Companion Bag - YES or NO?

No, that is a horrible idea.

ZOS has stated that these are just the FIRST companions with more to come in the future. With your proposal, we would have to grind for each companion... No, too much like work and not enough like fun.

So far companions seem pointless given how easily they die when maxed out on the PTS so why even bother? The only thing I see that would matter about them are the non-combat passives.

YES. A Companion Bag would be a great feature.
Inventory management is already tedious enough

I don't know what Horrible grind you think I'm proposing. I said no such thing about a grind of any kind.

The companions are a waste of time. I will never use them. Could care less about them and even less than getting a bag for them. I don't have inventory issues because I keep what I want and scrap what I don't. If it is something pretty good I store it in the Bank for later use. The companions were created for one reason only. More revenue for ZOS and people will fall for it. Oh they will create something. Bag or whatever and a price will be attached to it and people will buy it. If you don't like the game the way it is stop buying into it. Use what you like about it and dump the rest. Constant complaining that the game is not tailored to suit your personal preference is not going to change ZOS. In the end ZOS will do whatever they have to do to score the next sale. Bottom line they are a business. If they don't turn a profit they go out of business. The players are their bread and butter. If you don't like it don't buy it. End of story.

If they make eso+ furnisher bag all my bag and storage problems will go away. I dont think companions needs they own bag.

I created my own “furnishings bag”... I got the Coldharbour house and store all my extra furnishings there. I pop in from time to time to remind myself what I have, drop off an antiquity like another void crystal anomaly, or grab something to move to a house I’m working on. 🏡 🙂

I expect there are a lot more furnishings in the game than companion gear which would make it feasible.
Yes, there are more furnishings than companion gear, but you are able to furnishings "when not in use", but with companion gear there are 1334 discrete pieces of companion gear at, and we will basically need one complete set of each for each of our companions.

Next ZOS has stated, they plan to add more companions over time and each one will require yet more space for companion gear, they will also likely add more sets and traits.

Without using mule characters, I believe the bank space (with ESO+) is 480 and another 220 ( with ESO+), so roughly have the space required for just the 1 of each piece.

I cannot speak to how things are run around here based on my three-month history but I expect the creators of such a great game would not pull such shenanigans.
I love ESO, it is one of my favorite games set in the lore and world of one of my favorite franchises. I have been playing since beta, and a paying subscribe almost that entire time. I say that, so you might understand... ZOS does pull those kinds of shitnanigans, maybe not intentionally, but they do.

So you are saying the gear for each companion is specific to that companion? How many pieces are in a set? Other than damage dealing, tanking, and healing we should not need more gear for a single companion or if we are using multiple comps then simply have each geared for a different role and call it a day.

Why else would we collect companions' gear unless this has been made necessarily complicated?

I would rather have each companion increase your inventory space/bank space by certain amount so even if you have no use for the companion you would still benefit from it. For the record, I am looking forward to the companion system.

I would only be remotely interested in companions if they could use "my" gear.

Since this is not the case, no biggie.
Tenesi Faryon of Telvanni - Dunmer Sorceress who deliberately sought sacrifice into Cold Harbor to rescue her beloved.
Hisa Ni Caemaire - Altmer Sorceress, member of the Order Draconis and Adept of the House of Dibella.
Broken Branch Toothmaul - goblin (for my goblin characters, I use either orsimer or bosmer templates) Templar, member of the Order Draconis and persistently unskilled pickpocket
Mol gro Durga - Orsimer Socerer/Battlemage who died the first time when the Nibenay Valley chapterhouse of the Order Draconis was destroyed, then went back to Cold Harbor to rescue his second/partner who was still captive. He overestimated his resistance to the hopelessness of Oblivion, about to give up, and looked up to see the golden glow of atherius surrounding a beautiful young woman who extended her hand to him and said "I can help you". He carried Fianna Kingsley out of Cold Harbor on his shoulder. He carried Alvard Stower under one arm. He also irritated the Prophet who had intended the portal for only Mol and Lyris.
    ***
Order Draconis - well c'mon there has to be some explanation for all those dragon tattoos.
House of Dibella - If you have ever seen or read "Memoirs of a Geisha" that's just the beginning...
Nibenay Valley Chapterhouse - Where now stands only desolate ground and a dolmen there once was a thriving community supporting one of the major chapterhouses of the Order Draconis

In Skyrim companions were sworn to carry our burdens. Now we have to carry theirs? That feels wrong - we're the hero after all - they should carry their own stuff (and ideally some of ours too). I think a companion bag of 60 slots would be ample but they should have some inventory of their own.

Not that I can see myself ever using them based on PTS performance so far. I've been using normal Cauldron as a test bed - it's a normal dungeon, not too bad for a DLC one and mostly without any special tricky mechanics that it might be over-optimistic to expect a day-of-release companion to deal with - but even with the improvements to blocking and dodge rolling I can't get a companion to stay alive through the second boss fight, either as a healer or a tank.

You stated that companions needed their own backpacks... Note the plural. That means Bastian will hold Basian's gear and Mirri will hold Mirri's gear, that means you need to get two of everything, and then later this year when ZOS releases two more companions, you will need to grind again for their gear, etc.

No, companion gear is generalized gear, so that any companion can wear a specific piece, but only 1 can wear a specific piece unless you have multiple copies of the specific piece. The problem though is that gear sets are not true sets, you can mix and match them to your specific needs...

This becomes a serious problem for players as most players have more than one character, and some with multiple accounts. And because each character plays different, you will need companion gear sets to match your character's specific play style. Keep in mind that Mirri and Bastian themselves do not play the same way either, and there is no reason to believe that the future companions will either.

I think you are taking it a little too literally because of an "s". I don't care if it's a universal companion gear bag or each companion has a capacity of their own. Since the gear is transferable between companions (now or future ones), storage of any kind will work and given the low drop rate reported on the PTS, it's going to be a grind either way. I don't think you really need one of everything for each character. It's not practical or realistic.
