Main class?

My first main was a stamblade (she's +50 level) until they nerfed it to hell, then she became a crafter. My second main is a ????

So yes, I have no main at the moment. I have a +50 level magsorc, a +50 level stampler, a +50 level stamDK, a -50 level necromancer (really liking her), a -50 stamden and a -50 level mageblade.

I love my Bosmer stamblade. Back in the day, she cleared a dungeon boss on her own while everyone else was dead just with her bow. Such is ESO.

My first character I made is my main - magsorc Altmer

I don't know, there is something cool about summoning daedric powers to your help/use, shock & dark magic

Always liked summoner & scholar classes

So I picked sorc and not disappointed later in game

Why do you need to identify a main class? Been playing since Beta, I have no main class.

I like having a main. You really get to know the full class kit if you play one class significantly more than others. And it can be fun to surprise people with how well a class can do even after it falls out of the meta.

I don't know if someone already mentioned this, but I notice your post didn't mention Dragon Knight. Have you played that yet, or did you just forget to include it? If you haven't played one that would be my first suggestion, maybe a new class will spark some excitement/joy.

My main is a Necromancer healer. I absolutely love it, and I honestly love the visuals myself. I was a bit sad to learn that my friends do not see my grave stones when I use bone yard (I dunno if its just their graphics settings to reduce lag, or if there are some spell effects allies can't see).

I think I enjoy the healer role the most, and would likely enjoy any healer class I play. However, I think if I played any other class I would really very much miss the instant group rez.

Wardens are my mains. I love pet classes - hunter in WoW, whatever it was in RIFT (don't remember now); I started ESO with a stamblade with bow, a follow-on from my stealth archers in Skyrim - but since satellite is my only available connection other than dialup, I found her very difficult to play the way this game works.

So I bought the warden class - and as in WoW and RIFT, with the pet run server-side, that helps mitigate the bad ping experience some.

My "secondary" mains are magsorcs - because of the pets. I also have lots of everything else but necros - I never play necros in any game.

How do you feel wardens cant tame animals like hunters in WoW?

I'm not fussed. I'm not here to do things like in WoW or RIFT - I'm here to play a non-static TES MMORPG.

I always envisioned my main to be some sort of honorable wanderer type - so my stamina Warden fits that bill. I have 8 max levels, soon to be 9 if I don't delete it, and my Warden and Sorcerer are the most played of those. When I played on Xbox, my templar was my main and only, they're fun. Having a main in ESO is an interesting concept though - having one toon where you do crafting, zone achievements for furnishings, motif collections is helpful - but man, it helps get burnt out too. These XP events help try out new classes and honestly, I'm finding I like dragonknight way more than I thought I did.

I don't understand why some players have multiple characters of the same class, for instance multiple stamplars, but all built for PVE. Not criticizing it, its just not something I do. Maybe if I get to the point where I have more than 9 characters, that could happen, but I like the ability to play multiple different ways with different characters and classes.

Might be a bit of a throwback to D&D. If you make a new dk to play the story differently..... My Imperial dk didn't join the Five Companions, sacrificed Valaste for skyshards, and joined the Dark Brotherhood. My main dk is so light side paragon some of the quests where the outcomes are gray and you can't be the hero are annoying and aggravating to do. Different characters, different personalities.

Templars are my main class. I have a dedicated healer, a tank/healer hybrid, and a stamplar for PVP. I want to make a dedicated DPS Templar for PVE, and a stamplar spec too. They're just my favorite class by far, even with all the nerfs that have piled up over the years.

There is just something to be said about the class that continues to get nerfed repeatedly - and yet - people STILL complain that its OP.

My main is a Wood elf Warden, secondary is a High Elf Templar. Before the CP changes, my Wood Elf wasn't the best survivor, but now she's great! I've tried all the classes (and most races) with my alts, but Warden and Templar are the ones I enjoy the most. The least enjoyable for me was Nightblade and Dragonknight.

The essence of an mmo / role-playing game is to identify with a character. Therefore, even if you do not disagree, you always have a main with which you play more and have more achievements. I appreciate that the achievements are not linked to the account.

In fantasy games, I always love to play necromancers. But when ESO came out, there obviously was no necro class. In beta, I tried out the Sorcerer class, but having a daedra pet isn't the same as necromancy, so it didn't hold. On launch, I ended up creating a Wood Elf Nightblade. The sap and fear abilities, combined with the summon shade ability, made the class seem closest to a necromancer. So that's what I played.

Then the PC I had at the time - a gaming laptop - crapped out, and I ended up moving to console with the release of Tamriel Unlimited. I played another Nightblade, this time a Breton.

Then I started rebuilding a new gaming computer, and in late 2019, shortly after Elsweyr released, I decided to come back to the game, this time on PC. Now with the inclusion of the necromancer class, I was able to make my real main. So I made a Breton Necromancer.

I also like playing off of traditional archetypes, and I've been more interested in heavy armored tankier characters since Warhammer Online, where I played my first tank, so I developed my necro as a tank. So my main is for sure and for certain a Breton Necromancer tank.

In the beta and when the game first went live, I was a templar. I had no real concept of a build back then so I can't say if it was magicka or stamina. I made my first character my crafter.

My second main for a long LONG time was an argonian magicka nightblade dps. It wasn't very good, but it did decent dps (better than most randoms at 20-30k dps consistently). I mained that up until 2018.

My third main was a Magplar DPS, which did and still does VERY good dps. I'd consider it top end with 75k dps consistently, even after some nerfs to sets, though we will see with the next update. I mained that until mid 2020.

I now main a Stamden khajiit DPS which does consistent 90k dps when I'm playing casually, 100-110k if I really tryhard.

I tend to not like classes based on the feeling of how they play, even if I get used to them. It's the reason it took so long to find a build I liked outside magicka nightblade. I made the Stamden build I now use after giving Warden a new shot during lockdown, since I never liked the class due to how floaty the skills feel to use. I also have a decent Sorc and DK, but not a necro since I dislike that class for similar reasons as to why I didn't like Warden for so long.

My main is a Bosmer Nightblade. I intended to play the sneaky thief/assassin that ZOS offered, but when they did a 360 from the lore and stole his god given stealth, he got retired and is now my main crafter.

He'll always be my main, even though I play my other characters a lot more.

I recently bought a new account and within a fortnight I had used all 9 slots. On my old account I had a Magicka Templar for a while to level up to the old max CP more easily as a healer but then I never played him again.

But now I am a magnecro through and through...except this morning when I logged onto my old account on a whim and played my stamplar for half an hour.

Back in 2014, when I first started playing ESO, i have tried to create my character based on what I played mostly in other TES games.

Since TES 3 Morrowind, I was always playing as an Argonian in TES games and sometimes as a Khajiit (simply because it is something unique that you don't see in other cRPGs).

As for the class, all I had was a class descripion. I was not using eso wikis because - back then there weren't any good ones. ESO was a new mmo.

Out of all of those classes, Nightblade descripion implied strongly that they get into the trouble & get out of the trouble easily, so they would fit my solo playstyle. Besides, Argonians = shadow scales, so it also fits the lore.

I played my main a lot. I was a mag NB, then stam NB, then Hybrid, then mag again and now I am stam.

Although now I am pretty much limited to only doing crafting dailies, questing, soloing some easier content etc. Occasionally I do some light pvp in Cyro, but with current state of the NB class, I don't feel I can be competitive enough to fight Necros, Wardens or Sorcs. I am trying my best and (not)surprisingly, I preform better if I use weapon / guild / world skills instead of my class abilities (I only use 2 class skills lol) - that is how amazing class balance is... As for the PvE, end-game is also kinda "locked" for me. No one wants NB in a group, as they provide close to nothing to a group. Same for end-game solo PvE. I don't even try to push for scores as other classes are miles ahead.

I play one little Bosmer who is skilled with bow and magic. Been playing her since 2007 (Oblivion, Skyrim, ESO). She long ago learned time travel so jumping games is no problem. That said, I employ lots of head canon to compensate for a game's limitations. In ESO, I like several features on several classes and, as most would agree, magic + bow is not the most effective combination in ESO. Therefore, she manifests as half a dozen classes/specs. Her apprearance is identical and even her name is as close to the same as game limitations allow. Her approach is to wake up in the morning and decide whether to grab her staves and play as one of several types of mages or to grab a pair of bows and play as one of a few types of pure archers. She is the same elf in my mind regardless of her trappings of the day. Another benefit is that if she manifested only as one class, we would have long ago rage quit the game when that class took its low turn in the rotating wheel of nerfs and buffs.

Not surprisingly, I think of her as one main who manifests as several variants. I also appreciate any aspects of the game that are account (not character) bound.

I don't understand why some players have multiple characters of the same class, for instance multiple stamplars, but all built for PVE. Not criticizing it, its just not something I do.

A lot of it has to do with the way I envision powers/spells and the fact that I come to MMORPG via tabletop gaming (and usually play online with the same crew I still game with).

I love familiars; so of my first say, 7 characters all of them were Sorcs. Eventually I had to re-roll one of them as a NB; because she was basically an assassin in terms of roleplay. Pretty much still hate that class, it seems to be the least versatile, but I'm getting used to it.

I have no "main" in the way that most think of it. I do have a couple of characters that have "the most achievements" and "the most skills/motifs"; but they aren't the most played. They are both sorcs; an Altmer Magicka Sorc who usually plays as a DPS, can heal most non-vet and a few vet things, and an Orc who is my battlemage (really fun overland build using Heem Jas and Leeching that just blows through mobs like tissue paper).

I don't really care about achievements, I'm not that much of a completionist, and most of my new characters come from "an idea for the character" in terms of interesting backstory.

Lately my "favorite" character has been my Argonian Warden Healer "Listens-at-the-Door" (think philosophically about what healers do and you will have an idea what "door" she is listening at). I like to muck about with builds and had set up a "shield" based on Prayer Shawl (over healing gives a shield) and Combat Physician (crit healing gives a shield) then throw in IceHeart and Zaan (the 1-peice bonus adds crit).

This was a kind of crappy build for a while; looked decent on paper and just did not play out; then they nerfed the sets, and redid the CP and now it's working a lot better. I wouldn't play it in vet, but it's lovely for say, farming Arx or Banished Cells.

    Anyway, no "main" class.

Hated the idea of Necro, and said "I'll never play that" ... until I came up with an idea for a backstory and "just had to" re-create Domino Fae the Pirate Queen (originally a character of mine on EU) as a necro. And then I "just had to" create a Telvanni "experiment" who honed her powers, and murdered her captor to escape.
Tenesi Faryon of Telvanni - Dunmer Sorceress who deliberately sought sacrifice into Cold Harbor to rescue her beloved.
Hisa Ni Caemaire - Altmer Sorceress, member of the Order Draconis and Adept of the House of Dibella.
Broken Branch Toothmaul - goblin (for my goblin characters, I use either orsimer or bosmer templates) Templar, member of the Order Draconis and persistently unskilled pickpocket
Mol gro Durga - Orsimer Socerer/Battlemage who died the first time when the Nibenay Valley chapterhouse of the Order Draconis was destroyed, then went back to Cold Harbor to rescue his second/partner who was still captive. He overestimated his resistance to the hopelessness of Oblivion, about to give up, and looked up to see the golden glow of atherius surrounding a beautiful young woman who extended her hand to him and said "I can help you". He carried Fianna Kingsley out of Cold Harbor on his shoulder. He carried Alvard Stower under one arm. He also irritated the Prophet who had intended the portal for only Mol and Lyris.
    ***
Order Draconis - well c'mon there has to be some explanation for all those dragon tattoos.
House of Dibella - If you have ever seen or read "Memoirs of a Geisha" that's just the beginning...
Nibenay Valley Chapterhouse - Where now stands only desolate ground and a dolmen there once was a thriving community supporting one of the major chapterhouses of the Order Draconis

I am not that much of an altholic. I like to complete story contents and achievements with 1 character and others are for specific purposes.
My main is a Warden because after talking to a lot of people irl I realised I rather talk to a bear.
Secondly I wish there will be a Bear companion in the new system but I understand all of them have personalities and backstory/quest so I will settle for a fat orc.

For me, my main is the one I go out of my way to earn achievements on. My first toon was a DK so that is what my main has to be unless I want to farm all those achievements on an alt.

WTB class change token or account wide achievements, please.
This, my main as in my current stamsorc is my first and also my main, primary PvP but does all the quests and similar like master angler. She has all the quest achievements all the skyshards and bosses. Was so happy finding an quest in Cyrodil some months ago but it was just an pointer to an quest I done. Found that stamsorc work well enough in PVP and working towards overlord:)
For trials I prefer my stamplar who does most dps, for dungeons my magplar who does a bit less dps but is also an healer without an resto staff, with one she heal trials, she is popular in vet dlc dungeons as you get an 30k DD with some buffs and emergency heals who can use dressing room to scale up to an full trial healer, has an dlc setup too
