❓ Companion Gear/Weapons Still Missing/Wrong After Hotfix Maintenance?

Anyone else have no gear on their companion after the update this morning (6/4)? Yesterday, I had several pieces of blue companion gear, I now have nothing (not even the starter gear) on my companion, only what I had left in my own inventory from unequipping from my companion yesterday. I only noticed because Mirri was fighting with her fists, and once I checked the gear and unequipped the costume I had set, this is my companion after logging in this evening:

    Yes.

Confirmed that it's still broken. Just equipped Bastian with a green lightning staff. Then I logged out to eat. Logged back in and saw that his equipped staff is now on fire again. Checked his inventory and yep - we now have TWO starter inferno staves, and no lightning staff.

I tried relogging and zoning, and this appears to be permanent.

You can buy their white gear from armorers and the likes now. Not the ones with the purchasable trait mats or whatever, but the other ones that sell white weapons/armor.

Not all zones have all the vendors, or at least not all in the same place. I found Shadowfen's town actually has all the vendors in one area between the furnishing people and guild traders.

If you have it unequipped, yes. The gear that was actually on the companion however has just disappeared into oblivion. :#

I'm not sure of the details of today's maintenance (6/5), but companion gear is still missing after logging in

So, it seems the answer for now is make sure your companions are dismissed on all of your characters, then when you log out dismiss the companion first. It seems to stop you from losing the gear.

I haven't logged in today but so far haven't lost any companion gear that I picked up. I found a green helm the first day and equipped it for him so far he still has it and his starter gear. When I log in I will check to make sure it's still there.

I'm saving all my dropped companion gear for now, its all stored in my bank.

I don't see any reason to go beyond the basic white gear while i'm leveling them anyways. And as said above, you can buy the white gear from the normal gear vendors in each city.

So even if they lose their gear, i can easily restock them.

I can't even see my companion equipment. All it shows in companion equipped items are items I have equipped on my character, wtf... But comp gear doesn't disappear, luckily although I can only see it when I have something in inventory and system simply compares the two when I hover over inventory item. Weird.
EDIT: sent ticket but OF COURSE have no number because haven't received confirmation email. GG. Game getting better each day...
EDIT II: looks like it's pointless to have companion as tank on one character and then as dps on another because every time I change gear on one character, EVERY character has the gear on companion changed. @ZOS_GinaBruno could we please have some logical explanation? And fix like... fast? I repeat - this is not tree texture skewed, this is gamebreaking bug in content that we paid for.

    Me too.
Some green ones are in the guild store (noone buying them though, lolz^^), the rest is in the bank for now.

But still...two "hotfixes" did not solve a problem, that seems to be a databank problem and actually should not be that hard to be solved...companions, besides the new area, are the main part of the expansion for $40,00 but they are not working as they are intended to...some people have lost some quite rare gear that does not drop that often.

Another thing to add to this I've just noticed; my companion mount automatically set itself to the default mount (Horse) at random after I had logged in today. Last login, I had a Senche mount picked and had not seen any change like this until today. Since things being equipped with my companion seem to be disappearing, I might just leave it at the default until this issue is resolved. I'd rather not risk any possibility of a mount being removed. :D:#

Thanks for the heads up, I will do this from now on. Simple enough as a workaround until ZOS gets around to fixing it.

Just checked one of my companions, and her(Mirri's) gear was all reset to starter white companion gear. Even though yesterday I did equip atleast three blue pieces on her. The armor skillline she unlocked with those pieces is still unlocked though, so the items did at one point register as equipped.

Not sure if this happened just before, or after the maintenance on june 5th.

For now I'm not going to equip my companions with new gear anymore. Atleast until this is 100% fixed. Feels really bad, as companions are really fun to play with.

PS: Where are the notes for the june 5th maintenance?

In general, the GRAND majority of the people on the PTS are there to parse the trial, or theorycraft gear. There are sadly relatively very few of us who are on there to report bugs, unless they're quest-breaking ones.

An idea: Anyone who's on the PTS reports 3 bugs, and is the first to report all 3 of those specific bugs, gets a unique mount or skin or something. Get people into the PTS to actually SEEK OUT BUGS.

While doing a dolmen I received a blue companion jerkin -- the only companion gear drop in four hours of continuous play. I opened my banker to stash the piece and it had disappeared from my character's inventory.

ZOS fix the GD problem and provide substantive reimbursement for manifest loss of time. Frankly, if you don't do these things forthwith you get no more from me and I'm done with your perpetually problematic game.

Posted this in response to the same question in another topic:

Did you check your Companions gear inventory? I noticed last night that gear appeared there and not in the my characters inventory. had to equip on the companion then unequip for it to show up. Haven't been able to test this after today's hot fix to see if its still happens.

Yes, I did. Not there either, nor did re-logging solve the issue. All I can see is four frigging hours of grinding for gear gone to waste.

Would you rather have to level each companion on EVERY character? Because this is the price we have to pay to have them leveled account wide. You get ONE build per companion across ALL characters, this also includes ONE outfit across all characters. If you want them as a tank with one character and a DPS on another, you have to manually switch them with each character. So it's NOT a bug, it is working as intended.

As for people still having the disappearing gear problem... are the ones still having the disappearing gear problem making sure they have companions dismissed on EVERY character before logging out?? I have yet to lose a single piece of gear because I make sure that I dismiss the companion before logging in to another character. I also dismiss and resummon them whenever I give them a new piece of gear, just to be sure it remained in place. I run and swap my companions on six alts and have never lost a piece of gear and I frequently get new pieces to add to them.

This is just to make sure, no one here is using any add-ons that sort inventory like Dustman, Auto Category, Advanced Filters etc...?

I've had thing vanish in the past only to find it was those add-ons actively hiding the item since it didn't fit into any of its categories.

Yes, but it would help the devs diagnose whether this workaround does work or not, so as to hopefully lead them in a direction of a fix. Besides, a workaround is still better than losing gear, right?

Better then losing gear yes. But if we have a workaround why should the devs devote time into fixing. Call it a bug and move on, it's no longer getting attention on the forums and they aren't getting tickets, right?

Do you think every player comes to the forum to notice a workaround? NO. So obviously ZOS would want to get this fixed or continue to be inundated with in-game bug reports of missing gear. There is a difference between a simple bug, and another that is causing items to disappear that cost millions on the market. So YES, I do believe that ZOS would devote time to fixing this major glitch with their new creations.
