Is anyone else actually anticipating Greymoor like I am?

I mean yeah I was excited for Elsweyr cause cat land and kitty people everywhere, but playing TES:V always gave me a beautiful sense of wild adventure, getting lost in the forests and trudging through snow drifts. From what little screenshots were shown already of Solitude and other areas, it looks like ZOS are going to recreate Skyrim's environments faithfully while incorporating their own touches. Combine that with a much darker, "Gothic" theme of the Chapter and I'm legitimately excited to explore again, and this is a very welcome feeling, cause lately I've hit a major slump with the game. My Main has done EVERYTHING within the scope of my solo ability, and my secondary main is right on her coattails, having just some questing in Anequina and Pelitine left. I've cleared every dungeon, run every Trial at least once. All that's been left for me to waste my time is Cyrodiil and that gets very frustrating very quickly.

Im excited to see the villain more then anything. I predict: vampire dragonborn. Or a vampire lord snow elf.

Though it would be neat to make a return to soul cairn, black reach and other places, as well as get a second take on previously unexplored lore.

Im also really excited to see the vampire revamp and mythic gear, and exploring their implications on combat. It would also be nice to see them finish up the class ability audit and fix the classes that are currently not satisfying to play anymore.

And last but not least im really hopeful that we will finally get the cp overhaul/replacement that weve been waiting a year for.

What im not really excited about. . . Artifact
system. Sounds grindy, and like a skill point sink. I have every skill point in game, save like 4 or 5 from pvp ranks. Still not enough. I dont need two whole skill lines that bring little utility that im going to need to invest skill points in in order to experience a significant portion of the games new content.

Its going to be interesting chapter exploring parts of Black Reach we haven't been to in tes 5 while seeing more of the Ravenwatch and also the Vampire overhaul. Which will overhaul the skillline along with adding in vampire lords. That is something to look forward too plus the antiquities system. Will have to see how that works but it sounds like it will be a fun system.
So I think its going to be interesting for sure.

I am excited for experiencing the story BUT my problem (as someone that has been playing for since 2014) is that the story game-play experience is for beginners. I don't mean the zones (we have Dolmens & Difficult World Bosses so that's good) - I mean the main Story Bosses. The Main Threats to Tamriel in the Story and we get a lack-luster encounter.

It works for new players but it doesn't make sense for the Veteran populace that the studio markets to.
I just don't see why there isn't a group mode or difficulty settings for the Final Boss fights in the Chapters/Story DLCs. It would actually give a more consistent game-play experience for players that did the whole Season Story Arc - including the dungeons.

    I'm looking forward to it.

I gravitate toward the cultures that inhabit northern lands with arctic climes in all of the games I play where that's an option, so with regard to TES, the Nords are my people.
Witches are some of my favorite people, too.

(I cut my RPG-teeth on First Edition AD&D back in the 70s, so Story and Lore are just as important as the actual gameplay to me in video games.)

I've [sometimes unexpectedly] found several things in each chapter so far that I like, so given my inclinations, I expect I'll find a good bit in the Skyrim chapter.
Plus, having a couple of vampires in my cadré of characters, I'm interested (in a positive way, based on what they've revealed so far) to see what they've done with the Vampire changes.

Which is why I'm not really looking forward to the campaign as much as I am hoping there will be more entertaining gameplay loops (Harrowstorms and Antiquities). PvE is disgustingly easy and it's quite disengaging felling a boss before they can even finish their monologue. Back when I started a new necro and campaign in Northern Elsweyr, everyone was going on about this powerful necro and how we're not ready to fight him. Meanwhile I'm level 3 and saying "just put me in a room with him and I'll end this conflict in 10 seconds".

This is why I am both excited and already disappointed. Because I doubt we will see any falmer or snow elves or any NPC's (even Draugr) using shouts. I would absolutely love to explore a Snow Elf delve and add some more lore to that race, have to fight those Chaurus again, man those things were vicious. I just don't see it. ZOS sees falmer as "ghost stories" so even a ruin or two to explore might be too much to ask.

You could say I am anticipating it just a little bit after doing the following in preparation:
    • Creating keybinds for all my characters to remove defensive champion points, take off gear, and adjust skills (no I WIN NO MATTER WHAT aoe while healing abilities are allowed) to dramatically increase overland difficulty, creating different build oneclick keybinds for both solo overland and group overland content (thanks to the discovery of Alphagear 2 and its companion addons).
    • Switching my health + main stat + main recovery stat food for main stat + recovery stat food, no more health.
    • Finally downloading and using a reshade that makes ESO more vibrant and textured (using Neat Perfection).
    • Completely overhualing my UI for Skyrimesque immersion, including removing the ability and buff bars entirely and only showing attribute bars when they are in use.
    • Removing all floating quest pins over NPCs and followup quest conditions after finding the Pin Killer addon, while still allowing pins on the compass (so I'm not totally in the dark).
    • Buying and using two new outfit slots for every character, which includes a wintery solo outfit for my gearless solo builds and another wintery outfit for my group builds (swapping them using the previously mentioned oneclick for everything keybind from Alphagear 2).
    • No longer impatiently clicking /discover while using the amazing True Exploration addon while in delves
    • Removing all soul gems from my bags and only using soul gems created from the soul lock passive. This means that if I die while questing in the overland, I may be required to resurrect at a wayshrine instead of where I died, adding 'risk' to dying in an attempt to mimic losing your progress in Skyrim when dying before you've hit save game recently.

So, basically, it's like I am playing a completely new, more dangerous, much more beautiful game. One where wisp mothers pose a VERY serious threat, delves are darker and pathing in them is less obvious. I make mistakes and hit the wrong skills because I can't see them anymore. When there are more than 2 mobs and I am by myself, there IS a threat to my life. I look the part, the world acts the part, and now I think I am ready for Skyrim in ESO.

I'm not sure. I'm probably mostly looking forward to the Antiquities system, and considering how little we know about it that's not good.

I'm actually worried about the zone. We will see comparatively little of Skyrim itself, with 40% of the area reserved for Blackreach which I'm not massively excited about. Think of the area 60% of Elsweyr will give you, and that's gonna be "Skyrim". Solitude, if they stick to a faithful recreation, will also be the smallest capital of any chapter so far.

But we'll see. I think I'm looking forward to Morthal, at least.

You must really hate the protagonist of Skyrim, being the only Dragonborn who is also a Vampire makes them unique even among those who are Dragonborn or Vampire Lords, adding another Vampire who is Dragonborn would not only make the LDB not unique or special but being a Dragonborn in this time period would make them the true Emperor by divine right, there would be ZERO reason for this villain to be a villain when Tamriel would already belong to them.

You might as well take a giant dumb on the LDB in that case, is that what you want? we already know who the Villian is as someone linked an object to him, it is the King of Western Skyrim, he is the Vampire Lord.

I think he would be more like a Rival of the Main Bad Guy Vampire Lord. I think he would be more like the Skingrad Ruler in Tes 4 if they go with the king is a vampire approach. Given the Ravenloft Vibes this chapter brings. It would not surprise me if the King is a vampire but given the big Bad Vampire Lords Role underground in Black Reach. I doubt the King of Solitude's role would be the main bad as he would be ruling above ground that means there has to be a vampire ruling below ground since we know there is a vampire city down there or hinted at it. Also pretty sure being the High King of Western Skyrim doesn't allow him to get out much and for sure keeps him occupied. To do stuff that this main vampire lord bad guy is doing underground would require going back and forth. I doubt he would be sleeping very much and Tes Vampires still have to sleep. Disappearing is sure to get noticed and he would have to juggle between two areas one above and below ground without attracting Suspicion.

Just because someone links something doesn't mean its always true. We don't know what direction the storyline will be. For all we know the King of Solitude could even be a werewolf or could a good ruler type vampire like Janus Hassildor.
He could even be a big ally to us to face off against the underground vampires or Underground Vampire Lord.
    600px-OB-npc-Janus_Hassildor.jpg
Would be neat if they could pull off a Nordic Janus Hassildor.

I am very excited, I have not been this excited since Summerset launched, that was the last one that got my juices flowing.

I am a big fan of Vampires. I have a magblade vampire themed dps character, which I love. I cannot wait to see what they do with Vampire skills. I hope they do not screw it up.

I have had a wee think about what I would like to see, so here are some initial ramblings...

Mist form should remain, but be changed into a gap closer, much like Sorc dash is. There should be two morphs, one defensive which retains the mist form after the dash, conveying similar defensive buffs as it already does for a short time. And one should convert it into an offence gap closer pretty much like Nightblade Lotus fan (the animation would involve a "bite" action on target).

That move adds do in Kvatch Arena... you know the one where they jump way high into the air and drop down with aoe damage etc... I think Vamps should get something like that, which would give a nod to the fact vampires can often fly in lore. (this may work better as an ultimate replacement for the bats - see later)

Some form of "hypnotic gaze" should be added as a root (and silence) skill, with appropriate morphs - one offensive, one buff/support orientated. If they do not implement some kind of skill with a nod to the hypnotic aspect of vampire lore, they are really missing a trick. I have even considered the idea of a morph that literally converts an enemy add, into a "pet" to fight for you for say 15 seconds or until dead... what an interesting and unique skill that would be...

The idea of the bat swarm should be changed to an active skill - a ranged multi target dot, functioning similarly to Soul trap. Each target gaining a small swarm (or even just one) bat which attacks them for the duration as a "dot" like Soul trap. (see above for a replacement ulti idea)

The main heal should remain pretty much as is, but I would have one of the morphs deal more damage, similar to the Nightblade swallow soul skill.

A buff to resistances skill would be welcome, its meant to be a vampire after all and they are very difficult to kill. I thought about a variation on the theme, so perhaps the resistance buff is for all elements other than fire damage... dunno.

All this is just thinking out loud!

The whole chapter is ruined due to the bastardization of Noxiphilic Sanguivoria, and the introduction of the Vampire Lord in the players arsenal. That effectively turns a mythical, legendary creature into a weak everyday minion.

It's a shame really, because I really enjoyed their unique and powerful status in Sanguinare Vampiris, but thats unfortunately about to end with Greymoor.

I would've been excited to explore Skyrim otherwise, but the Dawnguard ripoff is just a major turnoff.

The Dragonborn Vampire Lord didn't seem to have the power Harkon did. Other then adding Vampire Lords and Skyrim Zones they mentioned they are trying to avoid going too Skyrim 2.0 here. This is one of the reasons why its being called Greymoor.
I think they are being inspired by Gothic more then a Dawnguard Rip Off. I think they are going with a mix of Wicker man, Indiana Jones, Ravenloft, Dracula, Underworld and other Inspiration. Vampire Lords they could have done them as npc and enemies and did a full line up of vampire abilties without the Vampire Lord Transformation. But then Vampire lord has been in the files for a while I think they were planning on this for a while.

The Vampire Lord Transformation might be part of more then one bloodline. What is unique about the Volkihar is their ice resistance more ice power and also their unique necromancy focus that other strains don't have. Plus there is a vampire lord in game that don't show off the form we have to deal with in the Gold Coast a Khajiit vampire that the Dunmer called a vampire lord so I do hope they update this Khajiit and give her a unique vampire lord form to take. Plus give us beast race variants of the Vampire Lord Form for beast races.

    https://en.uesp.net/wiki/Online:Zalar-do Gold Coast Vampire Lord.
https://en.uesp.net/wiki/Online:Majorn_the_Ancient should also be updated to be a vampire lord given he is a Volkihar Vampire with a Gargoyle Transformation they can change that to Vampire Lord rather easily.
Given there is another quest that talks about dealing with a vampire lord I think this guy could be one too.
    https://en.uesp.net/wiki/Online:Lenendore
https://en.uesp.net/wiki/Online:King_Styriche_of_Verkarth being the leader of the Greyhost should have the Vampire Lord Transformation.

So I do hope they update some of the older vampires to have the transformation. As it would make it more interesting.

They wasn't part of any other bloodline, and won't be till the release of Greymoor, where Scion is made into a Volkihar Vampire Lord ripoff.

There's also a difference between The Vampire Lord, and Lord as a title.

A vampire can be a lord without having a Vampire Lord Form.

But I digress, I'm not excited, and I'm not happy to see vampires ruined in my favorite franchise. But hey, at least I get to keep my ghastly stage 4 skin that I love so much =)

Svargrim was the King of Western Skyrim in the 2nd era.

BTW a real fan of Vampires would not want the supreme form of a Vampire made common, if it is common it loses it's allure and it loses it's presence, do you really want the mighty Vampire Lord to suffer the same fate as the Lich? the Lich is supposed to be a legendary creature that most people likely do not even know or believe exists and yet in Northern Elsweyr we have the Rimmen Necropolis which contains about 4 or 5 of them, do you want that to happen to the Vampire Lord as well? the rarity of the creature and the fact the only example of a Vampire Lord who was not the Dragonborn had enough power to resist anything short of a God Weapon gave the creature itself good reason for people to believe that it was the highest form of Undead, Harkon seemed more like a Demigod then a mere Vampire but well that reason no longer exists because ZOS decided to make it common, now we will be seeing them dying to common city guards and Werewolves and Goblins and other undead...

Plus the Vampire Lord Transformation might be part of more then one bloodline. Plus give us beast race variants of the Vampire Lord Form.

Well don't even have to use the Vampire Lord form. Since we are going to have three new abilties on top of the existing two. They are only reworking the batswarm ultimate but the bat swarm might be reworked into an ability or like a gap closer so it should be alright. People do seem to be happy about the Vampire Lord more then not and also there are those that are mixed on it. Going by my poll on the subject. https://forums.elderscrollsonline.com/en/discussion/511650/so-are-you-guys-happy-vampire-lords-bloodscions-are-coming-to-eso/p1
Got to understand something though, its very hard to be original most everything is a remix that is a thing I learned several years ago when I was in High School. The remix concept basically is something that is done all the time. Star wars is a famous example of it. They were unique but the scenes were remixes from Older movies.

The way I see it is this on Noxiphilic Sanguivoria its unique but using the same mold Skyrim Vampires and Cyrodiilic Vampires used. They should have made it different in Skyrim making the powerful when not fed a unique concept introduced by the Prince of Bargains for the Cyrodiil Vampyrum Order Vampire Clan. Get a good deal being able to withstand sunlight and able to blend in but your powers are weak can't use them unless your starving. So the Cyrodiil Vampyrum Order Vampires are unique in that they have that ability to blend in but it comes with a catch and going by what the Prince of Bargains is known for its something he would do feed be weaker don't feed be stronger is right up his alleyway.

Then they ripped that off with Skyrim base game vampires making them a carbon copy of Cyrodiil ones only adding a necromancy ability, removing most of the stat bonuses giving immunity to poison and as well as adding a vampiric drain ability sunlight doesn't kill but weakens was another way they made them differant. They had vampires at a Shine to Vile in Skyrim maybe that was the reason why they look so similar to the Cyrodiil ones. They updated them with Dawnguard though didn't do much for base game vampirism keeping the same vampirism stage system but updated their appearance and added in the vampire lord form.

Oh by the way you can tell how they ripped of Cyrodiil vampires when they used Movarth Piquine as a bad guy near Morthal and hes a Volkihar and gives you the Volkihar Disease oh and the big thing about him is. Hes a Cyrodiil Strain Vampire not Volkihar. They messed that up with Movarth Piquine that is why I call him the fake Movarth Piquine. As clearly he is a Fake!
    https://en.uesp.net/wiki/Lore:Movarth_Piquine

I am glad they are moving away from the Cyrodiil Vampyrum Order Model when it comes to Vampiric power as it should be Unique to Strains altered by Clavicus Vile the Daedric Prince of Bargains.

Even though I feel this way about it I understand why they did it. Its easier to do a remix and remake older movies then to come up with New ideas that is why there is very few new movies with new concepts and just do repeats of Batman or Godzilla. All the movies that have been remakes.
    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Remix
You will see a lot of this in every type of media including video games.

Do you reckon that they are keeping Whiterun back for the story DLC towards the end of the year ?

They confirmed in the German live stream Whiterun is not coming this year since are only doing Western Skyrim So that leaves only the Reach.

Just to clarify, Western Skyrim, the political entity at the time, actually includes Whiterun and Falkreath hold, but not the Reach, which is independend of Skyrim. It is ruled by Reachmen under the Despot of Markarth, who allied himself with Mannimarco.

But still, Rich pretty much confirmed Q4 DLC will be the Reach.
Alandrol Sul: He's making another Numidium?!?
Vivec: Worse, buddy. They're buying it.

Would be neat if they could pull off a Nordic Janus Hassildor.

I do think they want to keep the Storyline under wraps. But if it was datamined it was a mistake on Zenimax's Part to include it in the base game data.
But we don't know the full storyline yet so it still is possible that he could still be another vampire that is independent of whats going on.
There is another good reason why I think he won't be the main vampire lord big bad.
    From the website.
Terrible monsters, led by a Vampire Lord, rise from the depths of Blackreach, intent on devouring souls to fuel their fiendish plans. As darkness consumes the land, Skyrim needs heroes to restore the light.
So the threat is coming from underground. That is why I think he won't be the one leading it. As clearly a King that has a plushy good gig on the surface would not want it threatened by a threat from down below why do that?
Its not logical the King of Western Skyrim would throw away such a good gig like that to help the Despot of the Reach which I think will be a player in the storyline come 4th Quarter.

Now we know something about a certain vampire. He was once a King and ruled a kingdom a vast kingdom. We also know he was never defeated up to a certain Player hero that does it. Zenimax could possibly explore into it. They have done the prequel thing when it comes to Vampires before like In Morrowind chapter with the guy that got himself cured and the lady that ends up leading Quarra Vampire Clan in Tes 3. Not saying the King is thee Vampire Lord himself. But it could be a King Kaius Situation.

So its possible that the storyline could be a Prequel and we help a Certain King Kaius Deal with a Rival. That is far more plausible to me. Kaius is a Vampire King in the D&D setting of Eberron that pretends to be his Grandson.

Not in the slightest. Usually xpacs mean nerfs to my current build and a forced grind for the new gear to remain competitive.

I could give 2 craps about lore etc personally.

Also it’s Skyrim..... ugh. I know a lot of you consider it the penultimate game but imo the series started going downhill fast after daggerfall. Probably since arena but I never played that at release only years later.

Last es game I remember enjoying was Morriwind and that had been really dumbed Down a lot compared to its predecessors.

This game I don’t even consider es. It’s just an mmo with decent combat when it’s working.
