tuesday morning is the last day of the anniversary event. running maintenance on tuesday means most people miss out on the last day of boxes and tickets since event ends at 10 am.
This is the obvious reason right? If they made it Tuesday, how many people would have this complaint... I guess there's just no pleasing everyone.
Or you're not essential (like me) but work in IT and can do home office anyway (like me) and thus must work nevertheless.CMDR_Un1k0rn wrote: »Either you are an essential worker (...) Or you're not an essential worker, in which case, do as the government says and stay home to keep your family safe.

Thats 7 am where I am
thats 5 am on the west coast
This is a Problem ???????
I don't get where <the inference that people who want to play won't be able to play> there is any real issue here
IMHO

oh people complaining about the performance in Cyrodiil? If you were talking about Easter Sunday, I'd be right there with you. But Easter Monday isn't nearly as important, in my understanding, nor is it a holiday in that many countries. And I'm from a nominally Catholic country.
easter monday is a public holiday in pretty much all of europe, including australia, new zealand, partially canada...thats nearly 3 times the population in the US...
Well, you can't argue by numbers in this way - 3/4 of the world's population is not even christian and doesn't care at all. in the end ZOS is a US company and they stick to US laws and that's it.
the "is a US company" is such a stupid argument
thats like saying McDonalds Australia should have opening hours according to the US timezones becaues its a US company

Well, if the preparing of those meals also happened in the US, your argument may be valid. But since Australia prepares the meals themselves (at least I hope so), whereas they don't do their own server maintenance...
Last official information said the European server is in Europe. So the technicians will work on a holiday. Which isn't exactly viewed as necessary in the EU.
As it is a patch maintenance it will be done remotely - most likely no one has to work on it in europe to get it done.
And that could be a valid reason why PC-EU fails so many times spectacularly, without someone to control the patching process.
there is nothing to control physically - that is just a software update. Watching the server LEDs blinking doesn't help there. When you download a game you do as well not have your screw driver in your hand just in case - that would be just silly.

I beg to differ.
There are many instances where ZOS have shown they don't care about EU. This isn't one.
Easter Monday isn't a global holiday, it may be one in most of Europe, but even here some countries don't have it. Where would you set the bar to call off a maintenance? 5 countries having a holiday? 10? 15? That's just nonsense. And IMO it's better to have a few hours' downtime in a holiday than to lose an entire day from an event because you wake up to an offline server, go to work and get back when the event's over. That's what happened multiple times to multiple people when EU was down at 8am UTC on a Tuesday that happened to be the last day of an event, as is the case tomorrow.

Either you are an essential worker, in which case, much respect to you utter legends, and you won't be playing until the evening anyway.
Or you're not an essential worker, in which case, do as the government says and stay home to keep your family safe. Read a book, watch a movie, play something else... Hell, nobody is judging you if you just sleep all day.
A few hours of maintenance on a video game is not the end of the world. And at this point surely everyone should see that right?
Seriously. People need to calm down. Somewhere in the world, people will get "disrupted" by it.
