Would you play this game if add-ons didn't exist?

I only use inventory insight, none of that combat garbage that I see others use and crutch on in PvP.

Too much clutter and noise on the screen. I don't need a person to ever tell me what to do, so why would I need an add-on to to?

I'm saying no, because a lot of things that addons do should be in base game. But they have left these things to unpaid modders to do for them.

These people do a ton of work to add basic features like a minimap, or the ability to search your inventory, or have cp profiles etc. The fact they they make it bare bones and force their customers to make it user friendly is... not great.

They made trade guilds an integral part of the game and possibly the primary gold sink yet put in no way for you to even see a personal sales total for the love of God.

I don't know how people on console do it lol. You folks have my respect even if I think you are all out of your minds ;)

I played without addons for the longest time. Sure, they make life easier, but it wouldn't be a deterrent if they didn't exist. Honestly, I think some are useful (especially for trading and crafting) and some just make it easier to be lazy (Harvest Map), but none are necessary to play the game.

Exactly. I think I played a yearyear before I even started using addons

I play without add-ons frequently. I played on Xbox One from release until September 2017. I switched to PC, and continue to play on PC because my variable 55-100 FPS is better than 10-30 FPS on Xbox One, it also looks better, loads significantly faster, and most importantly... That's awesome. I met my best friend playing this game.

As a matter of fact I stopped using mods a few years back, the game gives you everything you need to play...in fact all mods do is put the game on auto pilot....sorta like <insert any mobile game here >

My advice to anyone is learn to play the game without the mods first at least. Folks who say they can't play without them are not the kind of people you want having your back in a Dungeon.

Also I can actually see a day when Zos actually stops allowing mods.

I can list on how essential actually addons are but I see some people don't even see the logic behind. Actually I was voicing this for a long time that it should be the developers who should give us in game applications that would work the same way the addons do but better.

Damage meter is one of them for example. I need to observe what the group does, yes you can use some damage meter in this game right now but the way it is now is inconsistent. Let me be clear about this, I am not using the damage meter addon for the sake of "oooh lookie I have don shitloads of damaageeeee", but rather how much damage I received, how much damage my team mate received in certain mechanics, how much heal has been done, or if any has been done (I have seen players who applied as healers in vet dungeon and didn't heal 1 bit and when I asked they said play with your own sustenance... so what is the point of role check then?) If taunt has been made and how many times it has been made. See such addons are not only for checking how much damage you have done, but rahter for you to check if people has done their job correctly or if they are STEALING your time! Because it really is! And to be honest I am sick about it and people should really act responsibly or they can go and do these dungeons solo if they are such OP players.

Wow...my dude, get some anger management....or join these guys.

I doubt that very much. Mods benefit ZoS by providing quality of life for the players that they don't need to spend time and resources implementing themselves.

I would not have stuck with this game until now if I still had to play it in its bare-bone state. It simply doesn't have the QoL and feedback features needed for a game that becomes so complex imho.

Probably not. I remember commenting about the early beta tests that I wasn’t into the whole “clean screen” idea of no minimap, no outgoing combat damage or healing numbers, etc. etc. And searching for Mages Guild lore books and skyshards was a major PITA.

I was delighted when add-ons were developed that solved those problems. Crafting writs without Lazy Writ Crafter — what a chore they were!

I’ll bet the game looks great on a console and a huge TV screen, but I’ve never been tempted to give up the PC version and play without add-ons.

Don't worry, it looks better with a projector facing the ceiling and the comfort of being able to lie down, use a controller, in the perfect relaxation position.

Better that you can adjust that image however you want and colors.

Even better when you PvP and get hate tells and don't even have a keyboard nearby.

Nothing beats a PC experience like that! I swear it increases PvP performance, esp. if you use first-person!

what addon? break into chests and auto loot is base game stuff - you level legerdemain skill line for it. and if you are talking about lockpicker, it does nothing of a sort, all it does is make the spot to let go when lock picking each pin individually - easier to see.

also this chest pounding about hardmode is honestly getting tiresome. its. a. VIDEO GAME. its not that serious.

why? what's so great about having to put on individual pieces of armor one at a time vs just with one click? what is so SKILLFUL about it? in what way does that create an unfair advantage? (and if you say pvp, you cannot change gear in combat or while in a battleground.) all it does is save. time.

the only addon that was anything close to cheating was the one that warned you about being attacked from stealth. and guess what? its banned already!

and you know how you guys on consoles can finally multicraft, get quest markers AND a list of items to craft for your dailies, can actualy "gasp" search through guild stores and have more options to filter your inventory by, just to name a few?

    yeah, you're welcome.

Maybe if they implemented all the features I wanted into the base game.

As is, no. I customize quite a bit with addons. Here's my current list:
    AI Research Grid
    AUI
    Auto Recharge (and repair)
    BeamMeUp
    Code's Combat Alerts
    Combat Metrics
    Combat Metronome
    Crafting Stations
    Destinations
    Dungeon Helper
    Dungeon Tracker
    Enchant Maker
    FCO Lockpicker
    GridList
    Group Synergizer
    Harven's Improved Skills Window
    HarvestMap
    HarvestPins
    Hodor Reflexes
    Iakoni's SKill Changer
    Inventory Insight
    Light Attack Helper
    Loot Log
    Lost Treasure
    Magic Carpet
    Map Pins
    Master Merchant
    NoAccidentalStealing
    pChat
    Player Role Indicator
    Postmaster
    Qcell's Rockgrove Helper
    Skyshards
    SuperStar
    TTC
    Untaunted
    Urich's Skill Point Finder
    WritWorthy

...and the libraries to support all of the above. I don't think I'd want to give those up.

This was difficult to answer for me.

Yes, I probably would play without addons, but I would not enjoy it nearly as much. I would feel like I was playing a much lower quality game. I'm also not certain how long nor how regularly I would play, without them.

No Perfect Pixel to make my UI actually fit my resolution, allowing me to see more items in my inventory instead of the limited, 'doesn't look like it was made for a PC' UI... like playing Skyrim without SkyUI? Ugh.

No pChat, to customize my chatbox to my preference, and allow me to set sounds for whispers because by the Divines I am terrible about missing those? Boo.

No Azurah, to move UI elements to the places I find most proper/convenient? Ugh.

No minimap, so I have to constantly open up my main map because I can get lost in my own backyard and the minimap is super helpful for me? Boo.

Yeah, I could probably do it. I'm honestly not sure how quickly I'd lose interest in the game, though. I have not played this game continually since the beginning, and I returned from a 2 year break not long back, during the most recent (I think?) free to play event, just to see if I was seriously interested in picking it back up again. At first, I didn't bother with addons, because I was just testing the waters to see if I would be serious. As soon as I realized I was serious, I subscribed and set up Minion for the addons. Could I do without them? Probably. Would I WANT TO? By Oblivion, no.

It's not a *** on vanilla. It's the hackiest question ever. It's the equivalent of "what are your top 5 songs/movies". It's clickbait.

Everyone has grown with the game with add ons to the extent that they all feel the same at some point: "how in the *** did i ever..."

Funny out of those necessary add ons I use one of them.

I use mostly QoL add ons like postmaster or Auto Ride Training. A lot of small QoL add ons add up to a smooth quick experience.
