Again, I think that people miss the larger problem with these summoned pets. They can just be in the way. Not just around crafting areas. Not just in cities. The problem is far wider than this, since they can obscure crafting resource nodes, chests, that bandit that you just killed, doors, and anything else where the thing can get between you and what you are doing. I see this multiple times per day, every day that I play. Flappy wings and bear. :rage: When the wings pass in front of the camera, for that instant, what I want to interact with is blocked. I have to move in a circle or time it properly to interact. The bear is like my cat. Half the time I don't know where he is, but if there is something to loot, he appears out of nowhere to stand right on top of it.

Speaking as a healer, who is usually standing behind the main group, the flappers in particular obscure my vision massively. Bad enough when it's one, horribly worse when there are more. How am I supposed to heal ppl I can't see? :P

RIP Atherton, my beautiful little gentle friend. I will miss you forever. Without you I am a hollow shell.

Easily solved: spawn them only while in combat. There's no need having them around all the time; in fact, my sorc is so annoyed with the flapping beast that she's not using it at all. And yes, people do manage to position them on top of stuff in cities, too - either by accident or just to annoy others.

OP is disingenuous at best, sorc hater at worst. I do agree re: sorc pets being nuisances near craft stations - which is why mine are all auto-dismissed by Lazy Writ addon soon as I start crafting.

But OP ignores even more blocking in terms of line of sight and clicking on banks, craft stations, etc via Warden bear. This doesn't excuse bad mannered sorc players, but it is a factual statement that bears block a craft writ turn in box far more effectively than either scamp or bird.

Yet OP only calls for sorc pets to be criminalized - why not Warden bears too?

Personally, I vote for neither, but by clearly ignoring bears, OP shows his sorc hate and bias quite easily.

Why not just have all pets dismiss after you ahve been in town for X time and not be summonable unless your in combat (duel or committing murder, etc.)

It would make it harder to be murder I suppose assuming you arnt just 1 shotting them with the blade of woe, duels should be fine as you have plenty of time to prep for that.

Bears too! Several times this past week I wasn't able to access one of the crafting stations because somebody's bear ass was blocking it.

I just get snippy within the /say channel and if the owner is paying attention they'll move or get rid of their bear. Seriously, there are addons for this, people should use one of them if they don't anything else.

As a player on PS4 I agree this should be happening right now for Sorc given how Necro are treated. It would force players to unsummon their pets. It doesn't take much to unsummon a pet and it doesn't take much to summon them.

Either make them Battle Only, or make it so that we can toggle them off if we want to, and please do the same to pets while we are at it

I'll agree to this if you agree to also call for banning cosmetic pets that are in any way daedra or non-cuddly puppy in nature. Your logic seems to be that since Necro summons are "evil" behavior and thus criminal, then similar "evil" type summons or actions by Sorcs should be banned and criminalized too.

Ok, so far I see the logic - doesn't matter if agree to it, but I see the chain of logic there. But where you fail is to then selectively choose to stop that same logic and not include literally everything that any players do that is daedra, undead, etc related. This includes cosmetic pets, any skill cast that summons something that isn't rainbows and butterflies, etc.

So by all means, let us criminalize it all, or none. I'm ok with consistently using one same rationale for all, not for double standards.

It's like they just gave up. Except if you cast necromantic spells or accidentally pick up something lying around. Then your boned.

I'm not playing a Necro, but I have to agree. Making Necromancer abilities "illegal" was a completely useless feature in the first place. Useless because it was random, incoherent, unintuitive and adds zero to the credibility or atmosphere of the world whatsoever. Quite the opposite!
NPC: "Please, help a damsel in distress and kill those evil villains."
Player: "Very well, M'Lady, fear not! Justice will be served!"
    *summons a skeleton archer*
NPC: "OMG! WHAT IS THAT! Guards, to the rescue!"

    QFT
This exact thing happens to my Necro if I'm not paying close attention to my surroundings.
That's when I log out, log in with my pet (1 pet or maybe even 2 pets) Sorc and run around ANYWHERE , with zero stress of getting busted, guards trying to murder me, or pay fines....

    Conjuring 👏 is 👏 not 👏illegal.
    Depends.

Play the Auridion questings again... remember that town with the statues? Rememeber the conclusion? Remember what happens to the mage if you let it slip he was the one summoning those deadra?

Like I said, lore supports both sides.

On one side we have legal trouble for deadra-summoners... on the other side we have mages summoning daedra and noone bats an eye. Thus the notion of... "licensed summoning" for NPCs, which then would have everything make sense again... ;)

Of course, it also would make sense for some more complex regulations. Like... summoning illegal in town, -except- in the mages guildhall, because they know what they are doing... but outside town, noone cares. Not like the system is really set up for this sort of distinction I guess... but it would be cool if it were! If there were skills that were not "criminal acts" but... "restricted acts" that count as criminal in "safezone" places like cities or NPC houses, but not if some civilian sees it in other places...

It would be pretty cool indeed, if they had zones that allowed/restricted the use of pets.. That would also make it more lore friendly, and easier to handle for server/players

no, summoning lesser daedra isn't a criminal offense while summoning undead always was, even in morrowind iirc, (with the exception of the ancestor spirit summon, which was technically undead but was considered OK since it was your ancestor and ancestal magic was common.)

summoning/enslaving daedra is not the same thing as desecrating a corpse to make it a slave. both are types of slaves but daedra have no rights.

Should make them criminal acts, don't think walking into a bank with a wild animal should be legal nor should the summoning of Daedric entities.

I agree with this, if a necro can’t summon the spirit mender without gaining a bounty then how is it that sorcs can walk around with daedra familiars during a war with daedra?

There is a difference between Conjuration and Necromancy.
One is summoning the Daedra, the other is raising the dead.
I presume the authorities in Tamriel understand the difference and are willing to accept that citizens are using the Daedra to their advantage(one of which is fighting the Daedric forces).

I suppose if they took away the pet, I could look at Critical Surge. And change my race. And learn a new rotation. And new skills.
