Is the "new" alliance change token included in the PTS? If not will it be part of the v6 patch? @ZOS_GinaBruno

Yep. Looks like it might require the Any Race upgrade according to the tooltip. It essentially works like all the other service tokens. Once you buy it, you log out and click the token on the character you want to change Alliance with.

    ZyCPtYy.png

Then it'll open up the screen similar to the appearance/race change that allows you to just select the Alliance.

I tried it out with a test character. You need Any race, Any Alliance to use it at all. You buy it from crown store, then you log out and apply it to whichever character you want to change faction on. Then you get to the character creation screen where you can only change the alliance. Confirm and you'll be automatically logged in to that character.

I tired it. It was a very simple, painless process. Your Harborage location will change to your new alliance. I did it on one character who had finished the main quest on EP so had Cadwell’s Silver waiting. I switched to AD, Cadwell’s Silver sent me to Bleakrock Isle as any AD Cadwell’s Silver would do.

Oh, I wanted to add - you do not lose your alliance rank.

Is there any way to test how this will work with alliance locked campaign (console so I don’t know).

Does it pull that character out of the campaign and have you pay to switch alliance?

It also says it clears your quests, however I assume it just clears any quests that might conflict with the new alliance/location. I didn't lose any from my log on testing but I had no quests it would have effected.

The only campaign on PTS is the No CP Campaign, @ELawlis ... so impossible to test your theory at the moment.

One other important note: Since there is no reference of the Alliance change tokens in the patch notes, I would not expect these to be available when Greymoor drops in late May. Most likely we're testing these on PTS for a future unknown date.

You're not fooling anyone with this comment, @sandelius ... it's common knowledge that any player can roll a new character (in their Alliance of choice) and level it in a day.

What happens if you've already done those quests? Will they count? I only have to do Cadwell's gold, so switching alliance would mean I have to do my (now) own factions quests then?

@ZOS_BrianWheeler I don't see any restrictions or cooldown.
    As I previously suggested:
You can make it only one time change that costs at least 10,000 crowns and also available through a special quest.
If one will be able to change the alliance all the time it is game breaking in many ways.

You can also reset the alliance rank of the player who is betraying the alliance to AR 0 - Citizen.
For example, the advancement of the char in AD bears no significance for EP or DC, after all he killed thousands of their fellow soldiers...
Grand overlord turned to Citizen, this is the way! :)
Furthermore, a complete reset of all Cyrodiil - Alliance War achievements is in order.

So resetting all progress made by the player while he was playing the other side(including titles).
No easy way, only grind your way through again.

*Note - I hope you will change your mind and not release it...
There is too much room for exploiting it.

Seriously? That's just plain wrong.... My main is AD, but I play EP for PvP. All my other 12 toons are EP. I didn't start playing PvP until my main was high level and had learned many motifs and recipes, plus maxed crafting... basically there was no way I was deleting her. But she is stuck on AD and never gets to PvP because of that.

I imagine a lot of players have had a similar experience and are excited to be able to correct this.

This is essentially why I want this token as well. My first char and PvE main is DC, I only PvP on EP side and have done so for 2+ years. Being able to PvP with my old main again is gonna be nice.

All this "traitor" stuff is just BS anyway. Faction hopping is already a thing since alts is a thing we can have. Making the no CP campaign made faction hopping and unbalanced campaigns a thing again, this won't really change much besides a lot of players happy.

Faction locks suck and this is just a p2w way to get around it. I hate that they did this. At 1 AM EST AD is locked most days while red is at one bars and there isn't anything you can do about it to fix it because of faction locks.

The low pop bonuses aren't aggressive enough to fix the issue either.

This shouldn't be a crown item...

We should just have a weekly quest that allows us to become a mercenary for the opposing factions. A week timer should be more than enough to avoid abuse.

If you're cash strapped and need some crown revenue just put more stuff on it. Tons of people are sitting around waiting for things to cycle back through.

hmmm a lot of people are getting mad about these tokens and i can't understand why. If you are really devoted to only 1 faction, shouldn't you be happy to get all the "fake (insert color)", "traitors" or "alliance hoppers" are swapping their characters alliance off of yours? Even if players flop to another alliance and flip the campaign, they just paid to leave your alliance making them not a true "insert alliance". Shouldn't you be happy? These will probably cost quite a bit as they have been requested for a long time. i doubt people will make the decision to swap lightly.

I should also say, if you join an alliance in Grey Host, like the Covenant, you are tied to that alliance for the duration of that campaign. Know what will happen if you try to switch alliance on your character and join the campaign?

You won't get to join, because you'll be tied to the Covenant, still. Remember that the alliance-lock is account-wide, yeah? It's why you can't join an alliance on a different character if your own is underperforming on your first character.

This change has been a long time coming, and I for one am happy that I will get to play with my friends without having to suffer ludicrous consequences. It's only a game, after all, and not real-life.

I'm not leaking secrets of the CIA, I am not interfering in an election, I am not deserting a real army. I'm playing a game. Next month, I will get to play the game with my friends.

    And that's a good thing. :)
