My main is a good guy, so I guess he'll favor Basti.

Honestly I'll see about the companions. I don't need any for overland stuff, but I really enjoy soloing dungeons, but as a tank main that does take ages to do - would be nice to 'solo' it with someone else to do the deeps for me. Particularly in places like Direfrost or ICP so I can pretty well just tell him 'go stand on that plate and pull that lever for me.'

Also his hairstyle is releasing when?

That's the dunmer companion as was revealed in January. Whether and (or) how she is renamed we will see on PTS, I don't want to bother before.

Abnur Tharn was kinda untrusting too at the end of the main campaign. Am I going to lump all Imperials as the same?

My main character is a good adventurer. He doesn't steal or kill innocents. I would love to find a virtual love for my virtual boy. I hope the dunmer girl is not too criminal. Otherwise I have to choose the imperial companion.

I hope they will release a good lady after Mirri/Mary soon.

None, until my friend who's frothing at the mouth for them tells me if they're as bad as companions in every other game I've played. If they are, never going to mess with them. If they actually are useful and don't get in the way, I'll think about it. But neither of these so far are appealing anyway, what little we know about them.

But that's a third-party publication of an interview, and there's no way to tell if that interview was given verbally and perhaps incorrectly transcribed, as the phrase "Rich Lambert told" might suggest.

I read a very similar interview where Rich Lambert was quoted as saying that the companions had a "report" system, but when he said it aloud in the preview video, he sounded like he was saying "rapport" instead (as the interview you linked spells it). Those words are very different, despite deriving from the same origin and being very easy to confuse.

Unless we have a written first-party communication stipulating to Mary or Mirri (or some other spelling), nothing is official yet. Same with Bastion/Bastian/Bastien.

It really depends on which is more useful in combat, that will determine which I use most.

But if they are equally useless or just useless in general I will probably dress them both up with the outfit system and just have Mirri summoned while I quest.

Then again depends on how talkative they are if they start spouting all the lines like my banker or merchant and other NPC's do they will only get summoned during harder solo content.

What I meant by that is that many characters that are praised as being cool because they go with the "rules are for sissies", "might makes right" and similar tropes to me sound like those dumb persons who fancy themselves being anarchists but only use that as an excuse to do whatever they like, no matter the consequences (usually unpleasant ones, usually for others), and feeling cool because of it.
Nothing to do with the true meaning of anarchism, hence the "wannabe".

Whether we can direct our companions to do something as specific as stand in a certain spot and not move such as standing on and triggering that plate has been my question too.

And if the other companion’s name ends up being spelled “Mary”, every time I use her all I’ll be thinking about is that song “Mary, Did You Know?” 🤣

When initially advertised, Bastian used Templar skills, but now we saw he's basically a DK. I get that content may change, but it would be nice to at least choose a companion's class.

Mirri but I will likely try them both if possible. I have characters of all classes and races so it will be fun to see whose personalities they both match.
