Pale order ring - bad man’s hollow

Just shy of 3 hours in Bad Man's Hollow to get the lead. Definitely took the longest of all the fragments. It's a bad delve to place leads on trash mobs. There simply aren't enough and they are spread very far out. Especially when the instance gets crowded and it becomes a race to thit the target.

I didn't so much mind the mob density; they respawned quickly.
The thing that annoyed the hell out of me was the fact that they don't drop anything most of the time, even if you're alone on a mob.
THAT is true trash, and a complete waste of time.

guys i got the lead, and digged it out after complete, i got nothing... checked the journal there i can see found:2 but i got no ring it was my last lead to find.. how is that possible? it was my very first so i dont have the ring and not a second try... anyways after that i said ok lets try again all night long no more lead comes. the issue is how didnt system give me the ring? how can i shows 2 times found but in fragments missing and there is a question mark there... i got the lead, finished digging and got nothing.. PS4/ EU

Did you get the wrong lead? The lead for a piece of the Wild Hunt ring is in Bad Man's Hollow too. I got that first and had the same experience as you- I dug that up and then freaked out because I didn't realize it was the wrong lead.

I did the exact same thing. Luckily, when I went back I got the correct lead within 30 minutes

This is a terrible place to put a lead in. Few mobs and most of them drop nothing. Get a couple of speed farmers in there and you will have very little chance to tag anything.
ZOS please put more thought in where you put highly desired leads.

They probably did, and thats why they decided it was the perfect spot.

I've been in there for multiple hours on each of the last three days and it hasn't dropped for me yet.
When I DO get it, I'm never setting foot in that dungeon again.

I am with you. So far I've got six hours in there competing with way too many people for trash mobs, and no lead. I will cross the dungeon off my list if I ever get the lead. No thanks.

The drop rate is indeed horrid and this is compounded by small and scattered mob density, then further exacerbated by even one additional player—if not grouped—farming as well. If you get 3 or more players farming in there at once you might as well log out and do something else.

Took me about 20 hours over a five day period. I made friends with a sweet and determined fellow who was in there for days and days now. Such high spirits considering I would’ve clawed my eyes out by then.

And yes, I’ve passed mine and others feedback on to our kindly overlords. (I’ll share this thread, too.)

Amazing how much time we are spending to get this one item that will likely be hit with a massive nerf next expansion.

I assume it goes without saying, and I guess it has already been brought up, wear the wild hunt ring while farming this lead since there is often a lot of open space to cover without combat.

thanks for the the advices, i am still at work right now going to check later again, it wasnt the wild hunt piece, i mean lets say it was the fragment of wild hunt, why does lead journal says founded:2 for that fragment. i didnt find it twice, just once and it flew away after digging.. and yes i found all others already. really strange one. no matter where i touch in ps4 / Eu ithey turn to dust :( i am running away from content to content really desperate and dont know what would be next

It sounds like you've got a bigger problem than what we can help you with here. I suggest going to their support page and submitting a ticket. If the items you dig up are disappearing or disintegrating there's something wrong. Their ticket load has been heavy lately and they are backed up, but I really think you should contact them.

tl;dr: Try farming during weird off hours.

I get the feeling that the RNG drop rates are affected by over-farming. I also spent hours and hours farming that lead then finally gave up. Came back during off hours (i.e. 5am Pacific time) and the lead literally dropped on the first skeever. I can't confirm this and I have no technical evidence, but I wonder if the drop rates reduce in proportion to the number of players farming the same location at the same time.

I finally got the lead myself, but it probably took longer than any other lead. So glad we can craft additional ones now and not have to find the leads a second time.

Edit: I still think the issue is the low population of NPCs in that delve. When I found the lead I went in the early morning so there would be fewer players farming It works as I found more NPCs available.

The problem is not only the low number of mobs, but also the number of people who are in there for the same reason. We are all trying to get that ring. Zos picked a bad dungeon to put it in.

So much this. The dungeon itself is pretty awful. Compound that with the fact the overland set drops are....not great. AND, the Wild Hunt lead also drops in the same dungeon. The choice to use Bad Man's Hallow really feels like a lazy move on the part of ZOS. Very much a "meh, whatevs. Players will farm it." sort of decision.

When I went in with my PC NA main, the Pale Order lead dropped literally within 2 minutes, possibly within 1 minute. IIRC it dropped from a shalk.

When I went in with my PC EU main some hours before that, I ran around for what seemed like an hour, if not longer, and did not get it-- although in hindsight I may have been focusing on the wrong MOBs (insane sacrifices and skeletons). I went back in later, after getting it on my PC NA main, and was invited to group with another player, which I accepted. Then a third player joined our group. We were running around separately for the most part, but if one of us killed something, often the rest of us were also able to loot the corpse when we got around to that part of the dungeon, so grouping might help with tagging. In any case, after about 20 or so minutes of running around, I finally got it to drop from (IIRC) a skeleton next to a shalk, not so far from where I'd found it on PC NA.

So besides grouping, I'd suggest focusing more on the shalks and skeletons in the central or southern portion of the dungeon, and forget about the insane sacrifices-- although I imagine a dozen people will now chime in to say that in their case the lead dropped from an insane sacrifice!

The type of mob doesn't matter, as long as it isn't a boss (it doesn't drop from the bosses; only the Wild Hunt lead does).

It drops from the shalks, the snakes, the skeletons, the Insane Sacrifices (mine dropped from these), those tick-like bugs, and even the skeevers.
It's all RNG. It can drop quickly, or take forever.

Grouping doesn't appear to have any added effect, either, because I was grouped for over an hour on the first day I was in there. (it didn't drop for me until day four; 7-8 hours total).
In the end, I got it on my own.

I don't understand why they decided to make the lead drop from trash mobs in what may possibly be the ONLY public dungeon without trash mobs.

It took me a lot of grinding. I don't know how many hours, but could have been near 5. Very annoying. Would have been a lot better if I had a character to level, but I have 18 max level characters already. And there are always multiple people grinding there.
Took a few hours, got it eventually. It's a fun place to run around and with bonuses from this exploration event it was good for gold.

I think we have different perspectives on gaming because I doubt I could ever find running around a single dungeon for 4 hours fun. Grinding that ring was quite a chore. Made me miss getting Wild Hunt, the only other antiquity item I tried to grind.

Yeah, I feel the same way when I'm watching a streamer buy some crown crates and they get a pet or mount they've been wanting, followed by another crown crate with the same one which then gets converted into gems which they then use to buy some other pet or mount that they've been wanting! :D

Im not sure id even bother with getting this ring, you dont need it for any content in the game and its almost certain to get nerfed soon like they nerfed the strangler. i farmed 3 of them then boom, worthless lol. This time ill pass. I have completed the new vVH arena on 6 different toons (3 stam and 3 mag) w/o it just to prove it to my guild.

Do you reall want to use something so OP that you will not be able to do the content once its gone?

The number of people can be solved by going in during less populated hours. That is what I did when I got my lead and found more of the mobs spawned. Also, wear Wild Hunt so you can keep up with others. I noticed many had the ring equiped.

I was able to get my lead after about 2 hours of play time. I took characters that had not been in there before. I did both the quests, the group event and the 4 bosses while killing all trash I encountered. It took me 5 characters and I got the lead from a shalk on my way out.

I actually don't mind the dungeon, itself. I like the setting.
However, I hate that the mobs far too often drop nothing, and I just ended-up spending too much time in there for that one Pale Order lead (the Wild Hunt lead came right away on my first boss encounter in there), that I'm burned-out on it.

Yeah, I like the dungeon, too, mostly because I have some characters who are normally based out of Daggerfall, and Bad Man's Hollow is conveniently nearby for farming event boxes. But I normally focus on the bosses, not the MOBs, so I don't mind that they don't drop a ton of loot.

I’m not sure that there aren’t bugs with this. A couple things that seemed to help me when a lead wouldn’t drop:
          1. Log and then try
          2. Get rid of any other leads you have for that zone in the same quality level

It was probably just RNG, because I don't think either of those should make a difference-- but then, who knows how the deeply mysterious mind of RNGesus works? "Uh, you didn't tip your hat, spin around thrice in a circle, and skip to my lou before killing those MOBs, so no lead for you!"
