A solution to procdamagesets without nerfing the sets or malacath

Remove base crit resist to make no-mala/proc builds more equal to mala/proc builds
This would make Light Armor players even more vulnerable. Currently, HeavyArmor-Proc/Malcath players are like walking gods in PvP while LightArmor players (except Sorcs) are more like the walking dead. In times of high damage, the weakest IMHO need better protection.

Mala builds wont do more damage if crit resist would be removed. You however would be more equal to mala/proc builds in terms of damage

Do Light Armor builds lack in damage? Not so much, I think.
However, LightArmor builds now massively lack in protection.

Isn't it absurd that most Mag users finally have to play in Heavy to survive?
Since the new Stam proc sets came out with an insane amount of damage,
even many if not most MagSorcs finally switched to Heavy Armor in PvP to cope with that.

The already existing 2020 HeavyArmor META first got a BOOST with Malacath,
then it even got a TURBO with the lastest stam proc sets,
finally rendering any Light Armor shields useless in PvP.

ZOS, can you please explain what was your plan with that?
If you want ALL PvP players in HeavyArmor and Proc sets in PvP, you are right on track.
However, some people really would love being able to play in Light Armor again.
Light Armor was nerfed at a time when damage was modest.
Now that damage explodes, Light Armor is useless on every class except Sorcs.
How about "Make Light Armor shields great again"?

How about a new Mythic item like "Shalidor's Band of Protection"
which would be restoring the original 100% shield strength on Light Armor?
This way Shalidor's Band could protect LA users from Malacth's Band HA users.

You don't have to think too much.
Malacath is the problem. Simple as that.

I've recommended something similar all the way back when people were complaining about procs and their fix was to make them not crit anymore.

Although mine wasn't a cooldown based on the cooldown of one of the procs, just a short global cooldown of even a second or two to prevent them from all firing off at once.

Sounds terrible for PVE dps (and tanking) for obvious reasons. Proc sets that synergize well for increased dps or tanking prowess. Something to try out in pvp, but seems it would be a huge crippling change to player builds overall especially to pve.

As someone said earlier, you just need a counter to proc sets.

No, unless you mean things like dodging, blocking etc.

Sets that counter sets (or any counter that isn't an in-combat strategy) mean the encounter is largely decided by whether you wore the right thing to the occasion. PVP is fun when it feels like your decisions are impactful -- you made the right moves to win the fight or you made a mistake that's up to you to fix.

Venomous Smite doesn't work with Malacath. Malacath makes things worse but it's not the root of the problem. The root is
    - there's no equivalent to the GCD with damage proc sets
    - you don't have to economize your resources to use them, and
    - they hit hard enough to replace offensive stats altogether, so you can have HP, tankiness, offense and sustain where max-stat builds have to choose between those

Health-based heals and malacath enable certain imbalances like proc sets, making them worse than they would be on their own. But if there's no imbalance for them to compound they're fine.

This is something which should be added to PvP in battlespirit. Procsets in PvE are fine!
