I can remember back in the first days of cyrodiil pvp people would farm achievements for what would be largely considered the most offensive shades of every color they could get their hands on and dye their armor that color. Then when the wedding dress got added to crown store everyone ran around wearing that.

I mention those prior instances to highlight that it doesn't matter how "lore friendly" something is made, if there is an option to customize people will bend the system to its breaking point in order to make the most outrageous toon that they can. Largely to get posts like this made or comments in chat. The only players I've really seen dress like nutjobs are PvP players (no judgement, I wear my cook outfit when in Bgs, it's just silly fun).

I can easily ignore other people's outfits, but for every character I come across that makes my eyes bleed, there are easily ten more where I stop and go "wow that person has made something really cool". It is for myself and those ten others that I will say every time that there is no such thing in too much customization. I'd like to see pet skins, customizable spell colors, etc. The more the merrier because it gives us the tools to make our characters anything we want to make them. I appreciate good spider gwen cosplay just as much a lore friendly setup, it all comes down to whether or not it was well thought out and executed.

All of that said, I also support the option to add a toggle in the menu to give players the choice to render all other characters as a basic, lore friendly model. Maybe a default soldier model based on what faction they're playing on?

Just because I enjoy the insanity people come up with doesn't mean everyone will so a toggle covers all bases without limiting others.

Agree on the skin in front.
Don't like most of the skins, some like the Maomer skin looks good, yes I'm a bit biased because I mostly play Khajiit who has lots of fur options while most skins looks bad.

The guy on the right looks pretty realistic in his outfit, yes that sort of wings was used but only on cavalry,
The Khajiit to the right is also fine, he is an mage in an tunic.

The Khajiit on the right is my character, I intentionally dont use skins and make outfits that would fit in naturally with the world and the society the character would come from.

You're fooling yourself if you think this is medieval-centered game. It's fantasy. Period. It can be whatever we or the devs want it to be.

I would tend to agree. We kinda moved away from a semblance of believable fantasy, to characters made of fire and ice. I feel like there is a limit and we have gone too far.

But each to their own, its only cosmetics I guess, it just affects immersion a bit for me.

currently Almost all costumes and almost all skins look like dog turds scattered about on the sidewalk. The exception is maw skin....

That sunspire skin is horrendous, i saw that skin for the first time on my character and i thought to myself i cant believe i spent 67 minutes in sunspire for this crap. The title is worse.

Most costumes dye terribly, its as if dyed costumes were 30 year old sun bleached rags and burlap sacks!

Agreed. Not everybody did it of course but plenty of people modded the heck out of Skyrim so it was worse than this.

Yeah some people like to make their characters as obnoxious looking as possible. I’m fine with it for the most part, it’s their choice and ZOS is enabling it; but if it’s combined with jumping around everywhere or other erratic movement, I basically don’t have any interest interacting with the person at that point; I just take it as a sign of immaturity

you know whats really a sign of immaturity? Reacting this way to people enjoying themselves in a way they want that brings harm to none. THAT, is immature. Frankly, I wouldn't want to interact with someone who is actively bothered by people who are having fun in a way that has nothing to do with them and doesn't affect them.

Sorry but If the person is doing what they’re doing to get a reaction or annoy people, then what I said stands true. I place it in the same category as spamming audible emotes or mementos.

I agree Tbh but that doesn't mean we can't have skins either. Instead I think what ZOS can do is release skins that aren't So neon light glowy and that kinda fit in with the lore like the dreadhorn or soul shriven skin or at most something with only a little bit of glow like the mind shriven skin.

Who is making the distinction between the two here if you've chosen not to interact with them either way? If you're simply prejudiced against people that have poor taste, that's fine, but let's at least be honest. Are we really pretending that folks wear a skin or an outfit you don't like simply to annoy you or other people? Get real.

Create your character how you want. If you don't like the skin, don't buy them. If you get them in a crown crate, don't use them. Also, I honestly thought most skins were for people who like crazy looking characters. I have the soul shriven skin that I use once and a while and it looks hot on my Redguard. But the one fire/ice skin is ugly, I can agree to that lol.

You make assumptions about their intentions. All of those people. So you don't to get act like your opinion on the matter is at all nuanced.

You make assumptions about people's character based on the way they make their characters look while they are hopping around. It is wildly inappropriate, judgemental and immature. You shouldn't do it. Some of them are immature and some aren't.

Nah, I disagree. I actually think we need more options, not less.

As for immersion - this is an mmo. Realistically no one should expect to be immersed because everyone has different things that trigger that on or off for them. It's just not really possible to serve everyone's tastes at all times.
