Suspended For Receiving Too Many Crown Gifts

I don't think they banned the account sending lots of gold. The OP says it was the new one getting all the Crown gifts.

On the issue of making gold: Doing the crafting dailies with minimal selling above that is not that difficult, as long as you can suffer through it. I am still maxing my skill points on 11-12 characters per sever (PS4 - EU/US) and I went from almost 0 to 1 million in a few weeks, though I keep buying recipes for my main on each, so I end up spending it.

It will really pile up once I get all the skill points done, though that is going to take a long time.

Since COVID started effecting pretty much everything tickets have had a backlog that is currently about two weeks. Zos people can check to make sure it is in the right place.

Also, I suggest only replying to the ticket when Zos sends you any reply concerning the ticket. Also, do not create a new ticket for the issue. Both will send the original ticket to the end of the queue making the wait longer. This is typical for many game CS systems.

    Good luck

Well, since nobody brought up that consideration:

By purchasing new account you mean a code to start an account, right? Not an already setup account?

Purchasing an account can render it invalid by definition, not even mentioning the possibility that that account might have violated the ToS and been a target long before you got it.

The more I think about this, the more it sounds like a post from a few days ago about the guy’s dad whose account got suspended because of a chargeback.

If one of the sellers of the crowns did a chargeback related to those crowns, or if they were using a stolen credit card and the charge was reversed for fraud, zos would suspend the affected accounts. Since they can’t recoup the spent crowns, they suspend the accounts that benefitted from them. Do you stay in contact with the players you bought crowns from? Did any of their accounts recently get suspended?

I do think it kind of sucks that they suspended the account first, before investigating. In the real world, they investigate first. And people at banks are trained to never reveal to a customer if they have concerns, exactly what tipped off those concerns, or whether the bank and/or authorities are investigating.

I expect that the ban comes from an automated system. I figure that ZOS bans first, then waits for the player to appeal. After that happen, then they look at it. If the player never appeals, then no one wasted any time on it.

Normal response time + COVID delay = really long time before ZOS looks at it. I am rather curious how this plays out.

That actually sounds like a very likely situation. You buy crown gifts from a seller. That seller than does a chargeback on the crowns to get their money back. ZOS will check to see where those gifts went and lock down those accounts for having laundered goods basically. It just makes me even more wary of zone sellers. I'll stick to the discords set up for those transactions.

People have problems with making crafting easier as part of the base game and here is probably one of many who do crafting on an alternate account just for gold. C’mon on ZOS make a crafting writs easier in base game for use peasants on console.

    Good luck getting unsuspended.

The gold reward is based off of character level. A CP810 character gets the same gold reward no matter if they have 1 skill point in crafting or 10.

Just a side note on the potential of money making by daily crafting writs: Your earnings dewpend on your server, too, as different servers have different economies. On PC/EU, for example, sealed writs are pretty much worthless, my Master Merchant price is usually around 100 gold per voucher. That might be different on PC/NA or console servers.

It's about 35k a week per toon for daily writs ...... where does the 2 million come in? Sorry for derail, genuinely curious.

Selling the gold/purple upgrade mats, master writs, intricates/recipes and other things you get doing the writs, I make a bit over a million in sales in addition to the gold I get from doing the writs themselves, then again I don't sell absolutely everything. Could probably get close to the 2 million mark if I bothered to do my surveys each week and sell the raw mats.

Where the mats coming from to do all these writs if he sells everything?

Got 3 accounts and I'm not even close to these numbers (but I don't sell anything)

For clarification, I'm on PC/NA. I started the "alt account" during free-to-play and then paid $10 within an hour to establish the account.

I received batches of crown gifts from 5 different players. All crown gifts came from players with at least 160CP. The first batch (4500 in crown gifts) was arranged through Tamriel Crown Exchange. The second batch (5000 in crown gifts) was arranged via a guild auction (one of my Mournhold trading guilds). The other three batches were with separate guild members in my other Mournhold trading guild (10000; 9000; and 4500 in crown gifts respectively).

I'm not honestly expecting ZoS to give us clear guidelines on crown gifting (since I agree with prior posts that my activity probably activated an automated suspension (i.e. a person never reviewed the situation)). It's also possible that they may never reinstate my "alt account". One of the earlier posts stated that it is already a 2-week wait before a person working at ZoS even reviews the situation.

So, I have two general questions for FORUM dwellers:
    1) What is the largest amount of crown gifts that you have received with an established account?
    2) What is the largest amount of crown gifts that you have received with a new account?
Stanko: Ebonheart Pact, CP 3600, Templar, Former Emperor on Azura's, Arena Gladiator, Flawless Conqueror, Spirit Slayer, Grand Overlord, Paragon, and of course Merciless.

They aren't likely to explain the limits on gifting that let them flag accounts for the same reason ZOS doesn't explain their discipline policies: if you tell people exactly where the line is drawn, some people are going to skate right up to the line. Its much easier to okay a few legitimate new accounts after the fact than open up the floodgates for bots.

There are always people like that, whether its a sibling waving their hand right in front of your face going "I'm not touching you!" or a student going "Three strikes and I'm out? Well, Then I'm gonna make strikes 1 and 2 really good ones!"

Well, that there is even such a thing as crown gift limits is disturbing, no?

I mean, getting gifts by themselves is not a bad or forbidden thing, imagine, you have an old account full of ESO+ crowns and gift to your own alt account and get banned, even that seems possible now.

    Not really disturbing, no.
You have to back up and think of limits like this less as "I'm a legitimate player, how dare ZOS flag me for review for doing this totally legitimate thing legitimately!" Instead, from a game design perspective, it's worth thinking of the Devs planning out "Hey, legitimate accounts doing this level of gifting legitimately are rare and easily reviewed after the fact, so we can set our limit here and mostly catch botting or account laundering. If we catch a legit account, we'Il review it."

That's pretty standard. We know there's a flag for moving around lots of gold between accounts. We also see it with social bans: there's an automated ban that happens when excessive messages are sent and then Support reviews it and reverts erroneous bans. Problems happen when the automated limit isn't calibrated correctly and catches too many legitimate users (which there seems to be an uptick in social ban threads, so I do wonder if the auto-ban needs to be revised.)

So it sucks for the OP being a legitimate account swept up in the anti-bot/anti-laundering limits. It should be sorted out by patiently but persistently working with Support.

I don't think it is the gifting. I think it is the gold moving around that attracted attention.

I paid 8,000,000 gold to get in vBRP for my first run and earn a perfected BRP lightning staff (wild impulse). I then used the staff (in conjunction with Malacath's Band, Valkyn's monster set, and Vicious Death) to earn "The Merciless" achievement. The spontaneous combustion was a sight to behold.

So, I don't think that it's the gold. I've tossed around millions at a time. I've never heard of that many crowns gifted in a 24 hour period though. Maybe I stumbled upon a way to break the game.

Any guesses on what the crown limit is before you get banned?

I doubt there is a 'crown limit.' There are likely accounts that get flagged based on certain criteria and then a subjective analysis is done based on the overall behavior of the account.

Your situation is odd though as it doesn't sound like there was anything of value going out from your suspended account. It sounds like all the value was just incoming. I can't fathom how that could be interpreted as any kind of money-making scheme. I guess they could imagine a situation where someone like me with 47k crowns from subbing (and no interest in cosmetics or housing) tries to convert the crowns to cash by getting $ from people to send them crown store items at discounted crown prices. But if that is the case, than the crown gifts should have been from a single account, which also should have been banned. They are probably looking at accounts in isolation (since there are too many to analyze as a graph of transactions) so anyone with gold in and gifts out seems legit, but anyone with little game activity and an imbalance in what is going in and out is flagged.

From ZOS's point of view, a new account with no real play time is suddenly moving millions in gold and crown gifts. You should just as well park an icecream truck outside a middle school. Sure you might being selling icecream, but any cop in the area should also knock on your door. Give time for the ticket and investigation to do its thing.

At least the cop would have to tell you why he was impounding your ice cream truck.

If you include selling all the intricate and ornate items, you usually earn over 5k per CP character. If you obtain various crafting achievements and complete motif chapters, you can increase your drop rate for sealed writs. You can sell the intricates for much more on the traders if you have the slots available.

Also, jewelry crafting writ rewards have a scaling upgrade mat drop rate so higher tiers provide higher quantities of gold and purple upgrade mats.

If you collect your surveys, you can refine for lots of improvement items. You can then sell the refine mats or use them to do sealed writs and use the vouchers to sell items like attunable crafting stations for lots of gold.

If you use lazywritcrafter, you can use the /outputwritstats command to see what your drop rates are based on the writs you have done. Unless, you do so many writs like me that you break the report.

Still breaks down to average 16k g per day per character.... JUST doing writs (and surveys and selling). I'm doing something wrong with my 12 characters, that's about 1/3 higher than what I experience. 2mil just seems high as an average... 1.2-1.5mil and I wouldn't have questioned it. Also all of your game time would be tied up in this.... but I digress.

Hopefully your account is unbanned OP.

Ras Kalik the Vestige, a renown Redguard warrior; He has been blessed to save Tamriel from Molag Bal’s destructive Planemeld while reuniting the Five Companions. His further accomplishments after defeating Molag Bal, has been to stop the destruction of Morrowind, the Clockwork City, return order to the isle of Summerset and create a new king in Wrothgar and a queen in Elsywer. These events have made him a living legend and continue to lead him into new adventures throughout Tamriel, as well as into the hearts of many ladies including the Elf Queen, Aryenn. Over many years of adventurous travels, Ras Kalik had become a loner, until he re-visited his homeland of Alik'r.

Alik'r and it's cities were overrun by the undead Ra-Netu and therefore he made an allegiance with Alik'r's own Ash'abah tribe. These Ash'abah with his help, cleansed the city of Sentinel in Alik'r desert and it's surrounding areas of the undead brought to life by the Withered Hand. After rescuing Sentinel from the undead zombies, King Fahara’jad’s personal bodyguard the Goliath of Hammerfell, who was given this name by Imperials in the region; was asked to assist the tribe after learning of the defeat of the Withered Hand to the Ash'abah. Kalik promised Goliath he would task him with fighting living enemies on the battlefield if he so desired. Goliath being a Yokudan warrior wields a massive sword in respect to the Ansei, a gift given by the Imperial, Cinan Tharn. Not many soldiers are able to wield double two handed weapons, but Goliath loves to get up and personal in a fight, so he also carries a giant maul, both weapons laced with magical flames.

Jux Blackheart is a master thief that masquerades as a Bard at the Sisters of the Sands inn, with his younger sidekick Lucky Hunch for pilfering and gambling during this time. Jux was known to infiltrate any towns bank vault he came across and even delved into Ayelid ruins without detection. Kalik can vividly recall the night he met the famed thief. Jux found himself rummaging thru a slightly inebriated Kalik’s pocket for too long, on a full-mooned night and because of his greed and the glimmer of his golden armor in the moonlight. He lost his left pinky fingertip as a lesson! But in return, he gained a new friend, as it was his first time since a child being caught red-handed...

Upon arrival back in the Alik'r after many moons of adventuring, Ras Kalik ventures to Bergama. Visiting The Winking Jackal, he runs into Jux Blackheart, who introduces him to the coin game Crowns vs Forebearers (Heads vs Tails) and Golden Dwemer (RBG).... Jux constantly takes gold from the unfortunate thru theft or gambling, his biggest gambling victim is actually his partner in crime known as Lucky Hunch the Gambler. Lucky doesn't mind losing any gold coins to Jux... as Jux saved him from Altmer slavers in Summerset, by stealing a key and sending him on a boat to the mainland years prior. Lucky spent years in slavery with Khajiits in Summerset and picked up the art of subterfuge, using illusion magic disguises and stealing there.

Kaotik Von’Daemon an outcast, and a half-caste between a Breton mother and a Redguard father. Kaotik become a pariah due to his conjuration of Daedra pets. He was taught healing magic during his childhood years by his Breton mother. His father due to Redguard customs exiled him from the desert, sending him by wagon caravan to be a soldier in the war in Cyrodiil. He happened to meet Kalik while traveling from Alik'r, during this long caravan ride the caravan he was in was ambushed in Bangkorai by a group of bandits. Kalik by chance was also traveling thru this area on his Auridon Warhorse (which was bestowed to him by his friend, Darien Gautier). During this ambush, Kalik was able to rescue five hostages from the bandits. Kaotik was the first rescued, and Ras Kalik also recruited him to be in the Ash'abah tribe. These core Ash'abah tribesmen may never be seen together in travel as they partake in their own adventures but they always know what each other is doing; as they frequent a hideout in northern Bankorai. Their hideout an old Orc castle ruin, is kept watch by Nuzhimeh and she passes messages written between them, and frequently they also enjoy her company and her bed.

The other men rescued were a Dunmer banker, an Imperial mercenary and two other soldiers, an Imperial and a Breton Knight, stating proudly he was an Akavir descendent. One of the Imperials, Cinan, claimed to be related to Abnur Tharn the Battlemage of the Imperial Elder Council (One of Ras Kalik's mentors in the Five Companions). Cinan Tharn was really Abnur's drunkard treasure hunting illegitimate son. He was caught smuggling artifacts out of the Ayleid ruins in Cyrodiil and the elder of the two Imperials was Tyrus Septim a retired Imperial navy battle-mage (now a Lycan mercenary living in the city of Rimmen) and guard to the Tharn family. As much as Abnur Tharn hated his half-sister Euraxia, he dislikes his bas†ard son Cinan more. Tyrus now a ruffian and privateer had been paid by Abnur Tharn to watch over Cinan as much as possible. Cinan Tharn a drunkard, loves to drink at least a quarter barrel of Nord mead before he raids various delves and dungeons for relics to sell on the black market. Cinan also plans to one day, run an illegal gambling ring... which he thinks will net him more gold for his wares.

The Dunmer captive shackled to the Imperials looked familiar to Kalik from his time in Morrowind.... and he recognized him as Tythis Andromo a House Telvanni slave-owner and banker from Vvardenfell. During a rough interrogation to Tythis, Ras Kalik learnt why the bandits accosted him. The racist Dunmer was providing slaves as soldiers for the Three Banner War. The bandits were trying to negotiate a lucrative ransom for Andromo and the Imperials.... Kalik did not need any of this gold and he could never set Tythis free as he did with the two Imperial soldiers. His past involvement with slavery and war crimes, made Kalik's blood boil. He chose not to execute Tythis, as he figured the worse punishment for this former rich and opulent slave owner, is to now be an imprisoned servant for Ras Kalik and the tribe.

Herzog Zwei the Genesis a reknown Imperial/Akavirri battle-mage. His roots going back to Akavir through his mother’s bloodline. (His mother is descended from the Akaviri, through Versidue-Shae, and his Imperial father met her in Hakoshae, while traveling) Herzog earned the nickname "the Genesis" from his father as a child, as he was his mother's first born child, and last, as she tragically died in child-birth.

Herzog was seeking to purchase an artifact from Cinan Tharn, before their capture and was meeting Tyrus while in Rimmen, who introduced him to Cinan. This artifact being the Ayelid artifact; the sword Sinweaver. After their rescue and the exchange of gold to Cinan for the sword he decided to slip away before Ras Kalik could question who he was, and why the Akavir descendant really wanted that sword. Herzog was headed to Nagastani — An Ayleid ruin in eastern Cyrodiil. He had read in scrolls that the Sword would give him magical powers to meet his mothers spirit, if he performed an Ayleid ritual at an old shrine hidden there. Equipped with the artifact sword, he was off to start his own adventure but Ras Kalik, did indeed notice the sword however and instead sent a letter to Jux Blackheart (whom also was interested in Ayleid treasures), to attempt to find Herzog and acquire the sword. (*Azani Blackheart in Elder Scroll's Oblivion is Jux's descendant some 747 years later)

And so the Redguard, Imperial and Akaviri men parted ways ... While Ras Kalik went off to Elsweyr to encounter the latest threat to Tamriel, with Abnur Tharn and Sai Sahan - - DRAGONS!! Little did Ras Kalik know a few people were awaiting him in Senchal besides Sai. A necromancer survived his attack on the Withered Hand, while in Alik'r. The necromancer known as Auriek Siet'ka is also following him to the land of the Khajiits and Cacique the Sage of Ius a Shaman mystic who has become attuned spiritually with Tu'whacca (a Redguard God) and Ius (the Animal God), after being burned severely by the escaped dragons in Elsywer, is awaiting his arrival also. Aurik is a soldier of the Daggerfall Covenant that was introduced to necromancy while in the military, even though this magicka art is not spoken of openly by most of the Military leaders. He came to Alik'r and worked with the Withered Hand before Ras Kalik intervened on their plans. After the defeat of the Withered Hand, he aligned with the Worm Cult, and is constantly adapting and perfecting his necromantic arts.

After his journey to Rimmen, Kalik heads south to Senchal, in the southern regions of Elyswer. This new adventure will also put him on a path to meet a strange Redguard man. The stranger which was infected with an untreated Peyrite disease and also was the exiled from the Order of the New Moon cult, due to his sickness. He originally joined the cult to worship Laatvulon, the green dragon, mistakenly thinking it was the Daedric prince Peyrite. This confused and suffering cultist is known as Tsar al-Bomba and he is on a path to spread the disease. He was originally infected in Orccrest while recruiting members there. Can Ras Kalik and the shaman Cacique cure this poor soul, only time will tell. Little does Tsar al-Bomba know, that his infection is tied to Vampirism, and eventually the desire for blood will take over his mind. Senchal also offers Kalik his latest love interest... Aeliah. Whom he fondly led thru battles with the Dragonguard.

After the trek thru the heat, tropical and desert climate of Northern and Southern Elyswer, Ras Kalik heads north to the cold mountain range of Skyrim. His companion friend Lyris beckons for him with a letter sent by crow...

Movárth Piquine - a former vampire hunter (now infected), within the Fighter's Guild (and a secretive necromancer) was in Skyrim working with the Morthaal Guard. On a patrol mission he was caught in Frewien's ice curse outside of Morthaal with the frozen undead. Movárth's vampiric infection kept him from becoming an undead minion to the curse. He was able to use necromantic ice-magic to encase himself safely until he was freed with Freiwen, when the Vestige Ras Kalik broke the curse.

Uri Ice-Heart - brother of Urfon Ice-Heart. The twin sons of Atli and Oljourn Ice-Heart. The Ice-Heart family are originally from Markarth but now reside on the Jerall Mountain range near Cyrodiil, with their younger sister Araki. The twins had joined the Winterborn Reachmen while living in Markarth. Urfon pushed west to Orsinium with the Winterborn Clan, leaving his family behind. Uri stayed behind with his parents and sister to live in the family cabin for safety, avoiding the Vampire plague infiltrating the Reach. After news reaches him and he hears of Urfon's death... Uri leaves and heads home and is seeking vengeance. Meanwhile, his sister has also moved on to Windhelm to join the Fighter's guild. He will visit his sister, once before going to seek vengeance and she will craft him armor mixed with ice, called Stalhrim armor. Uri fearing death, after his brother's passing, falls victim to the convincing talk of Movárth at a Nordic tavern, and will also becomes a vampire.

    Well, I figured it out.

I just created a "new account" and bought some crowns to avoid the hassle. Who knows when this will be resolved.

Anyway, when starting my first toon with the "new account", I noticed that I received 3 messages and clicked the chat-bubble icon to see what they were. One of the messages said ...... "crown gifting is not enabled for the first 30 days". So, it appears that I found a way to break the game by having the crowns gifted to my level 3 toon directly (the people gifting to me said that they got "account not found" when trying to gift directly to my account instead of the toon).

Are all accounts banned from crown gifting for the first 30 days? Does it only apply if the accounts appear to come from the same address, computer, etc.?

My "new account" is stocked with enough crowns to get what I want. I only did the gifting-thing to avoid feeling like I was "paying to win". I felt that using gold that I earned through my main account, to start a new account, to make more gold is a "fair" way to play the game. A bit more of a challenge than just throwing around $.

Hopefully, those of you wishing to play additional accounts can learn from experience. No gifting for 30 days.

How do you have that much time to do writs and still collect the matts and Skill points required to do such writs!? I can barely do that on one character let alone 18!!!!

I thought that was more for giving than receiving, but I might be wrong.

To recap: I used roughly 7,000,000 gold to purchase crowns from other players (the details are in my original post and subsequent posts). I have NEVER sold gold and I have been playing since launch (with a six-month and a nine-month break from the game). The final resolution is given below:

The Elder Scrolls Online Team response on 08/28/2020 02:37 PM
    Greetings!

After a thorough review of your account, it has been determined that the account did in fact violate our Code of Conduct. We regret to inform you that your appeal for an account ban reversal is denied due to the evidence within our system for engaging in gold selling activity.

Due to the extent and scale of the violation, it has been decided that the ban on this account will remain in place, and that all services related to this account shall remain deactivated permanently. This decision was not made lightly, and it is final.

    Kind Regards,
    The Elder Scrolls Online Team

We don't have all the details from your ticket, @Stanko ... certainly not the details that ZOS had when they did their review.

This is why account suspensions aren't discussed in the forums.

What im left with after reading the OPs thread, no disrespect, Why would you spend money on something as broken as ESO, play for free and dont give them money because they dont deserve it with how badly they run the game (performance wise)

I shared the details as best as I can. I've also posted exactly what ZoS sent to me. I did this for the benefit of others that are thinking of starting a new account and transferring gold from their main account to get some crown gifts. Forum readers can judge for themselves.

Wow that is a sad conclusion to this story. @ZOS_BillE @ZOS_GinaBruno this is bogus and looks poor upon the CS at ZOS. Penalizing someone actually wanting to play this game is a weird way to treat customers!

I mean no disrespect to the OP, and I appreciate the plight of an innocent unjustly caught in the mindless machine of justice, but how do we really know that the OP is innocent?
