I also want to know more about the dwarves and why they left Tamriel, and will they ever return, like is there some prophecy about that in the elder scrolls?

I prefer it to remain a mystery beyond what we learned in TES 3 Morrowind. That's the best game to learn about why they disappeared.

I got a whole lot more than I bargained for with similar questions. Learned some super fascinating lore stuff. And came out the other side empty handed.

I believe “Dwarves” and Dwemer are largely the same thing. Time frames will get confused.

Uhm... don’t remember in detail, but good theory is they vanished when Numidium was destroyed. Numidium was some Dwarven construct thing they somewhat brought to life and committed their souls to. Idk

Don’t start a riot. I’ll follow thread though.

Well, the general consensus is that the 'why' is probably 'it was an accident'... but I guess we don't know for sure. If you legitimately know nothing about the Dwemer, I'd recommend reading up on the lore or playing Morrowind for sure. We don't even know what kind of gone they are.

I'm not sure if just bringing them back is a good idea, but I do think the series has given us enough to content to justify throwing us a bone. Give us a bit more inside -- don't lift all of the mystery, but some... give us answers that end up in new questions. We've waited long enough.

The correct term would be "Dwemer" or "Deep Elves", and they were more like normal-sized, if perhaps a bit stocky.

"Dwarves" is what the giants called them, back in days long gone by... but... they kinda call everyone that I suppose because... giants? Its more of an ancient racial slur then a proper race description (much like if you would call redguards... things the forums would unboubtedly censor)

There might be "dwarves" in the elder scrolls world... but not as race, but instead in the same was as Tyrion Lannister is a dwarf. (and the only reason there are not is because the powers that be have not yet coded that avatar mesh)

    Not quite.

The Dwemer made a big enchantment using the Heart of Lorkhan to "gain immortality" at the height of their war with th Chimer, and... poof! All vanished. And noone knows what really happened, noone will by the time of TES-V:Skyrim, and its one of the grand mysteries with many theories, but no solid explaination (and that is what makes it to intriguing!) That they bound their souls to the numidium, or all their constructs, is one theory. That they ascended to a higher plane of existance, another. That they messed up and just oblitereted themselves, another still.

The Numidium, also known as the brass tower, is a dwemer-built "artificial god", a gigantic golem that was supposed to be powered by the Heart or Lorkhan, and is currently in the possession of the tribunal who will give it to Talos in return for special consideration and privileges in the new empire in about three centuries or so, who will then power it with a special artifact and use it to conquer the second dominion.

And the Heart of Lorkhan is... a part of a dead god hidden in the center of red mountain, which holds divine power and is the source of the tribunals borrowed godhood at this time. And will be until the events of TES-III:Morrowind in what, seven centuries after the time of ESO or so?

I wouldn't be surprised if we get involved with a bit more Dwemer lore in the event there is a Skyrim expansion. (Which I truly think is coming next year)

I'm quite confident that we will return to Blackreach at some point, and quite possibly the Forgotten Vale, where I wouldn't be at all surprised if we meet a certain Snow Elf once again...

I think I finally solved the mystery. Turns out one of the Dwemer's new interns was a big, purple guy that went by the name Thanos.

Hmm, think there are enough elves. Snooty addict elves. Snooty sooty racist addict elves. Hippy dippy cannibal snooty short addict elves. Angry inbred snooty rock eating addict elves.

Dont need Snooty Dirty and Dingy snooty truffle elves, nor angry malnourished reclusive icebergs sucking elves as well.

thanks for your knowledge and some lore to this I only knew about the dwarves in skyrim, (

I played morrrowind a bit; but at the time it was out, I didn't have a good enough computer to run it, I was only able to run it on my highest setting (I forget what I lacked at the time, I have morrowind and oblivion on GoG not installed atm, but I think i'll try it again.

It's all good info, thanks everyone B)

i have absolutely no doubt that at some point we will get a whole year of dlc/chapter content centered around the dwemer/dwarves...
