But she's voiced by Kate Beckinsale, and Kate Beckinsale looks good in black leather.

that's basically why everyone likes Ayrenn.

Sun-in-Shadow. She's annoying, she makes stupid decisions and she's kind of stupid. If her quest line didn't have a skill point at the end of it I wouldn't ever do it.

Nicolene. Cocky, arrogant idiot. Even captain "I'm so awesome you must worship me" Caleen eventually comes to her senses and starts talking to you normally in later zones, but Nicolene still acts like complete *** in Alik'r even after owing you in Rivenspire quest. I so much needed an option to punch her in the face and call her on her bias.
The fact I can name only her in this thread after questing through 2 alliances and all DLCs speaks for itself lol... I eventually learned to get some kicks out of almost every annoying NPC because they are usually hilarious in some way, but she's just loathsome.

I dislike a lot of NPCs, but I was not sure who is the champion... and now you told about her. Sun-in-Shadow is just awful, especially in comparison to other overall nice and interesting characters of Morrowind chapter.

The guy is not funny. Not at all funny. I'm glad ZoS made the player dialogue that of a bored stoic, though in my mind's eye she's tapping her feet with impatience. If she had a watch, she'd be checking it constantly.

Cadwell doesn't work as a character because the absurdism is forced and obvious. I actually feel sorry for John Cleese.

OTOH, Vivec is probably the most pompous NPC in the game, utterly convinced of his profundity when his philosophy, such as it is, scarcely gets out of the school yard.

They're both utterly irritating.

Yeah, I disliked that character until that point in the story as well. I'm not a fan of womanizing manwhore types (or similar for female characters), and that's how he came across to me (even if a lot of it was all talk). Still don't really like him even with that taken into consideration.

There's probably no NPC in the game that I dislike more than other players (who aren't technically NPCs), though, if I'm honest. There are days I wish I could delete all those ugly skin-wearing fashion abominations from my field of view at will. No NPC in the game demonstrates anywhere near the lack of fashion sense as I routinely see in other players. Yikes!

Are we the same person? I hate her with a passion because she comes off as TOO perfect. She caused so many of her own problems and then acts confused why it blew up in her face. She screwed over her brother and then is surprised that he betrayed her. Of course he did! He was about to become King because you ditched your responsibilities to go have fun.

Then you show back up and immediately decide the best thing to do is go to war. A war that a large majority of her own people do not want to be involved in because they don't care about anything outside of their homeland. Her only justification is "Well us elves are smarter than those silly humans so we should be in charge."

Yeah, yeah, she preaches peace and harmony among the races...BUT that comes with Altmer being on top because they are smarter and live longer than everyone else. She talks about equality but she still believes her people are better.

Don't get me wrong- I love all the races that are in the Dominion (even the arrogant Altmer,) I just don't like Queen Ayrenn. She is the reason most of my characters are DC.

Sorry for the rant.

PS- I love Lady Laurent and Stibbons. It is nice to have a silly quest every now and then. And frankly, those two were made for each other, mostly because I don't think they could function without the other.

Yeah...

I hate the theme of the 'entire race of drunkards with a funny yet familiar accent' that pops up so often in fantasy... Especially when it so easily looks like a real world ethnic group (as a Chinese-Mulatto Hispanic, I'm usually sensing a different form of this in other genre fiction - but cheap stereotypes look bad no matter the target).

Khajiit can also be a little one-dimensional, but there are more exceptions made for them. Nord just suffer overwhelmingly from being drawn from the joke drawer - or rather when they are done that way, it's so 'in-your-face' that it sticks in the mind uncomfortably.

What bugs me about her is she looks radically different from her cinematic version. Not just art style wise - even different hair, complexion, and expression style.

Unless the elf woman in all the cinematics and in scenes where Razum-Dar is faithfully done is just a 'random elf lady' and not her...

Yep, that's why I am not fan of Naryu as well. I don't like when devs think they know everybody's preferences and start pushing one of the characters on player.

I agree.
It's not that I hate the character, he is just incredibly boring. The first time I bumped into him I was like: ok, this is the Catweazle/DonQuichote/Cohen archetype. Got it.
It's just a poorly written character in my books.

Fun fact, she has a card in Legends. It's special ability is to basically backstab another of your creatures for the ability to draw a free card.

I really feel like Sheogorath has yet to be fully realized by ZOS or Bethesda both. While I do enjoy him in small doses, him and his antics are only portrayed as "yells at stop sign" crazy, but the Shivering Isles isn't just more-real-than-reality Mania, it's also where you find dark, disturbing Dementia.

I would love for a quest where the Madgod suddenly stops with the "yells at stop sign" crazy, and instead completely switches to "your own head floats off and starts quoting Edgar Allen Poe" crazy.

That's not Ayrenn. That elf is a stand-in for your Player Character. Just like the Breton Necromancer in the Elseweyr Cinematics and the Nord in the Greymoor Cinematic. all of them represent the Player Characters.

I don't particularly like Uncle Sheo, I don't find him all that funny or witty, and the sadistic comedy schtick gets tiresome after a while (please don't ban me

). I also don't really like Vanus Galerion, but I think that has to do more with the voice acting than the dialogue and the character. Then of course Vorial Sorkyn, for obvious reasons but also because his 'after I kill you I shall animate your corpse' is so savage and savagely delivered.

I also find some of the NPCs mentioned to be annoying-- not the NPCs you can just avoid, like Stuga, but the important NPCs you must interact with during quests. A lot of them do indeed have incredible superiority complexes and unpalatable degrees of smugness. It's almost like they're deliberate caricatures of the way some MMORPG players behave.
