I'm saving all my dropped companion gear for now, its all stored in my bank.
I don't see any reason to go beyond the basic white gear while i'm leveling them anyways. And as said above, you can buy the white gear from the normal gear vendors in each city.
So even if they lose their gear, i can easily restock them.
Thanks for the heads up, I will do this from now on. Simple enough as a workaround until ZOS gets around to fixing it.lordspyder wrote: »So, it seems the answer for now is make sure your companions are dismissed on all of your characters, then when you log out dismiss the companion first. It seems to stop you from losing the gear.
Just checked one of my companions, and her(Mirri's) gear was all reset to starter white companion gear. Even though yesterday I did equip atleast three blue pieces on her. The armor skillline she unlocked with those pieces is still unlocked though, so the items did at one point register as equipped.
Not sure if this happened just before, or after the maintenance on june 5th.
For now I'm not going to equip my companions with new gear anymore. Atleast until this is 100% fixed. Feels really bad, as companions are really fun to play with.
PS: Where are the notes for the june 5th maintenance?
How were companions released like this? Months of PTS, what were they testing?!
While doing a dolmen I received a blue companion jerkin -- the only companion gear drop in four hours of continuous play. I opened my banker to stash the piece and it had disappeared from my character's inventory.
ZOS fix the GD problem and provide substantive reimbursement for manifest loss of time. Frankly, if you don't do these things forthwith you get no more from me and I'm done with your perpetually problematic game.
Did you check your Companions gear inventory? I noticed last night that gear appeared there and not in the my characters inventory. had to equip on the companion then unequip for it to show up. Haven't been able to test this after today's hot fix to see if its still happens.

EDIT II: looks like it's pointless to have companion as tank on one character and then as dps on another because every time I change gear on one character, EVERY character has the gear on companion changed. @ZOS_GinaBruno could we please have some logical explanation? And fix like... fast? I repeat - this is not tree texture skewed, this is gamebreaking bug in content that we paid for.

Would you rather have to level each companion on EVERY character? Because this is the price we have to pay to have them leveled account wide. You get ONE build per companion across ALL characters, this also includes ONE outfit across all characters. If you want them as a tank with one character and a DPS on another, you have to manually switch them with each character. So it's NOT a bug, it is working as intended.
As for people still having the disappearing gear problem... are the ones still having the disappearing gear problem making sure they have companions dismissed on EVERY character before logging out?? I have yet to lose a single piece of gear because I make sure that I dismiss the companion before logging in to another character. I also dismiss and resummon them whenever I give them a new piece of gear, just to be sure it remained in place. I run and swap my companions on six alts and have never lost a piece of gear and I frequently get new pieces to add to them.

What you have described is a workaround not a fix.

Yes, but it would help the devs diagnose whether this workaround does work or not, so as to hopefully lead them in a direction of a fix. Besides, a workaround is still better than losing gear, right?

Better then losing gear yes. But if we have a workaround why should the devs devote time into fixing. Call it a bug and move on, it's no longer getting attention on the forums and they aren't getting tickets, right?

Do you think every player comes to the forum to notice a workaround? NO. So obviously ZOS would want to get this fixed or continue to be inundated with in-game bug reports of missing gear. There is a difference between a simple bug, and another that is causing items to disappear that cost millions on the market. So YES, I do believe that ZOS would devote time to fixing this major glitch with their new creations.
