When Tamriel Trade Center Fails what now?

So, I’m looking for a Minotaur chest style. Last night I see two listed. I go to each trader and nothing’s there. Meaning whoever saw it there purchased it. No more listings. So I spend time running to different towns in-game searching every guild trader. It’s an annoying experience and I can’t help but feel there should be a better way (not auction house as I know this community’s feelings) to find items.

I've been having a similar problem recently. I'm on PC EU so normally listings are automatically added to TTC by the addon and there's dozens of listings for most items. Recently there's been maybe 1 page at most and the majority of those are out of date.

For me it just means I'm not trading outside of my guild. Even with TTC it's pretty boring going through loading screens and running to traders hoping the item you want will still be there, I really cannot be bothered wasting my time doing it when the entire trip is a wild guess as to whether the items will be there at all. But I hope it gets fixed soon because I'm still missing a lot of motifs and I'd like to complete them eventually.

Yeah it’s like running around like a headless chicken. Other games I’ve played without an AH have progression leveling so you knew what towns to go to for what level gear.

There are two options for you, as far as I can tell.
One being you posting in zone chats that you're looking for this specific piece. Be prepared to pay more than avarage if you want it quicker.
The second one is simply about being patient and come back looking for the item at a later date. I like to collect motifs and when I see prices being out of control, or I can't find the item at all, I usually wait and go looking for something else instead.
    Good luck!

Patience, it will appear eventually. When I collected all furnishing plans pre Greymoor, I spent a lot of time checking TTC site for listings, a lot of times it was empty for the more rare ones. But eventually they popped up and was still at the traders.

Or you could grind it, but that's even worse.

I've been seeing fewer listings for things lately too - I'm wondering if it's just that people are involved in not only events, but antiquities to the exclusion of other things like farming motifs? Or maybe people just aren't using traders as much right now, being busy with other things.

I got the minotaur chest during the Anniversary event - this year on my second account NA and both accounts EU, last year on my main account NA - along with a LOT of other fairly rare to extremely scarce style pages.

There's a bit of an art to the shopping, too. I have gotten to the point where I have good gut feelings about whether something will still be there, based on a combination of time of day, day of the week, and trader location.

More people are probably home and on stay-cations during the summer which will also make it more challenging... more folks that can snap up items anytime the second they see them.

Last, don't forget to check your filters. If this happens to me too many times in a row, I almost always find it's because I left a filter set on looking for deep discounts.

Pricing on motifs dropped so much that a lot of people who hoarded masses of them from prior events and are the usual suppliers in the guild store are still holding back until prices recover. When they see some sales at higher prices, some supply will come back out for sale.

Amen, I bought a Minotaur chest from one of my guilds after we lost our trader - for 15k! I used it and started doing the daily to get another (I didn’t realize how much they sell for) and gave up after 4 days.

Downside to an AH is that there will be a few players who will buy up all the cheaper versions and hoard them to drive down the supply.
Price manipulation becomes a thing when shopping becomes too easy.

During events, from when players recieve more than the usual rewards, people usually flock to these areas doing quick daily quests.
During the same time the market also gets flooded with motifs and the prices also drop.
But I'm not sure when the next event will happen that will allow you to get it cheaper.

I have all the pages except for Motif 83 - and it took a lot of travelling to each GT to locate everything. You’d be surprised at the finds in the little one-off locations, like Thieves Guilds.

Yep. I would kill for the ability to search all traders at once. Having to run up to each trader, type it in, wait for the search to hopefully not bug out, and run to the next. Then port to a different zone, long load time, run to traders, and repeat like 30 times.

Yup. There will never be a convincing reason for all the time wasting to me. It can take literal hours just to find one thing, if you ever find it. If I can't find something in Grahtwood or Deshan I just don't bother.

    -Vivec
    -Stormhold

Eh it fails to the point it only lists items that are seen therefore in very rare cases, such as this, it’s only showing items already bought. But, imo the whole guild trader system is a fail but I won’t venture into that.

This is a common misconception. Its not possible to do, when new repeat items appear Every day, and throughout the day. You can't 'hoard' stuff when the people you bought from continue to produce the same items. There will never be a time when there is 'no more' of the items, and then you can list what you bought for higher prices. All said person does is put themselves in the poor house by purchasing other players wares. Somebody awhile back said if we went to an AH they would buy up all the corn flower and sell it for 5000 gold per flower. That person would be very broke in a real hurry. Buying it all up at one time does not stop the supply.

I've played in several games with AH and what you describe does not occur. What does occasionally occur is someone listing single items like mats for a very low price, hoping the next person who lists in quantity is not paying attention and automatically lists for said lower price. Paying attention and checking what things are actually selling for negates this tactic.

    IMHO

I would like to see a bulletin board in the main city of every zone. The board would allow you to search for an item at all the traders in that zone. You wouldn't be able to buy the item there. You would still have to go to the trader to get the item. The board also would not give prices. That way people that want an item and don't care price can just go to most convenient trader to get said item and players that want a bargain will have to visit every trader that has the item listed.
and then the parrot said, "must be the water mines green too."

    nah, all or nothing
    .
for Crowns you could purchase a Crystall Ball that allows you to search all traders in a Zone, for example
an UBER crystal ball might allow you to search all traders in a faction
    .
so for $50 you could do it, seems reasonable, eh?
