Opened chests and resources in locations

Hi! Could you rework the mechanics of collecting resources and chests in the open world?
For example, so that after opening the chest or resource despawn after 10-15 seconds, even if there is something left.
A lot of players take one thing from the chest or resource, and leave trash there. The chest and resource do not respawn for a long time, this greatly interferes with other players - you go to the chest or flower, and there ... NOTHING :(

    I play on PC EU and while this does happen, and is annoying, it is also very rare. Is it different for other people?

    One of the things that annoys me is lowbie players touching resource nodes but not actually picking up anything from them, so I see them, pick them up because they still look like CP150 materials and ending up with low level materials instead.

    PC EU too. Today in the aNOTHER location there are about thirty open chests one after another. But I needed to find a weapon from the location set ... I wanted to sit down and cry after that)

    The respawn timer starts the moment the node is opened regardless if anything was taken from it. So even if they were to despawn, you would have ended up with just no chest at all. Not even talking about all the problems a despawn timer brings to people who might have their inventory full and need to quickly delete something before they can pick up that item they were after for so long before it disappears.

    An easier rule of thumb is to not follow behind someone in a loop and go farm in a different place.

    I figure that lowbs don't know how resource/chests work and don't realize that they remain half empty if they leave them that way. It's the half-looted chests that contain CP 160 gear that make me angry.

    Not everyone has ESO+ and can horde. Sometimes, a player just doesn't have enough inventory to pick up all the materials so they only take what is most valuable and/or necessary.

    I dont have eso+ but ALWAYS take all my loot. Because my inventory - is just my problem, not the other players. This is disrespect to others.

    Maybe the bigger issue is why there is “trash” in the chest to begin with. It would be nice if ZOS looked at the contents of both chests and that stolen loot thingy. Both those things are getting kinda’ stale. It would be cool to add maybe transmute crystals, undaunted keys, tempering items based on level of chest, etc. Just a thought..

    Not really. A spriggan resto staff is still trash. Set piece or not. In order to make treasure maps and general chest hunting more appealing, there has to be better stuff inside.

    I get trash armor/weapons all the time. Plus "corn flower" nodes that are just worms/alchemical resin.

    Do nodes/chests repawn? Yes. What is he chance someone comes along before 15 mins is up and gets a load of trash? 100%.

    Fun fact! Nodes/chests respawn FASTER (2-5 mins for nodes, and as quickly as 5 mins for chests) if fully emptied. This is why you *always* pick-pick-kill for theiving. Leaving an empty NPC bc you're RP-ing someone who never kills is just rude. Then someone else has to kill them so they respawn with full pockets.

    And no, you are NOT doing anyone a "favor" by leaving trash for them. If it's trash to you, it's trash to everyone else.

    I don't see how it's disrespectful. If that one item in the chest wasn't there, then nothing would be in that spot until the node/chest timer is up and a new one will spawn. So instead of getting nothing you actually got something....yet you feel disrespected. I think you feel that way because you assume the system works differently than it really does.

    Yep. But I see a chest, rush to him, and he is "empty". I spent my time because the previous player is lazy or ignorant.

    As others have pointed out, whether someone took everything or not, the respawn timer starts when the chest is touched. And you will know immediately if someone was there before you since the prompt will say "Use" instead of "Unlock".

    One man's trash is another man's treasure. Just because all you want is a MS Inferno Staff doesn't mean that the items that are in the chests are useless to other players.

    One man's trash is another man's treasure. Just because all you want is a MS Inferno Staff doesn't mean that the items that are in the chests are useless to other players.

    Did you know what? You can DETROY items from inventory! When the game launched without Craft Bag we couldn't. Did you also know there are TONS of wandering merchants that you can sell trash to, often for gold? YES! Also, you can easily travel back to town, and empty your bags there.

    Even w/o ESO+ you can buy (with gold!) a personal Banker and Merchant.

    Not having ESO+ is just a lazy excuse for being rude.

    See my sig. I was farming when we couldn't destroy from inventory, and I still picked up all trash. Yes, it meant going back to town every hour. Meh, wasn't a big deal.

    Are we sure this isn't a bug? I've never experienced this not even one time on PS4 NA. Even during the Wrothgar event last year where all day long in chat people complained about it I never saw it once and was harvesting and opening chests like crazy.

    What you're implying is that how you play is the correct way to play. Get off your white horse, there is no ethical behavior when farming pixels on a video game.

    I hope you realize that your "fun fact" is actually the exact opposite of a fact. It is completely 100% false. The devs have confirmed multiple times that the respawn timer starts as soon as a chest or node is opened and whether it is emptied or left with anything in it has absolutely zero impact on how long it takes to respawn. You can very easily test this yourself: I have, and I know others have as well.

    The things that factor into how long it takes for a chest or node to respawn once it has been opened are the population of the zone and the number of currently active (ie. have not yet been opened) chests/nodes of that type.

    Go to a zone where the population should be fairly consistent for a while (ie. do not pick a zone with an event going on in it or something else that could cause significant fluctuations in the population), find an out of the way chest, empty it, time how long it takes to respawn, and then partially empty it and do the same. Do this a few times and you'll find that the time it takes to respawn is consistent, regardless of whether the chest was emptied or had things left in it.

    Then stop spreading misinformation about respawn times.
