You could go to cyrodiil and repair keep walls or spam rapid regen in a zerg and get your assault to 5 in no time, without ruining other people's experience.
    Just sayin'

Repairing costs gold for non-pvp players. Battlegrounds are quick and dirty ap for very little time. At least the OP will be a LOT more useful and less likely to 'ruin other people's experience' in a flag game than most randoms who play all battlegrounds as if they are a deathmatch ( example).

Rooting for you OP (literally, given your implied speed ). >:)

    OP ... forgivable.

    This ^^^ not so much.
Tenesi Faryon of Telvanni - Dunmer Sorceress who deliberately sought sacrifice into Cold Harbor to rescue her beloved.
Hisa Ni Caemaire - Altmer Sorceress, member of the Order Draconis and Adept of the House of Dibella.
Broken Branch Toothmaul - goblin (for my goblin characters, I use either orsimer or bosmer templates) Templar, member of the Order Draconis and persistently unskilled pickpocket
Mol gro Durga - Orsimer Socerer/Battlemage who died the first time when the Nibenay Valley chapterhouse of the Order Draconis was destroyed, then went back to Cold Harbor to rescue his second/partner who was still captive. He overestimated his resistance to the hopelessness of Oblivion, about to give up, and looked up to see the golden glow of atherius surrounding a beautiful young woman who extended her hand to him and said "I can help you". He carried Fianna Kingsley out of Cold Harbor on his shoulder. He carried Alvard Stower under one arm. He also irritated the Prophet who had intended the portal for only Mol and Lyris.
    ***
Order Draconis - well c'mon there has to be some explanation for all those dragon tattoos.
House of Dibella - If you have ever seen or read "Memoirs of a Geisha" that's just the beginning...
Nibenay Valley Chapterhouse - Where now stands only desolate ground and a dolmen there once was a thriving community supporting one of the major chapterhouses of the Order Draconis

Don't take this the wrong way, but have you tried any of it before you decided you didn't like it?

Look, I get it. ESO is my first MMO ever, and I'm here because I like the Elder Scrolls series. I never really liked playing multiplayer games, and especially not playing against other people. My version of a good day is one where I can just run around questing and RPing myself, and not have to run into anyone. PvP is something that I don't need in my life at all.

And yet, there's stuff gated behind PvP: The Warhorn ultimate. The nice dyes from the Alliance ranks. All of the Cyro skyshards and quests. The Battlegrounds outfit styles. (Oh, and the rapids skill that I only ever used in Cyrodiil, but nowhere else)

So during MYM, I went for it. Was I good? No. Not at all. But I stuck to low pop campaigns or tried to show up to forts that my alliance was taking (several times I got the AP from a capture since I managed to ride in range of the fort just before it fell. I took no damage, I did no damage, but I still got the credit.) Sometimes I even ended up in a group to go farm more AP.

Besides, you can even get AP from doing the PvE quests in Cyrodiil. I spent most of my MYM to hammer out all of the Cyrodiil PvE quests. If you go to a low-pop campaign, then it's really easy to do the quests without getting bothered. You may even be able to campaign hop if you take some of the lesser-used ones, so you can find one where your alliance already controls the map.

And it doesn't take long to do. I went from Support/Assault rank 0 to 10 during the event. Yes, that was with the 2x buff, but even cutting that in half leaves me at rank 8. Getting to rank 5 takes 100k AP, which can be done without much trouble over a few days.

Yeah, there are times that it's not fun, like when you're getting ganked at a quest objective and you have to run all the way back. But it's not always like that. I even found that I enjoyed the battlegrounds a bit - not that I'd do them all the time, but it wasn't like going to the dentist (I only played the land grab and capture quests, not deathmatch). I even managed a few kills, even though I'm kitted out as a PvE tank with the associated low DPS. And I'm still really proud of the fact that I managed to get the Best Defense achievement from landing three killing blows while carrying the chaosball - I thought that was physically impossible.

So I get it, it's not fun to do something you don't want to do. But sometimes you can have a bit of fun trying something else. I know I wasn't planning on doing dungeons or even joining a guild, but I did and I'm liking that a new part of the game has opened up to me. And yeah, it's 100% all because I want to unlock certain cosmetic things to go back and solo RP.

I suggest trying it. And if you don't like it, just unlock what you want and then never look at it again. I know I'm not touching PvP until the next MYM since it's still not my favorite way to play, but I'm now finding out that there's a Reachmen-looking costume coming to the IC for merits, so I have another character I'm sending in to get a merit a day so I can have enough by that time. Same strategy though - find a low pop campaign, go at off hours, and do my PvE stuff while I can without being bothered by others.

I've been here since day one, early PC access. You know why I'm still here after 6+ years? Because I've been having fun. That is what I do in games. I have fun. I have been paying ZOS since day one because I have fun in their game.

ZOS is making a change that will decrease my enjoyment of the game by taking away a utility that all of my characters use.

The idea that I make up for this, on each one, by doing something I don't enjoy just to get back to where I was before ZOS did this, is fundamentally flawed. Why would I choose to further punish myself in addition to what ZOS has already decided to mete out?

No. Thank you for the suggestion, but no.

ZOS is making a bad call, and I have no desire to endorse that by changing my own playstyle to match their whims.

So you never got alliance ranks past the first skill in all those years? It sucks when they make changes like this, but it's also the nature of the beast (how many skills have been removed or completely reimagined). How far off from the required ranks are you and with how many characters?

@mairwen85 That is indeed the case. The AP for each one was gotten purely through daily login rewards. Here is the current situation for each of my characters:

    Brennis - L50+ - Assault 4 (+ 46500/60000)
    Arandys Orethis - L50+ - Assault 2 (+ 1800/7300)
    Selyn Darvayn - L50+ - Assault 2 (+ 3300/7300)
    Tirin Gandas - L50+ - Assault 2 (+ 1300/7300)
    Athrad Sarandus - L50+ - Assault 2 (+ 300/7300)
    Edras Andarys - L50+ - Assault 2 (+2300/7300)
    Llerar Darvayn - L50+ - Assault 2 (+1300/7300)
Saryn Uvathri - L18 - [Created during Greymoor, no login AP since creation]

So there it is. 7 characters who will lose rapids due to this change... and one probably isn't going to get it before the change happens.

    Yay.

I'm pretty certain the above was hyperbole in order to make a point that the OP is being selfish. Yes, ZoS is making a controversial and possibly bad change. And yes it negatively effects the OP and all of us. But, that is no excuse. Take the high road and do your best to support your group in BG's or find another way. Will it take longer to get your skill leveled? Sure. Its the right thing to do though.

I feel you OP. I'm still hoping that they fix that change, but... ugh.

I'm not looking forward to this and this is already decreasing my enjoyment of certain things in game.

and to all of you complaining at OP and creating false equivalences. pretty sure Op is not deliberately throwing a game, this is the best they can do with their typical involvement in pvp. and all of your defending this rapids change? its going to get worse. cause for every OP, there are going to be far more contributing MUCH less.

heck, most of my crafting mules have minimal combat skills, and basic armor, enough to do rudimentary overworld stuff, but not much else. I am NOT gearing and grinding out skills on multiple mules, just to get them moving faster again. and if you want to blame someone for that? blame ZOS for coming up with this change in a way that they did.

P.S> could someone explain to me what in a world is this 1% more resources for crafters from lvl 10 undaunted nonsense is?

^^ read the passive “undaunted mettle”.

OP said they run into the enemy team purposely to die to get the game over with more quickly. That’s throwing a game on purpose. My suggestion is to try and not just feed the other team just because it’s a game mode you personally don’t enjoy. or take up my offer for free wall repair kits.

I'd prefer this. As long as you finish a dungeon you get the XP. If you come in last in a BG you likely will have to run ANOTHER BG.

Both are crappy but you only have to do your daily random dungeon once to get everything you need.

    Yay.

Oof. I guess you're going to be busy a while.

This is such a bad change. Like I cant even fathom how many people are going to be upset by this when it goes live, because of course, a good chunk of the playerbase will be blindsided by it on patch day.

If you want to move Vigor to the two spot, knock yourself out. But at least someone grinding vigor is doing so for combat reasons and presumably, doesnt mind combat, even if PVP is not their favorite activity. People that barely touch any sort of actual combat are now going to have to dive into Cyro or BGs just to get a QOL skill.

I believe the reason of course is skill line and mount sales, which is pretty shady if you ask me, but of course, the reason given is to make leveling easier for stam toons. I dont know about the rest of you, but Rapids is WAAAYYYY more important to a smooth leveling experience than vigor is.

    I am Sorry
I only want to level up my Assault to level 5 so My crafters can have Rapid Maneuvers after the update.
    :)

Why not just try to help while you are there?

No need to intentionally throw the game by running around feeding the enemy that is winning. Battlegrounds are pretty manageable pre 50 anyway so you won't need to have some super PvP character to make a dent (assuming your crafters aren't all level 50).

You could go to cyrodiil and repair keep walls or spam rapid regen in a zerg and get your assault to 5 in no time, without ruining other people's experience.
    Just sayin'
This, if you are an magic build or low level just join an zerg and heal.
Grinding just make you go in circles.
Asking ZoS for nerfs is as stupid as asking for close air support from the death star.
