The game is not dying yet, but they are on the very edge of mass exodus I think. According to steam statistics this game has more players than ever in it's time through steam, I guess the same increase in player numbers could be shown if someone play NOT through steam as well.

However, the game is so *** broken now, and not just now but continously for the past 1-2 years that players will soon have enough and just migrate to another game on masse.

Well, this will hit PvE too unless they stated otherwise.
And they said it will be class rebalansing to try to save this mess.

I mean can we really be surprised at this point? ZoS has provided their players with less and less of a reason to maintain even a shred of optimism about the game, it's direction and it's future. That's something not many would dispute as is clearly evident (has been for a while) on these forums.

To be fair last test was only good, because most players were playing IC Event, Cyro was a ghosttown. And at the slightest grouping the game lagged out anyway.

Depends, if they do nothing things will stay more or less the same.

3 second cool down on anything who looks like AoE like crunching shock as other morph has secondary AoE effects.
Well that will cause an mass exodus from all than the snipe spamming casuals.

Yeah; they have shown they can put the cooldown in Cyrodiil only; but those adjustments to specific abilities I'm not sure.

I agree, @techyeshic yes they can do that but they are unwilling.
Yes separating pvp and pve so dramatic will be an balance challenge.
But AoE cool down will face just as large balance changes, you still has to think both PvP and PvE.

Not that I think they are stupid enough to add global cooldown on AoE.
Yes the balance team are independent but large drops in player count and revenue and they need to explain themselves.
This will hit all outside noobs spamming snipe or frag hard.
Player level from grinding public dungeons to trials as in majority. How many will drop out. 20%?

That I guess will happen is that they increase the cost of AoE making them uneconomical to have in a rotation on boss without adds, but ball groups in Cyrodil will still use them as they hit so many targets it makes sense.
In short an compromise who don't help and just make people miserable.

Grinding just make you go in circles.

Very frustrateing all week: 300+ ping, on off-peak hours. Campaign was pretty empty today and I had constant 300+ ping. It was frustrating to even just take resources, let alone get into fights. With these kind of populations, and the AoE cooldowns, and lag is getting worse...

Test 3 with ramping costs - I'm just going to use the Torc of Tonal Consistency, Engine Guardian with 2 proc sets one on the front bar and the other on the back bar. I guess everybody else will do something similar so test 3 will be as laggy as test 2.

I just worry that they will say "Well Test 1 was OK" - even though Cyrodiil was empty as most just didn't play or went to IC.

PC/NA noCP last night was the worst I’ve ever felt. Couldn’t CC break a streak at 100% stamina, 2-3sec Dizzy Swings. Constant 250-300 ping when groups around, but back to 80 when I get away from them.

Performance was pretty bad during primetime in phase 2. Is it the worst it's been? No, but that is a pretty low bar. Late last night, it felt pretty good to me. Not as good as last week, but certainly an improvement from the status quo (again, the status quo is a dumpster fire). I am going to be optimistic and hope that they are collecting valuable data.

Sort of a shame that there is no way to force people into their typical builds. Of course people are going to adjust, but if everyone redesigns from the ground up for the tests, there wont be any useful info that comes out of them.

Every single experienced player could've told ZOS that the aoe skills aren't the reason. We've had skill spamming and aoe skills even when they first introduced the champoint point system and it was never this bad.
In case someone here isn't a veteran:
When champion points were first released, we had a passive in the champion point system that directly reduced skill costs, making it possible to spam expensive skills even as a tank. E.g. you could spam BoL without running out of a magicka on a tank build.
This feels like the developers don't even play their own game.

My current hypothesis is that they code their game yandere dev style and messed up the branch predictor by using lots of if-then statements to code item sets or tried to shift things server side that should have stayed clientside.

Yea, first test def felt better but with the event in IC it’s hard to tell. As of this week cyro is back to its old laggy self. This morning NA we had a dc ball of maybe 15ish players during 2 bar pop completely make the server unplayable every time they were around. Someone said it in a prior reply but, the prob is and has always been balls and bunching. The servers just can’t handle it. Just decrease ap gains in groups of more then 6 and aoe can only target people in ur group and we should be fine. Or give people a reason to be in IC...

On PC-EU/Gray Host today I was disconnected four times, and this past week every time I even get near a keep with a ball group in it, my computer stops working. As a magplar I wasn't a fan of last week's test for the obvious reasons, but with no ball groups (apparently they were either sitting the test out or in IC) my system ran without any real problem. This week's test has been an utter disaster.

Test 1 was also a failure, the only reason why it was barely playable was because of the IC event and most players was in IC. This would be disheartening, but we've been there 2 years ago, now its just meh...they wont be able to fix it.

Whereas the development team is a sunk cost. They are already paying the developers, so might as well put the burden on them to re-develop the combat in a way that their standard server resources can handle.[/quote]

With the new PS5 and Xbox coming out soon, the developers will now have a lot more freedom in how the game works and functions. They may be waiting for that so that they can try and fix the lag issues.....or not

Going by tonight's [snip] its actually worse than before the tests.

As someone else said whats the bet the extra lag is due to the server now having to keep track of everybody's cooldown counters

One thing I think I have noted is that lag decreases quite a lot already when only 2 faction are locked and the other on 3 bars

Maybe a small reduction in max numbers per alliance would be a big improvement.

Not sure what numbers on steam you're seeing but it looks to me like they've lost all the gains they made from the Covid lockdown in March and the Greymore release.
