Will you make use of your Companion(s)?

Simple question, simple answer.

Do you plan to use your companion(s)?

I‘m deliberately not adding other poll options, as I just want to know what the general consensus on companions is. I don’t want to hear yes, but... or no, except... answers. Just a simple yes or no. If you’d like to explain your answer, please do so in the comments.

For me it’s a simple no. I hate the idea and I won’t use them (granted, I didn’t even pre order Blackwood, so I can’t use them either), even if they deal 50k DPS or make me immortal. I don’t want to lose the last remnants of challenge in PvE. And I generally hate the idea of (battle) companions in an MMORPG. This feature worked in Star Wars The Old Republic because the entire game was designed with companions in mind. In ESO they will be either broken, useless or just unnecessary as ZOS won’t revamp / re-balance everything before Blackwood to fit companions into old content.

Sorry. Other - I don't know yet if I'm going to mess with them at all, so neither option you provided is appropriate from my point of view.

You need an undecided as some people will want more information or even to try the companion system before deciding to use it or not. If it is more of a pain than gain for them, then they might not want to bother. Or they might be teetering on the fence and can go either way. Things are almost never as simple as black or white, go or stop, yes or no.

They are likely going to add to the dps meters since it is confirmed to be allowed in trials, so yes

Probably but only on those occasions where they are needed, not for everyday adventuring. If I'm soloing a dolmen as was the case the other day then yes, they'd be handy albeit not strictly necessary, but not soloing a delve where they aren't needed at all, for example. They'd doubtless be handy in a dungeon where I was only looking to get the skyshard, but I doubt I'll use them to increase more generally the content that I do now. Of course, much depends on how exactly they work.

I will probably use them when soloing dungeons but I dont expect them to help much. If you cant solo something currently then you probably cant with companion either. Their skills have long cooldowns and I doubt they're intelligent enough to deal with mechanics. For sure you can use them to tank FG1 so you can just parse in peace but wherever theres more than 1 thing to taunt they're useless, like elite adds in dlc dungeons that can kill me or last boss (3 of them) in BRF for example. Also dont expect them to interrupt when needed like in MHK or in alot of other dungeons. And we already know that they're not immortal coz they have self heals and dmg reduction skills, so expect them to get 1 shot slot in harder content. Even their spammables have 8 sec cooldown lol. I cant see them doing more than 2-3k dps. So it's better even to take some random 5k bow spammer pug into group than use companion.
The only use other than for solo it may be in trials. It may be good to have only 1 in group to buff everyone. The skills showed on livestream the dude had molten weapons skill. It buffed group members dmg for 20% for 8 sec with 16 sec cooldown. So its 10% avg but you loose 1 real player dps who would pull that amount anyways so we have to wait and see.
Atm it seems like the companions are mostly for casuals doing overland, WBs, easy normal dungeons etc, and for RPers. They are not replacement for people in harder content.

Have to see how they work, I see some danger that they just get annoying then questing or farming as they pull enemies and end up fighting them then I have to open an door or mount up.
On the other hand they could be pretty nice doing world bosses and other non trivial stuff.
I will definitely level them up and gear them just for the experience.

In group dungeons, if they take up an member slot, I say they are an waste for me as I don't bothering solo dungeons.
Grinding just make you go in circles.
Asking ZoS for nerfs is as stupid as asking for close air support from the death star.

I'm putting off questing on most of my characters until I can unlock Companions on them, only 3 of my characters are screwed because they did everything already. That's going to make leveling Companions with those 3 much more difficult.

at the very minimum, I will complete their stories at least once. whether I use them on multiple characters will depend on how effective they are. I couldn't care less about challenge if I tried. I want to see the stories. I'm hoping that companions will allow me to experience dungeon stories, at my own pace, without depending on other people.
    dirty worthless casual.

As a PvE soloist, my primary interest in a companion is just that - companionship for my elf. I prefer AI companions to live ones because the AI ones stay in character 100% of the time, their schedule perfectly mirrors mine avoiding any and all scheduling concerns, they don't get sick, they don't have irl things to attend to. . . . My magward loves adventuring with her bear and prefers it to other gamers for the same reasons.

I don't really care how much damage they can do and I sure don't care about any 'balance' considerations. Rather, I'm much more interested in things like the fact that they will be able to ride a mount alongside you. If having them along can add a couple more dungeons/WBs to those I can solo that is simply a bonus. :)

Varanis Arano might team up with Mary. It's been a while since she's gotten to hang out with a fellow Dunmer woman.

My Silencer only works with her brothers and sisters in darkness, and she somehow doubts that Bastian is interested in being recruited into the Dark Brotherhood.

Companions sound fun. I'm looking forward to them.

I just hope we don't get a lot of stereotyping (for example, a Khajiit who's a thief, a Nord who's a drunk, a Dark Elf who is evil, a Redguard who talks about honor and his ancestors every five seconds, etc.). They need to drop their typical stereotypes and do something unexpected and fresh with the characters.

    No.
Over world content is already easy enough.
I also have no intention or interest in this expansion.
I would have bought it if they added a (good) new skill line or class.

I will most certainly be using them. Probably not in overland content though. Most of that I can solo just fine except for a few world bosses. Harder stuff is where I'll be using them. An extra helping hand doesn't hurt ;)

Dailies. Daily quests actually pay pretty good. Also you have the 3Ds: Dolmens, Dungeons, and Delves.

No, there's always Guildmates willing to run PvE content/bosses/dungeons, and, AFAIK, you can't take them into PvP. Now, if I never had anyone to run with, maybe.

I'm not enthused about Companions except for one simple reason...

If they work like I'm hoping they do, my partner and I will never have to put up with PUGs again -- but we'll still be able to easily get our Random Dailies done without jumping through hoops! Now we can just duo them without using alt accounts or any other LFG finagling! Huzzah!!

I just hope Bastion enjoys sitting in the corner and staring at the wall while my friend and I are off handling business! :D

You mean, they'll reduce DPS because they're going to replace another player.

For dungeons, trials, and arenas, a companion will take up a player slot. You will not have 12 players with 12 companions. You'll have 6 players with 6 companions replacing the other 6 players.

This is also why they can't be used in solo arenas.

I doubt companions will have any use in the endgame. They're targeted at the single-player crowd. This is ZOS's answer to the countless threads asking for a level of difficulty even lower than normal ("story mode") or for those people who are oddly allergic to grouping in a MMO.

For people who already play group content, this feature looks like it's 100% worthless.

    Yes!

As a main tank I hope they are good enough to do overland content with in a reasonable pace(atleast 25-30k dps). The game needs dual spec! (I'd be running 18 tanks if there was dual spec)

If companions turn out to be useless, I am going to be more pissed off at the new feature, than I am going to be happy with ZOS even adding them.

i think it would only be fair, that if they use one of the 4 slots in dungeons, they should also get their own loot at the final boss.
In that case, farming a set could be nicer, as you dont have to login with 4 accounts, but only with 2 to get all 4 drops at the end.

if they cant loot, i dont see too much sense to use them. Except maybe on my zoo-fun-sorc. :D "they" are 6 then, non fighting pet included.
