Cheating in Cyrodiil

The issues with Cryodiil were so bad yesterday when this happened, that I had to log out. The latency, the clipping, getting stuck in animation, freezing while running because of something to do with the blurry draw distance not resolving before I got there, stuck trying to shoot arrows.

The problem very well could be that ZoS refuses to make more resources available for Cryodiil. It could also be that those who have used cheat engine and other methods, forced ZoS to do more of the calculations and host more of the intense computations on their server and they have yet to address the lack of server resources.

If you give people the opportunity to cheat and they think they can get away with it, they will cheat. Even if they don't think they will get away with it they will still cheat and just burn through free accounts. People have been cheating in Cryodiil since day one, and are still doing so to this day, it's a fact, it's been talked about enough that we all know people are cheating. It's people who seem to think they need an unfair advantage to kill other players, the very nature of toxicity in PvP content just encourages more of this type of bad behavior.

And then people seriously wonder why people want nothing to do with PvP.

Players need to stop cheating, they won't but it does need to stop. ZoS needs to address the issues with cheating, and with making more server resources available so that all the multiple issues and problems are resolved to at least make Cryodiil playable. Both these things need to happen in order for PvP to be playable, and enjoyable but lets be honest. It's not going to ever happen.

I saw all this happening yesterday and it was nuts. These cheaters need to be held accountable; they have no place in this game.

not commenting on this case, but there are still programs that do work.
you have to find them, although they are not too hard to find in the usual forums, and you have to pay for them. but they still have some pretty hefty features like going through walls, into the ground, and much more.
don't use them, don't try them on your (main) account. stay clean, stay safe!
Taking a scroll twice from an unflagged keep, while named Cheat Enginee is a bit suspicious.

and now YOU will be banned by zos cuz you named and shamed. that is how it works.

There is no point reporting, i know 20 peeps reported the other day a guy who wished someone would die from covid in zone chat and nothing happen, i really think zos does not care about cheat etc or they would be vocal on it more, the game is broken skills / lag etc not going of and yet not fixed, so there is no point saying anything on here, if we all stopped using forum maybe then they would do something

they dont care, but they will participate in guild bullying quite quickly.

there are programs zos can require to be on your computer that will stop cheating. can't remember the name of the one i know of at this thime.

Some people got banned when they updated the client, made a post about some nonsense that an addon got them banned.

I’m pretty sure people do get caught and banned, they just don’t talk about it.

As for those who cheat, yea they suck and ruin things for everyone.

Yes, as noted, this guy kept grabbing the scroll when the keep was unflagged. His name was a variant of cheat engine. Maybe he is advertising his cheat software, who knows?

3 GOs, a Warlord, and bunches of prefects etc-- all classes...I've wasted a lot of time in PVP

@larao That's true for all cases EXCEPT cheating or player reports. It's like the case is shut down after you get the default template reply.

They need to act on peoples reports and when there is clear data (to stop trolls reporting people) they need to act and publicise it too. Healthy for all

I've responded to the email from a report to attach screenshots and got a generic "Thanks!" type response. Which makes sense - ZOS doesn't share info on disciplinary action except rarely for mass actions on the forums.

Really? When they updated the client I figured it would reveal people who used any form of hack. I’m not sure how the hack works.

That round of bans gave me a whole day of play in PVP without seeing a single cheater because people were either temporarily banned or too afraid to run their cheats. It was great, but it was not to last. Plenty o' cheats around now.
I am currently worried for the future of ESO. Population seems like it is in free fall and the cancellation of the North America in-person gathering feels very much like pulling the plug. Kudos on fixing the in-game economy though. Clearly whatever gold shenanigans were happening the last couple years are fixed.

I fear that cheating is indinguishable from bugs, glitches and bad performance. I know a player, a magwarden at that, who actively uses Nature's Grasp. He was playing regularly, Nature's Grasping a lot as usual but server did lag a lot at that time. Players accused him of cheating on forums posting videos of how he was teleporting 40mts in distance in seconds. Obviously, the problem was bad server performance but the player did get banned.

Even without all these things, ESO PvP's greatest flaw is in the variety of builds possible.
When legitimate builds can look and act like indestructible/invincible cheating, actual cheaters can hide and just say they are running an overperforming build.
Allowing all of ESO's freeform build into PvP is a shortsighted decision on the dev's part and doomed it to fail. They cannot possibly balance PvP when there are so many possibilities. Just look at the forum rage against each other about what's acceptable for under-50 BGs and whether people who deliberately re-roll and max out under-50 characters is "competitive gameplay".
In PvE, devs are fully in control of the monsters and challenges and combat setting so it works great for people to play how they like and have their power fantasy.

It was all pretty bizarre because some people who received bans said they got an email saying it was about addons.
In any case ZOS locked the discussion threads so it looks like they aren't going to talk about it anymore.

True and I get that / the liability
But certain things I think they could post here even generically to out people off cheating.

I.e. xx players this month have had their boosted AP removed.
Or xx players banned for CE etc etc

One of the times when the PC-EU server totally crashed last year, after I managed to log back in I was still standing where I was right before the crash - right outside Chalman Keep, approaching from the mineside.

However, the keep was gone... there was just empty land where it was supposed to be.
I got on my horse and managed to ride about 2/3rds of the way through the keep (I could see its outline on my minimap) before any of its geometry started to load.
So yeah, I totally just rode my horse through several stone walls.

This is how it looked like right after I logged back in:
