Something I'm curious about in this discussion is the reasoning "If it doesn't bring harm to others, then why not. Let people have fun.", that pops up here and there. But what if it does? Bring harm that is.

I know and have talked to people who actually feels eye pain from the brightness of some characters. Goodness, even I can feel a slight prickle in my eyes when Little Miss Neon pass by my screen in the brightest, most saturated skin and dyes they could find, and I even have my screen set to be somewhat eye friendly when it comes to brightness.

I try to keep it at least a little "realistic"

As someone who wears glasses and has issues like this - it's not on other players to adjust their play because we have issues. The vast majority of people don't have this problem.

What I would suggest to ZOS instead of limiting other people is to implement some accessibility features and allow people to change the colors without needing a third party application.

Until then though - I recommend you try out reshade. It's not just for making games look great - it can also help with color balance.

currently Almost all costumes and almost all skins look like dog turds scattered about on the sidewalk. The exception is maw skin....

That sunspire skin is horrendous, i saw that skin for the first time on my character and i thought to myself i cant believe i spent 67 minutes in sunspire for this crap. The title is worse.

Most costumes dye terribly, its as if dyed costumes were 30 year old sun bleached rags and burlap sacks!

The maw skin is fugly. But yes, sunspire is bad as well.

    Greetings,

We've had to remove a few non-constructive and baiting comments. Please remember that while it’s alright to disagree or even debate with each other, provoking conflict, baiting, inciting, mocking, etc. is never acceptable on our forums.

If this is what our character look like now imagine what they'll all look like in another 5 years.

NoobPwner69 steps out of his Mercedes Benz mount, lightsaber in hand, as the radiant pikachu costume blinds everyone in a 60 foot radius.

I mention those prior instances to highlight that it doesn't matter how "lore friendly" something is made, if there is an option to customize people will bend the system to its breaking point in order to make the most outrageous toon that they can.

I think I agree with this. I feel pretty much the same as OP, even though I want everyone to exercise character design freedom, I wish everyone went for the realistic-in-terms-of-the-context-of-the-universe-of-the-fantasy-world approach.
I would argue that pretty much none of the current cosmetics are (in the contexts they were ''made'' for) lore unfriendly/inappropriate, but when they are used in certain ways and appear with certain high frequencies, friendliness problems happen. But anyway I would still much rather have gaudiness made up of TES-appropriate stuff rather than things like jeans, sneakers, baseball caps, etc
