Teachers and students and parents work from home for the past year... What do you mean it takes a type of discipline most people don't have? LOLOL

It is also hard for most people to work from home. It takes a type of discipline most people don't have. It's one of the reasons most people can't own a successful business either. Working from home as part of a team also becomes a struggle. You have to change the way you interact with your coworkers. You have to make more effort to be present on calls and in meetings. You have to try harder to keep your focus on the meetings. It's actually difficult for most people who are use to a traditional environment.

While you may have a lot more free time on your hands this year, the dev team probably had to work more. There was more they had to fix, more that had to be sent back and forth between them, more waiting, more of everything.

It doesn't excuse their shoddy work. It should always be quality over quantity. I really think they were just trying to capitalize on the pandemic and people being stuck at home and bored. Gaming, even if you pay for a sub, is the cheapest form of entertainment available as long as you stay out of the premium shops.

We haven't had a dev lead engage the players since Wrobel left in early 2019. Ironically, the game was its most stable during his reign as well.

That letter is very moving and I appreciate Matt reaching out to us. I love eso and it's because of the incredible, spectacular work of our zenimax team. I think they are phenomenal people our dev team 😊💕💕💕💕

ah yes, because 1 studio letter over the course of a whole year is the exact communication we need.

the devs could come on here at any time and talk whilst answering questions like in every other gaming community.

They have a PR team that does this for them. That team acts as a buffer from all the people that will dogpile the devs with redundant questions without actually giving any intelligent feedback or constructive criticism. Most people, sadly, will just use it to vent frustration over problem X they are having. This community also has a large number of players that don't actually want their problems fixed, they just want to complain about them. Something i learned from my time here.

Kinda crazy they have a whole PR team and community manager that barely interact with the community. Makes me wonder what they are getting paid for.

Fairly certain the whole PR team consists of 2 people, maybe 3.

How hard to 3 ppl is to answer ppl question on official forum once per 3-4 days (at least for couple of them).

Yeah that isn't even close to the same thing.

    1. Teachers have already admitted they work 10 times harder from home and the quality of work is subpar.
    2. A student's livelihood isn't dependent on their schooling. They aren't going to get fired from school, because they didn't get their job done.
    3. Teaching a class and learning in that class is very much a two person dance. Teaching from home and learning from home are literally the two easiest things to do remotely because of the style and limited interaction needed.
    4. Developing a game is magnitudes harder than going to and teaching a class. One is like watching Bob Ross teach me how to paint happy little trees and the other is like painting the Sisine Chapel.
    5. Unlike the lecture style interactions in school, when you are developing something as part of a team there are a lot of puzzle pieces that must fit together to work.

My wife is a senior learning leader for a Fortune 100 company. She works from home normally( not just during the pandemic), She is in charge of development of training for employees in various manufacturing and business programs. Putting the training modules together is infinitely more work than the actual teaching and learning portion. Her team is made up of several people with special skills.

When my wife develops a training module, it involves a lot of cat herding, coordinating her team members, working with subject experts, working with her client( typically a person above her in her company) to make sure the training fits what they are looking for, etc., etc.

Every team member has a function and they also coordinate with everyone that function has an effect on. So they are doing a similar level of back and forth as her. Their jobs are extremely interactive.

If remote learning is normal white gold tower , what my wife does is normal Hel Ra Citadel What a game development team does is closer to Vet Cloudrest. It is far far harder to coordinate developing a complex video game remotely than it is to do remote learning.

People really need to stop blindly defending their favorite companies. This forum has developed a cult mentality like ive never seen before in my 20 years of PC gaming, where the fans think nothing can possibly be wrong with the game and are making endless excuses for the rampant mismanagement, preventing proper feedback to be communicated to the company which would actually result in improvements.

Mark my words, its the enabler cultist fanbase that will kill this otherwise beautiful game full of potential.

Don't talk about blindness as people here whinge about lack of communication while purposefully not paying attention to the fact that the community managers have been responding to bug reports all week since they got back from holiday.

What mmos do you play where the Devs come on the forums and do that?

Swtor, lotro and wow are a few I've played over the last few years and like eso they have CM that deal with the forums.

I don't think anyone at ZOS is nefarious in intent and I think they probably do the best they can....which unfortunately, isn't very good.

Devs and their management haven't been very popular in the last year and a half or so. Could have something to do with it.

Ive been absent from the forums for a couple of weeks now so i have to say this is a pleasant surprise and a big step in the right direction after what happened with markarth, so cheers to the devs caring.

However, this doesnt change the fact that this community has a massive defense mechanism that is hurting the game, especially the PvP people who have been treated like second hand players for a long time, mostly by the game's own community.

I would bet money on the fact that someone would reply and tell me to play another game if i want to pvp, if i didnt point this out.

I think it's more a case of (a) most players not being competitive PvPer or PvEers and not having the issues that upset those specific players, (b) most players understanding the difference between forum moderators and developers, (c) many players who are looking for ZOS communications failing to check the Dev Tracker, and (d) most players recognising that limited official communication on forums is typical of most if not all MMORPGs and not something that singles ZOS out as especially uncaring or incompetent. Moreover, when you see the attitude of some players towards the developers in all game forums (including this one) it's not surprising that they mostly stay away and just rely on their community management teams to watch forum activity and keep them appraised of the main talking points.

There are no problems when no one talks about them.

how do you assume that so recklessly? there are many topics and people complaining everywhere, in game and forums and reddit and youtube and discord and this forum again. Dominant pvp builds, lack of choice for pve, crashes, events are just loot fests, updates and patches too rarely, when there are updates and patches they are upside down changes instead of little by little adjustments, silence about what is going on, promises, no explanations, bugs reported not addressed, etc. From a game with such popularity you would expect all these.

I only did two threads but there are many other around that i assume you didn't bother to read before assuming.
the only things excellent in this game are the art, both audio and visual, and fluidity and versatility of combat and building. The rest, including stories and NPC AI, are insulting to player's intelligence.

It is good that they started responding to the issues, especially tthese 2 months old. Still since markarth patch there was hunderds bugs that ppl were asking for, answering to 5 after two months is not enough. Good start but don't treat it like "they now respond after silence so everything is okay". Until the game is in its current state, it is not okay
