Can't launch game. "Patch required, please download and install" error - but no patch is available?

    I know some people are upset but I feel like ZOS turned this around pretty quickly. Something got rolled out by accident. They investigated the issue and identified a fix. They are now in process of rolling it out, less than 6 hours after the incident happened. Yes, this made the game unplayable so they needed a fix but they are working very quickly.

    Now here is hoping we don't have to re-install the game in the morning.

    I've been that person getting crashes every day for weeks now as well. I'm just saying for this particular instance, they are turning it around quickly. I'm just as frustrated as most others in here about the constant issues this game has had for a long time (not just since Markarth). I've seen issues like the guild trader information not showing up being an issue for months. I guess the game has to stop working 100% for it to get emergency turn-around.

    Almost like people not employed were more prepared for issues than the employees themselves

    The rapid response ZOS has deployed to address this issue is indicative of just how massive a blunder this was: an avoidable error that brought down an entire platform on one of the busiest nights of play, during an event, after weeks of dealing with frequent crashing.

    People are rightfully upset about this, and anything but the fastest fix possible from ZOS would be entirely unacceptable.

    The event literally seems to have nothing to do with this issue though. It seems like it is similar to what happened with F76 last week. Something is probably off with Microsoft releasing patches early. Not much Zos can do when Microsoft messes up the release of a patch that was supposed to drop 5 days from now.

    Someone let the client patch loose days before server patch maintenance was to be done. And ZOS has to do it now.
    But on the other hand xboxers get to see first if the fixes actually fix things. When its done.

    Well, I just tried to log in PC NA with no problem, so your issue is likely not related to xbox patch mishap.

    Well, I just tried to log in PC NA with no problem, so your issue is likely not related to xbox patch mishap.

    thank you , it is all working again with log in , but the panic is is due to constant bugs , sorry for that

    At this point I don't even care. I have played pretty much just this game for the last two years because my game time is very limited by my family demands. I only get about two hours a day to play and last night was one of the rare times I could have had a 4-6 hour session. I have put up with ridiculously long load screens, random freezes and crashes, various bugs with grim determination because I truly enjoy this game, but this is pretty much it for me. I have had eso plus for those past two years, but I think I'll be canceling my sub and moving on. I might drop in and do my dailies, but my dedication to this game was broken last night.

    Stop complaining about the employees who aren't getting enough resources it seems and put the blame on the leadership.

    I missed my tickets and box yesterday, got locked out of a daily reward, and today my event tickets and box didn't even drop. This is extremely unacceptable and I'm seriously considering cancelling my sub.

    This is something I think often gets overlooked.

    Are the developers struggling? Yes. But the most likely answer isn't that they're incompetent, they're probably trying to do the best they possibly can. Its likely that management isn't giving them the resources (funding, staff, time, equipment, etc) to get the job done better.

    Anyone who's worked in a corporate hell hole for more than 5 seconds should be familiar with this phenomenon.

    Especially where video game software development is concerned.
    You can go all the way back to Atari in the late '70s and early '80s (Golden Age of Atari 2600), and hear of the struggles the devs had to deal with.

      I am sorry, I have been on this forum from Beta, started paying on day - 5 and for the whole time I have read posts from people who whine about things, some bad some not so much... it always starts out "This needs an immediate Hot Fix"... normally in caps, bold and underlined... the folks at ZOS put out an immediate hot fix and the next wave is "Your hot fix was worse then the patch, don't you test anything?" again, caps, underlined and bold... and so on...

      This latest bug seems to be a big one (to everyone, including myself) who does dungeons and trials... when the tank dc's in the boss fight it's not a good thing... granted, it can be funny, while I was scrambling to get back on and being told I was already logged in, I was told on discord that I was still blocking the boss as it died... then I went off line and was able to log back in...

      But in these days with all the panic over Covid 19 we need to give some allowances to ZOS, I am not happy about the crashes, but I am happy they are taking their time to insure the fix for the issue will fix the issue and I hope it will fix it for everyone... pulling your support of the game will do nothing for the game you say you like...

      Good luck, I hope they get it right... and in Scalecaller peak, don't look at the bosses eyes, it has a special ability to cause you to DC...
      Of all the things I have lost, I miss my mind the most...

      I would really like to have an explanation of what lessons learned they took from the Undaunted event early this year, and what caused this current event’s meltdown. Are they the same problems or new ones? And what will they do in future to avoid a repeat?

      Just checking in on the status of what you plan to do to compensate the many XB players who were unable to play last Saturday and get their event tickets and glorious box. I posted in another thread where Jessica recommended that players submit a ticket if they didn't get their box today on PC, as there seem to be some issues for them.

      Should I do this for my missing tickets this past Saturday, or are you planning on compensating us in some way?
