Jumping while stunned or at the time of a slow connecting keeps momentum giving you more mobility and less time locked down, it also helps attacks flow faster as another input to pvp input lag making it essentially a form of slight animation canceling, and it also makes some spells att certain angles that are dependent on players static position harder to connect.

Literally seen the opposite happen to every single hopping player I've dueled. Is there some sort of extra factor determining what happens? Cause my play with them has so far only been more rewarding.

One reason is that it lets you maintain more forward (sideways, backwards etc) momentum while casting if you case in the air. I used to make fun of it/hate it as well, but once I started doing it I couldn't stop. The other reason is rhythm, it helps keep a sort of count while waiting for skills to queue up and for LA weaving.

That's an odd way to respond.

It just makes you slightly harder to hit... especially for a caster melee range.
I jump like a madman if i'm playing magsorc

Bad news, it doesn't make you harder to hit, not even a little, itsy bitsy tiny winy little bit. The hitbox is so huge in this game, that it makes no difference whatsoever. Only result is you pressing more buttons more often.

The reason why people jump is:
    a) can make them harder to hit for players with targeting issues
    b) allows you to cover more distance when using skills, particularly blocking, than when on the ground walking
    c) if your in a group it can let other people know your in trouble
    d) can make it easier to target players that are behind another player

Two valid points: You can block while moving considerably faster than otherwise, and recover some resources while doing so, and you can target people who tries to LOS you behind low objects, such as logs and barrels etc.

Also, I have a slight feeling it's a bit faster if you go downhill, but I wouldn't bet money on it. But as for "bunny hopping" while fighting, it's nothing but tics, or some kind of way to pretend that you are "elite" or whatever. I don't know. I do know a few defending bunny hopping "because it's harder to hit" (which in no way is true), but they never do so themselves, but clearly think of themselves as very good players.

Mostly a nervous reaction on my part from being a jumper in Halo where you'd effectively cause players to miss headshots more often-especially in swat. Does have its uses in ESO PvP too but I do it instinctively rather than on purpose so it ends up not being very effective often for me :D

This is a good one too. Hear some typical FPS guys saying "I'm just doing it because I'm used to doing it from XXXXX, don't even think about it to be honest". Here we have no headshots, and abilities and light/heavy attacks just demand that you aim in their general direction for them to hit.

When on uneven ground, hills etc. if you play ranged vs ranged it can break los of you enemy, makes it harder to hit you. As someone also mentioned in very close combat it can make you harder to hit especially when you jump through your enemy. On the other hand jumping out of the edge of cliff, keep etc. is stupid, it can cause your death more likely ;)

This is quite accurate. I mentioned it earlier that I do it for defensive reasons and I do personally believe it helps (people believe a lot weirder stuff in real life so 🤷‍♂️) but it definitely comes from a learned muscle memory reaction from Halo, Call of Duty and GTA.

It's hilarious when these people think hopping will help them be more defensive, while in reality they get entirely screwed by it. The only time i've ever seen success in hopping was when the person hopped off a cliff in cyro and dunked straight into a river... Yeah I didn't kill them... The slaughterfish did though! :joy: He then sent me a juicy hate tell and I almost broke my chair from laughing like a maniac.

you should probably invest in a higher quality chair

    *jumper jumps incessantly*
*jumper gets shot with magnum shot*
    *jumpers jumping intensifies*
Still don't understand this logic. lol

I say enough with the buffoonery. There's jumping that is actually skillful and strategic (bar swapping jumps, utilizing geometry, the sprint/jump behind target and attack as you pass by)...

...and then there's spamming... that can just go away please. Keeping doing you though, bunny hoppers, it really is funny seeing you flying through the air. :D I play a hybrid, so maybe we both are gluttons for punishment.

In the case with my mates and I, it's just a weird spastic habit like teabagging eachother when we find one another in open world Cyrodiil.

ESO causes one to do strange things I guess...
