to repeat my mistake of not coming onto the forums the first time to see if there was an equipment bug or not.

There is also a bug where you cannot pick up companion gear. A piece will show up 3 times as a drop in a pd, but, you cannot pick any of them up.

I get that you might think that, but I think that the companion is the same companion across all characters. That is how a hireling should work. It does not make sense to me that I would customize it per character, as there is only one Mirri and only one Bastian. My goal is to get them focused on a role and then pull them out when I need that role.

So, in terms of combat customization, ZOS has created companions in a manner that I think is correct.

I agree. They should be unlocked one time per account and then freely usable across the account after that.

Edit: I mean, I understand why they did the unlock per character (or think I do), but I don't think it is that important.

It has already been explained, but you do not want to ACCEPT what you're hearing because it isn't what you want to hear. First and foremost, ESO has never been like 'every other game'. Second, I don't recall any game that had companions where you level them on all your characters account wide, every game I've played that had companions you always had to level them PER character. So the fact that ZOS is reducing our grind (other than the initial quest to acquire them), should be applauded. Given this fact of account wide leveling, I'm not sure how they could separate 'this by account' and 'that by character'. This is why an outfit is also shared across all characters.

Although with that being said, they DO have rapport 'by character'... but I don't know how much programming difference there would be between that and keeping track across multiple accounts the various gear/skills assigned to all the companions.

[snip] And while some things ESO does better like account-wide things, it's getting closer to typical MMOs each patch. I fail to understand why they don't learn from their own and others' mistakes but ok, no matter.
Also, this is a bit "wth" that it's one companion for all, like, he stays in a stable like a horse? I'd like to customize him/her according to character the companion is currently following. It only makes sense because I don't play each of my characters the same way, that would be boring. Do we want the game to become boring?
The only solution is LOADOUTS - both for characters and companions (addons are not solution, like, for example they don't work for me at all).

In general, the GRAND majority of the people on the PTS are there to parse the trial, or theorycraft gear. There are sadly relatively very few of us who are on there to report bugs, unless they're quest-breaking ones.

I am rather curious how you know that.

I would also propose as an explanation that trying out the trial and theorycrafting is a thing where you can see that it has an effect - you know the trial, you know what gear to get.
Writing bug reports has no discernible effect whatsoever. With very few exceptions, bugs (esp. bugs not directly related to the new content) will make it to Live, no matter how game-breaking they are. (I mean, we have a serious bug with blocking right now. That was reported during the PTS. Was it fixed? Hahaha. Was it even acknowledged? Lol no, only after going live.)
So - why report bugs on the PTS? It literally doesn't matter.

While they collect bug reports from PTS, the purpose of PTS does not appear to be Quality Assurance, but tuning and feedback for the systems in the Update.

Given that it takes weeks for ZOS to change things, months if it is item or combat related, I have to figure that many things done during PTS, even if reported by the players, were in the works before PTS. My expectation is that anything reported during PTS will not be fixed or changed before it launches. The exceptions are few.

Same as well, I didn't even get the normal automated response email that normally comes through so maybe at another department collecting with all the other tickets with the same issues, idk. Not going to even bother with another ticket as I highly doubt anything will come out of it. It would be nice to get some sort of response out of anyone anyone from ZOS at this point. It also sounds like another issue has started up with quest markers showing on others companions heads. I am guessing the radio silence is because either they are inundated, don't know what/when the "fix" will be, or maybe both. Regardless, some sort of communication -- even "we're working on it" -- would be really nice "QoL" for the community.

Don't submit multiple tickets for the same problem. It confuses them. They end up sitting in the corner babbling and drooling. Well, more than the usually do.

In all seriousness, apparently, it moves you to the back of the line.

When do we get the hotfix that lets companions equip player gear and companion gear gets moved to the recycle bin.
