Because there hasn't been any major updates to the psn in the last couple of weeks. But this is the 2nd week in a row there has been an issue. And they just coincidently got bought by Sony's competitor.
Makes me feel like maybe MS wanted ZOS to update our servers after they finished MS and PC. So maybe they can't even start on ours until they finish with Microsoft products. But they all gotta come down at the same time for whatever reason. Just my personal theory. I wouldn't be trying to guess if they just told us why we keep having issues.
I would agree that performing maintenance during a Holiday might indicate a lack of situational awareness. I feel bad for those in the UK and elsewhere who had the whole day off today and couldn't play.I honestly think people would be less fired up if it wasn't a bank holiday here in Europe (or at least where I am in the UK). The decision to do the maintenance today was really bad timing.

The game has ALWAYS ran buggy and laggy on ALL platforms. Why are you taking it so personally. Microsoft acquiring Zenimax Media has nothing to do with it.
In fact I just watched a bit about how Sony's little system requiring your console to constantly sync to their servers could potentially brick your unit and even leave you unable to play any of your titles on PS4 once they drop the servers supporting it because of PS5.
So yeah, maybe you SHOULD blame Sony.

Placing a priority on servicing your own products first is not something that Sony could sue over, nor is it something that would cause other companies to stop doing business with a company as large as Microsoft.
You're allowed to give premium service to your own customers, so long as it doesn't go so far as to be anti-competitive.

If you don't play on the PS4/PS5 and aren't affected, then why are you reading this forum?
Come on be real didn't Microsoft just buy this company? The game runs fine on a pc I don't play on xbox but maybe you should play on a pc. I don't think they are purposely trying to make your game run bad, maybe ps4 needs a update too? As consoles go how long does the current console last? I am asking because I don't own one and only play on a pc.

My post LITERALLY says I only play on PS4/5. Great job at reading, chief. 👍

The problem being that, in ESO, PS users are their customers too. If they really wanted to oust PS, they could just oust them, they wouldn't have to mess with the patches to do it. All they'd have to do is close down the servers. Anyone mad would be directed to the ToS, and let the "we're gonna need more popcorn" begin.
No, I don't play on XBox. <nifty pre-emptive strike. I also don't own a PS, and you couldn't pay me to. I still remember when Sony sabotaged my computer, and all my unrelated digital rights, for having the nerve to play a music CD on my computer. Not rip one, mind you, just play one.

I don't think they want to oust ps users. They want Playstation to succeed because it's more money for them. I do think they'd want to incentivize us to play on XBOX or PC instead though. If not now, then eventually. So maybe we miss out on some perks or maybe maintenance is just a little faster, that kind of thing. They probably did run into a genuine issue with Playstation, but I also think maybe they could have caught it earlier if PS was serviced first since it had an issue last week. But they serviced it last because it's a Sony product. That's my personal theory anyway. I could be way off base

My point being is if this was an ongoing Xbox issue ...wait you'd be cool with it. See the one thing We console players have in common is we're all peasants...underlings, but one day we will rise up goddmt, lol.
In all actuality I'm just having fun with the maint issues I'm in my cubicle at work rn and like poking at Xbox users, all fun no animosity @ArchMikem . You have a great rest of your day

There's no way as a user you can know what goes on internally with the psn network in relation to eso. Im not saying its not eso but you cant assume who is at "fault" without having any internal info.

Why should I play on PC? So, you are saying because I own a PS console (which was bought in 2014 and runs fine) this is my fault and I should buy a different platform? Get real.

I wouldn't know what order, if any they did it in. It would make sense, to me, to have a team, no matter how small, dedicated to each platform, since the backend stuff is different for all of them, well, the main three? Not sure how different from PS 4 to 5, for example. It's just that all the tinfoil hat stuff does is agitate people that are already rightfully aggravated.

I disagree. As an affected user who's already rightfully agitated, I have found commiseration in the posts that are also speculating and blowing off steam. And actually only been agitated by the people telling us not to be agitated. I think as long as people aren't claiming zos is doing something illegal or nefarious, or harassing staff, it's fine. We're all a bit annoyed and this is the place we're supposed to discuss our complaints, after all. I think it would help a lot if zos gave us some insight into why this is keeps happening.
And now ZOS are blaming Sony
