Make PvP areas that PvE players have to pass by in order to continue doing PvE

One of the reasons that PvE players might not be interested in doing PvP is that they don't find other players at their level that is easy for them to kill. By making PvP areas that other PvE players are there they can find other players at their level. If you make PvP areas that other PvE players have to pass by in order to continue doing PvE you can achieve this.

And set up ganking grounds for min/maxed pvpers to gank lower under built pvers? Nope!

Apart, of course, from all the CP+ players doing Cadwell's (for example) who might one-shot you just because they are feeling salty.

For most people who don't really enjoy PVP, I believe the ratio of reward to effort is just too low to sustain interest. The Mayhem events illustrate that players WILL go to Cyrodiil if there is sufficient reward. As it is, spending most of your time riding a horse simulator to be killed in seconds will get you nothing in terms of AP or Telvar...which you can use to buy gear and crap nobody wants.

Berating other players for not getting good will not enlighten the PVP experience. Face it...unless you really enjoy PVP, there isn't really much incentive to be there...which in turn, keeps the population scarce.

Why do you have to question this position just because it doesn't fit your own? People here are saying I made this thread because I'm not good at PvP and want to kill PvE players because they are an easy target. false, it will be much harder for me to do PvP because there will be huge groups of PvE players running around trying to kill one or two PvP players that are also grouped. Then why I want this? It's because I prefer doing something in PvP rather than doing nothing because nobody is there to fight. I prefer the challenge of fighting a massive group of players rather than having no challenge. I'm not looking to kill players that don't know how to PvP, I like the challenge of being outnumbered. I also want the PvP aspects of the game to be enhanced and that's why i call for PvE players to join PvP despite the fact PvE players will outnumber me like nothing I have seen before.

I play ESO to unwind, relax and socialize with my guild members and fellow gamers. and I will tell you now that there is noting relaxing about PVP areas, or Cyrodiil. there is also no PVE activities in Cyrodiil that are stress free and relaxing. Over the years i have been ganked while i was fishing, skyshard hunting and delve completing. in cases like IC you get a boss down to low health, then get ganked and enemies steal the kill. Really its just not worth it. i DO try on occasion to get in there and there have been issues. just recently i was attempted to participate in mayhem and get some boxes. and well a group of rival factions decided to camp in the quest turn in locations in the towns. i was even ganked will talking to an npc to work on a quest that i was unfamilar with and was ganked. BG experiences were not much better as the last several attempts to get in resulted in my "teammates" either quitting or being toxic and getting upset because i wasn't good enough or wasn't pulling my weight.

As a long time player avid trader (trading IS my endgame), achievement hunter, and PVE pv player let me tell you that FORCING PVE players to PVP to progress a story or to proceed onto the next area is just not going to go over very well. No the way to do it is totally different and will take longer. First of all you need to work on removing the toxic elements from PVP if you can. tell your faction not to kill questers and fishers. offer to help PVERS to get into pvp and walk them through the process.get em involved. persuasion is ALWAYS a better tool than force.

And yes there ARE toxic in PVE too, but by the nature of PVE its A LOT easier to avoid that toxicity than in PVP because there are fewer ways to force interaction in PVE.

Meanwhile, with skills and skyshards in the crown store you have to realize now that i only need to get 1 character into pvp to level the Alliance skill line fully, and 1 character in to get skyshards. and yes i am totally willing to toss money at ZOS just so that i can avoid what is IMO the most toxic aspect of the game.

I have a proposal. Why doesn't every PvP player ask a PvE player to PvP with them and offer to be their mentor.
Exactly THIS is why I still visit Cyro from time to time. When I ran around a mostly empty 7-days-campaign back then for the very first time, I had no idea what to do there, or how. Then suddenly I saw a bunch of others besiege a castle, so I (and another bloody greenhorn who had no idea what to do) watched them, and when the group left for another castle, we followed them.
Now when we arrived at the next castle, the group's leader asked us why we followed them around without helping, and I replied that I didn't know how ... so they invited us to the group and basically did a boot camp for us newbs. They asked us to invest skill points into Rapid Maneuver, tought us how to buy and place and man and use sieges (the inbuilt tutorial was pretty ... um ... basic if you recall that), told us everything about scrolls and finally had each of us dio a scroll home run.

I still remember that afternoon fondly; without this very patient mentor and their thorough tutorial, I probably would have left Cyro and never returned, not even for the events.
I still don't like to PvP 1 on 1... I neither possess the reflexes, the skills nor the hardware. But thanks to this mentor I really enjoy defending or sieging keeps, and might still veer off my scouting track just to help out during a siege.

So yes, I really love that mentoring idea.
But I really don't love the idea of PvP bottlenecks in overland content. I want to do things at my own pace, and how I want to do them, and quite contrary to those other two MMORPGs I played (SWtOR and WildStar), ESO lets me do just this.

You might not like killing players but you have to do it in order to do pve.

I don't even understand what you mean. No, I don't "have to" do anything I don't like in this game, and that's how I want it.

Ok then why I have to do PvE in order to get gear for PvP sutff. I am literally forced to do pve content in order to compete in pvp. add to that getting undaunted passives.

PvP is a secondary part of ESO not the main focus so the game caters as such

    Lol, good one.

Or it's the primary part of the game for those interested,

"I enjoy PvP, and therefore consider it to be the primary thing" doesn't actually make it the primary thing.

Yes, back in beta they may have advertised the RvRvR thing as a Big Focus (to attract the old players of the previous games that did that... DAoC?), but over time PvP has gotten to be a smaller factor.

(And yeah, put me down as another vote in "I tried PvP in some previous games, and found it to be a cesspool of Jocks/griefers/trash-talking sociopaths/scum & villainy/etc. Yes, I don't improve at PvP - because I have no desire to. 1. You don't want to fight PvP players in large groups, you can do that right now. You specifically want to fight PVE players that are in large groups. Do you understand why people have correctly identified your true intent as being a desire to kill players that are not good at PvP?

    2. If you want to fight large groups of players, you can do that right now. Just hang around the area where people are going for scrolls and fight huge giant mobs of people. You want a real challenge, try that.

    3. PVE players don't roam around in large groups, the only real time you see large groups of PVE players are when they are doing dolmans for training, or maybe a world boss. Catching people on their way to do a dolman for training, to kill them, is just trolling/griefing. Catching them on their way to do a world boss just amounts to more of the same.

    4. PVE players are geared, their points distributed for PVE content, not PvP content. Inherently they would be much weaker opponents, if you have done any real PvPing you would know this. I have to assume you are fully aware of this fact. That means, literally, you want to engage in a fight with players who are at a disadvantage, whom are not properly geared up nor have properly distributed their points to be effective in PvP. You literally want to fight weaker opponents. You are looking for victims, not a fair nor equitable fight.

It's beyond my ability to understand how you cannot find people to fight. I can only assume you cannot find people whom you can fight and win against, and thus are looking for people who are disadvantaged so you have a chance. In the way that you present yourself, I get the impression you are not very good at PvP,. If you were, you would be looking for a real challenge against other PvP players, not victims who are anything but PvP players.

Nope. Every PvE player with a stamina character should be doing PvP to unlock the Assault skills, like Vigor. Game already has under level 50 Battlegrounds. Which I play in to level Assault on my stamina characters for the Vigor unlock. Because you gain Assault levels in Battlegrounds even if you lose every time. And I am not good at PvP and don't really enjoy it, which is why I don't PvP after I unlock the Assault skills. Except to do Scouting quests during the Mayhem event.

What you are proposing would end up being a gank fest. ZOS, please do not do this. It would kill the game for many of your paying customers.

I had to question if this was a necrod post from before one tamriel.

This thread assumes people are doing the quests at the same level?

Everyone does them at different levels, minus the actual noobs starting the game in the starter areas....

Then even if someone does do the quest on lower level on new characters, those new characters are CP enabled.

So you sure you want to force pvp with CP enabled lower levels or lvl 50 characters?

If what the OP suggested was already a feature, I wouldn't have bought the game. It took me more than a year of playing to start doing group content in PVE because I was worried that I'd be a hindrance to the others in any group I joined.

It wasn't until this year that I felt confident enough to try PVP with a group. I had to get over the idea that by killing a fellow player I was preventing them from enjoying the game. It wasn't until I realized that people who like to PVP don't mind dying that I managed to attack other players.

Am I enjoying Cyrodiil? Yes, very much. But that doesn't mean it will be my main activity in the game moving forward. In fact, going back there after the event is over is very low on my priority list. I got this game for the story telling, and questing will remain the number one reason I play.

So I can get on my low level, max CP character and farm PvE plebs for some of the PvP achievements, or just to be a toxic ***? See where the problem is? Since YOU want this, why not just go into the sewers, bg, or Cyrodiil? Are you just wanting easy targets because that is what it sounds like to me...? Which in turn tells me you are average at best in any of the existing PvP opportunities the game has to offer. Do you hate seasoned PvP players farming you so bad that you now wish to do the same to PvE players?

Sure, there are lots of assumptions in my post, but the one fact is that this is not needed, and would just be an avenue to grief other players. This is coming from someone who both PvPs and PvEs. Keep this garbage out of the game, ZoS.

    No.
I don't care to do PVP.
    Why?
    1. I suck at pvp
    2. I don't care to get good at pvp
    3. I don't have fast enough internet to dream of being effective at pvp
    4. I don't care to pay more to get faster internet
    5. I am a casual player and don't have any plans to move to more competitive play.
    6. If you make me play pvp, I will quit.
    7. While it has become more, the only reason I actually picked up ESO is because Elder Scrolls VI has not been released yet.
    8. The game is meant to be played the way I want to play and I choose to enjoy my single player.
    9. I hate PVP enough that I have barely delved into group dungeons
    10. About the only time I will consider actively getting involved in PVP is after I have completed every PVE achievement and even then, that is questionable.

Yes, that means I am an anti social gamer playing an MMO, and no I find no problem with that idea.

No, you didn't call for PvE players to join PvP, you called for PvE players to be forced to do PvP. Many MMOs had dedicated PvP servers, and most of them are quite dead right now - that's why PvP servers are gone from most MMOs, even WoW dropped them with Battle for Azeroth and converted all of them to PvE servers.
Forcing people to do PvP would not significantly increase the number of players involved in PvP activities, it would cause the game to lose players at a high rate.

The old argument that someone will like something it if they just try it has never worked and never will.

    Very much this.

You can level to 50 (pve) very quickly and easily. Without any need to organise or join a zerg. Whenever you want. However you want.

The same doesn't apply to pvp. Getting that to max level is a chore and involves an activity which many players don't and won't enjoy. Technically you could do it entirely pvp free - eg. scout or cyrodiil pve missions - but the xp rate is sadistically low. Probably with the "clever" intent that players would realise "The xp is quicker by pvping - let's do all that!"

Nah. They just won't play it.

Locking these limited skill points in pvp is probably a big part of why ESO failed to achieve anywhere near the popularity of the single player games.

The single player games offer maximum flexibility and choice. In this and many other respects, ESO is the polar opposite.

And the OP wants to make that even worse.

What I got out of the current event - if ever play the game long enough to bother maxing pvp level I will only do that on one character. So yet another factor strongly pushing me not to play / take alts seriously.

Honestly? This game is a fair anomaly. All they needed to do was set up "flag on - fair game, flag off - no game". It actually worked like that in WoW and in RIFT when I played them. Anyone who flagged (or in WoW, played on a pvp server which I did for some months - seemed like a lifetime really *sigh*) was seriously asking for pvp. If you didn't want to go there, you didn't flag....

In RIFT there was a corollary though - if you accidentally or otherwise got into op fac territory, you were flagged for five minutes or so. Anyone from that faction who ran across you could kill you if you weren't able to fight back for whatever reason. I got flagged a couple times when very new to that game, but really it wasn't a big deal for the most part.

To me, it's really odd that there's this whole HUGE area with almost no one in it. Just set up the flagging system, and get over the silliness of the "massive battles of war" - which obviously can't really happen anyway since the servers have such issues in pvp.

Now admittedly, I would NEVER flag up for pvp. It's not fun for me - been there done that not EVER going there again. But I rather think that you might find others would really try it out - if it wasn't ganking and zergs and all that not sporting garbage.

You should be thanking the people who ask, not laughing at them, they at least are giving you an opportunity to show you are not the person you have presented yourself as being.

I would be interested in reading your answer to this question.

PVE players are not equipped with the gear, with the skills, with point distribution or the experience to effectively engage in PvP. This means you literally are looking to fight weaker players so that you have a massive advantage. Do you understand this?

If I were to judge the type of player you are, based solely on what you have said here, it would not be kind. Is this really the person you wish to present yourself as being?
