Was in the Sewers last night. For a second I thought I was playing World of Warcraft. It's gotten to the point where I have to usually flat out ignore what other players look like, squint a little so they turn into humanoid blobs, then play. It's not so much the costumes and hats that do it though. It's the skins. I honestly miss when things were bland.

Yeah some people like to make their characters as obnoxious looking as possible. I’m fine with it for the most part, it’s their choice and ZOS is enabling it; but if it’s combined with jumping around everywhere or other erratic movement, I basically don’t have any interest interacting with the person at that point; I just take it as a sign of immaturity

I don't like most of the skins. When I see someone with a skin walking around naked or wearing the bathing towel, I mud Ball them.

People cried for free skins without actually doing harder content so no wonder everyone can be flashy now, next cry will be for (more/partial)nudity, staff / spell fx on hands etc. so more wow incoming.

lol, most of the good players I've seen or ran with never equip theirs, but they're an award for harder content and people always want to flex.

It may be anecdotal, but when I PVP I'll usually throw a basic costume on (elven hero, covenant scout etc) and switch to a less flashy mount, and I don't experience nearly as much lag or DC's as other forum users...

Like I said, anecdotal, but in my mind the more flashy your toon, the more work the client and server has to do to render it.

Agree on the skin in front.
Don't like most of the skins, some like the Maomer skin looks good, yes I'm a bit biased because I mostly play Khajiit who has lots of fur options while most skins looks bad.

The guy on the right looks pretty realistic in his outfit, yes that sort of wings was used but only on cavalry,
The Khajiit to the right is also fine, he is an mage in an tunic.

I get some people want to show off the silver and gold skins if they got them through dedication and effort. However I also understand obnoxious skins like that ice fire one looks like WoW and this should be Eso but a lot of people make ridiculous characters just to troll. Not much you can do besides playing solo and trying to be as RPG as possible on your own and imagine the others are your own skooma induced hallucinations ;)

I think all the customization is great.
If you don't like it, don't use it.
But don't complain about other people's fun if it's not truly harming or hindering you. That's cringy.

Personally, I'd love motifs that gave us t-shirts and hoodies and jeans we could we could wear and dye. :D:D:D

Remember people who would make sub level 50 players the crown to beat Mazzatun for the skin? (the dungeon scaled to the crown's level back then)
It was nice to only see one or two people a day with special skins way back when. At this point, Pandora's box was emptied long ago (and replaced with a crown crate).

I think it's a bit immature to assume something about the character of a person based off something so little, tbh. People of all types of different tastes move around from time to time like that.

I'd say compared to some stuff you can have in Skyrim and previous games ESO is pretty tame.

Agreed. Not everybody did it of course but plenty of people modded the heck out of Skyrim so it was worse than this.

It is? Did we play the same game? I don't recall ever being able to plaster my character in a skin that makes them look like some neon cyperpunk cityscape or get a horse that shot flame out of its nose.

as long as the Scroll's Tapestry's weave allow players to play fantasy characters.
dont blame the players, we still havent found the Weaver of the Elderscroll, even those deadric lords fear the creator.

I have a hard time believing that in a competitive magical environment, people wouldn't flex at least a little bit.

That's why I'm not really looking forward to Pixar's Onward. A fantasy world that becomes mundane and routinized isn't a fantasy to me. That's a nightmare.

    ^^

i agree some of them look really silly, especially ones like the ice fire skin... but at the end of the day i prefer that over characters that all basically look the same bc of lack of customization.

i don't really like the direction the new skins and clown crate stuff are going in, but i do enjoy more looks to choose from.
