They seem to have 0 spacial awareness, an enemy could be next to them and they wouldn't even know, so many times I've seen 10+ ride past and do nothing, NO I'm not dueling I'm trying to stay alive long enough for help

I'd ride past you too. And I'd hope you'd ride past me if I was in your situation.

No I'd jump in and help, always do, if you are in the path of a keep etc but if you are in the middle of nowhere I'll take it as a duel

And that's fine if you do. I'd respect that you feel it's the right thing to do to help an alliance mate, even if I prioritize the spirit of competition. But that's just it: I might not feel the way that you do, but I'd respect the way you play. I would ride by not because I have horse blinders or apathy, but because I see two people competing and since this is, RP jokes aside, a game first and foremost, feel comfortable in the decision to ride by.

If an alliance mate was low CP and low rank getting bullied by an experienced player, I would stop, but again my reason for doing so would be motivated by the spirit of competition, which I feel the bully would be violating.

The "spirit of competition" doesnt make sense in a mulitiplayer mode involving armies. A soldier doesnt come upon a friendly engaged and think "I'mma let them duel". They aid in neutralizing the threat so they can rally to an objective.

Im not a soldier and im not in an army. Im playing a game for entertainment.

It's in the middle of nowhere and not a contested objective, so ,yep, let them duel.

If you played cyrodiil in spirit it was designed
you'd kill enemies on site 99% of the time.
Letting low levels live I can understand as to not discourage them but when that random 2 star 810cp you let live throws a camp down turns the tide of a battle or back caps you
You are sabotaging your own alliance plain and simple

Huh, I’ve never ever experienced that. But I don’t think it’s terribly dishonorable of them to attack me while I’m taking a resource. I mean, I’m the aggressor, so I figure I have it coming.

I leave two people fighting in the middle of nowhere alone, after learning the hard way, but I do roll my eyes at people complaining about their “duels” being ruined when they’re fighting directly in the path of a keep that’s being attacked. Like people who try to intercept a keep attack/defense are a thing.

I’m gonna try to kill ANYBODY that sets FOOT in Cyro on the wrong faction. I don’t care HOW they show up or what they’re doing. I don’t care WHAT. They can be on my friends list. I don’t care.

My build is like a Ferrari on the Autobahn! I’ma turn it loose! You dueling? Good! Rez out! Type what you want to in my chat box, I don’t read that crap.

You a low level! You too little? Get BIG! You 1vXing? 1vX me! You a streamer? FILM THIS! You standing around in a field? Well, you can’t stand around in THIS field! You questing? Start over!

People got all these lil rules in Cyrodiil. Well, rules are for the weak.

You might get me, but if you slip you will fall. I main MagDk and there’s only one way to play. Pure, unadulterated aggression. I don’t even look at name plates. If it’s red, I try to make it dead!

I go to Cyro to wreck people’s days! What ever you planned on doing in Cyro, I ain’t happy unless you doing it rezzing out, or crying in a whisper in the dirt. I don’t even tbag people anymore. Killing them seems to be enough.

after nearly 5 years I've given up trying to figure out what AD thinks and switched to EP. ADs primary foci seem to be never pushing north (so they constantly have to defend), and being toxic with each other.

Hi Maya! Sorry to hear you felt that way about your stay on AD. I've been AD since beta, with one recent exception.. an old friend of mine wanted to run a small group as EP for a bit, so I finally created an alt (you can faint now @Delsskia 😉) Delsskia was always telling me to create an alt.. but, this one I created to run as EP.. for once in all my years playing this game.. and honestly, I felt like it was about time I saw how the other half live.. I felt I owed it to myself to not be so one sided or narrow minded about the factions. Only ever seeing it from one side was limiting my view.

I have friends on all factions and it was actually really pretty amazing having this first time experience..
my heart has always belonged with my original toons in any game and in this case, it has been with Delph on AD (I never create alts, shocking I know).. but, I felt I owed it to myself to at least experience it at least once before I say farewell ...

I thought I would get so much hate.. I expected some major negativity from many players.. on both sides..
but, you know what? I didn't.. except one.. and that was from someone I never thought would say anything to me.. but, it wasn't really hate.. more of a snide comment "supposedly" meant for someone else, but quite blatantly and clearly sent to me so I would see it.. not at all an "oops, mt"... it was more of a "shame" tell than a hate tell... but, regardless, I really don't mind.. I mean, I get why she did it.. sometimes people really feel betrayed..

At any rate, what I did find was a very welcoming faction and I had quite a lot of fun. I had a hard time fighting my AD loves, so I mostly tried to stay up North and just defend/heal/repair/place camps.. and of course, I never stopped being a part of my faction.. but, I am truly grateful to both the EP faction for being so kind to me and my AD family for letting me go for a bit and have this new experience.

I am back on AD as my friend is not leading groups atm.. and my guilds and friends are still on AD.. as is my husband.
but, I hope maybe one day you'll reconsider and come back around, if anything, just to visit so I can run with you again..
or who knows? I still have my alt...

    Aww. Thanks @Delphinia <3

I've had a really amazing experience in EP so far as well. From pretty much the first minute I felt welcomed, and a lot of folks helped answer my questions as I worked to get acclimated. There was one moment when someone first recognized me and whisped the inevitable question "Aren't you AD?" that I was kind of like "Uh oh. Here it comes," but once I answered and told them why I switched they were super nice and even gave me some pointers on how EP organized. It was really great. I had a blast my first week. :)

I totally get what you said about battling the AD folks you do love and admire. That's a bit weird. But I also get to put down all of the tools as well. There's one in particular that just makes my skin crawl and I've killed them twice already. I would be lying if i didn't say it was super gratifying. LOL

I'll definitely visit now and again love! And of course I'll always be in the housing community! I'll come over some time for teas and snacks! <3<3<3

Will I ever go back to AD? I don't really think so. There's just too many yucko feelings. I'm working on rebuilding my main toon (Varda) for EP right now and she's just about ready. And I've already got a healer - which I think might be my main toon. I like healing too and I'm happy to do that for the groups i'll run with, and so far I've felt that I have the support I need to focus on that role and do it well - something I never felt I did in AD. It's so amazing to have your back covered as you try to help your faction mates.

So I guess...Blood for the Pact then! RAWR!

    This isnt duelling, its pvp.

This is exactly how I feel about Cyro. If you want to duel 1v1, leave Cyro and go anywhere in PVE land and you can duel unfettered. Heck, there's even arenas you can do it in. Why look to 1v1 in Cyro?

That said, I do understand the need - and the lack of resources in game - for guilds that might want to have 4v4 or 10v10 tourneys or something like that. I do wish ZOS would allow housing to be flaggable for open pvp, or maybe make the arena areas of the world open pvp.

Okay, so in Dc (off peak) it goes like this -at least among the old timers:

Healer/purger/lowbie/ANYONE being ganked < we're all over it for you -even if 30 of us are chasing that 1 nb around the keep for an hour while everything burns

Known player/dps < hang out and see if you will need a res and remove any stupid people who turn up to interfere on their ad gank rubbish -who plays the map anyway?

Known player who is ...THAT type of player in zone < sit chair then leave dead body (We TOLD you not to repair inner with Drac inside..)

Unknown person chasing down someone small/healer/lowbie -pretend we don't know you

20 dc chasing down one player better than you -pretend we don't know you

Anyone getting messed with by the ep 6 man gank crews... goodbye and goodluck
