Say One Nice Thing

I can say many nice things or I wouldn't be here. So I'll raise the bar and pick a few nice things about the upcoming patch:
    • Reeling in ranged stuns needed to happen for health give and take gameplay. Spamming stuns from max range, particularly those with knockbacks that make other players lose control of their character, had no counterplay and was too rewarding for too little effort. Given the choices of taking them away, increasing the costs, or reducing the range, reducing the range gives players the utility but requires more careful use.
    • The new sets are solid, competitive sets that are good for magicka or stamina or hybrids and aren't locked behind a BoP grind wall.
    • The 3 piece set reworks into solid performers open many more theorycrafting options
    • Simplifying resists into a unified stat is more clear and understandable to new players and removes most of the odd spell/pys resist disparities.

ZOS devs fundamentally willing to do things that are unpopular now that are nonetheless necessary. People don't remember how bad their favorite patch was. Too often it is simply the time their favorite class was meta combined with pure nostalgia.

Nostalgia maybe, but my favorite patch my main class basically sucked overall. But it had a playstyle I enjoyed but has long since destroyed.

I love the NPC conversations you hear in passing:

NPC1"... they are building houses out of mudcrabs."

NPC2 "And how would that work, exactly? They'd skitter away!"

Oh, and I love the feel and detail of the graphics. In the end that is what has kept me playing despite the current combat team.

I love that I can create female characters the way I want to — actual options for figure, choices for make-up including none at all, and no *** heels! Seriously, you have no idea how much that has grated me in other games. And one of my female characters in ESO is more outwardly sexy and made-up and I love her because I chose to create her that way! :)

So - I had never played a Vampire in any ESO title (3, 4, 5)... to the point where I would fight one enemy at a time in some of those ice caves in Skyrim - and if I could snipe & manage to down 'em before CQC (which was excrutiatingly-difficult for my level) - I'd Save Game, and inch towards the next enemy that could possibly infect. Get hit... contract the infection? Reload. And again. Oddly, in all of those supposed, "hyper-completionist playthroughs" of M, O, & S - I had never even rocked that undead immersion tangent. Durr!

FFW 2019 Orsinium Event - I needed a new character to hold all of the 2x obsessive mat farm (lol ugh!), and was like - bing! Vamp! Buuuuuut - being that it would be my first ESO vampire character, I HAD to make it quote-unquote, legit - which ended-up taking an embarassingly-long time - tracking moon cycles; never missing an in-game night-cycle; making maps; referencing every online anecdote about possible sitings (which - TBH - is shockingly inaccurate STILL after all of these years!), etc. At several times, I realized the endeavour was ludicrous - and had me wondering if Bloodfiends even existed in the wild. Then I found 'em; rocked the quest in my lvl20's; and burst a Tamriel sanguine cherry.

I love ESO 'cause it makes me do this stupid ish like this... and love it.

Blending the disciplines of the stealthy agent and subtle wizard, I move unseen and undetected, foil locks and traps, and teleport to safety when threatened, or strike like a viper from ambush. The College of Illusion hides me and fuddles or pacifies my opponents. The College of Mysticism detects my object, reflects and dispels enemy spells, and makes good my escape. The key to a nightblade's success is avoidance, by spell or by stealth; with these skills, all things are possible."

Hot pineapple is an affront against god and nature, and simply ordering it on either a burger or pizza should be a jailable offense.

I still remember the first time I came across a Dolmen.

I was looking at it from a distance, and just as I was about to run away...to my suprise Worm Cultists appeared.

    Then something amazing happened.

A rent was made in the sky, a circle appeared, and chains came out, connecting the stone circle to the sky!

I killed the Cultists thinking that was the end, but no. Dramora fell from the rent in the sky, in long smoking pillars of fury.
And I couldn't kill them alone...

Still to this day one of the coolest things I've ever experienced in gaming...💜

The sound. The telltale SOUND! Still.

The feeling of coming across a dolmen for the first time... perhaps the only player in the area (‘cause zone chat is dead lol)... and knowing the plane-meld is nigh.

The manner in which the chains slack for a moment; and then lock-in is harrowingly well-done.

    Intimidating & brilliant.

Not passive aggressive, or tongue in cheek, say 1 nice thing about ESO. I know it’s hard, I struggle with positivity toward Zos as well.

    I’ll start:

Its nice how beautiful the elves can be, past games in the franchise made elves very alien.

Don't really get this. They deserve the negative feedback they are getting at the moment, why try to cover it up with this?

I know a bunch of people are resentful of this, but I’m glad they encourage you to try different game modes in order to unlock useful stuff. First time I was in Cyro was for fishing. Hated it, got my achievement, and left. A year+ after that, I started to get more serious and realized I would have to PVP to get a rather essential skill for my main (vigor). So I went, and absolutely loved the epic keep defensive and offense battles. I now go there frequently and have a blast, and I never would have tried PVPing in earnest were it not for a basic skill being locked behind it.

I love being able to visit (just about) all of Tamriel, and that each land has a distinctive atmosphere-- climate, flora, fauna, people, architecture, etc.

I also love watching all of the other players running around and knowing that they're real people, not just NPCs. It's fun to see how different people have spent time creating their characters, how they range from average (in terms of being similar to a lot of other PCs and NPCs) to extremely unique.

    Just one? Nope.
    1. It's a very good MMO.
    2. It's not as immersive as Skyrim but gets the job done to fill the void after finishing Skyrim for the hundreth time.
    3. It has quite a nice combat system, one that I wish some mod would implement into Skyrim.
    4. There are games that are more p2w and greedy. In comparison to them ESO looks moraly acceptable.
    5. The graphics are great.
    6. I like summoning and mounting my mount with a single key.
    7. I like the fact that high IQ gets rewarded in this game. Irl preparation and equipment are of paramount importance. The same goes for ESO, where a player with excellent build is capable to have significant advantage over other players of similar skill. And "excellent build" isn't just some equipment with the best stats but meticulously researched, tested synergy of multiple sets and skills.

I like levels ESO has gone to expand Khajiit lore. We didn't even know what all the different breeds looked like, but now we know exactly what they look like. I honestly thought Pahmar-raht looked like slighty smaller senche.

I disagree that ESO isn't as immersive as other ES games. I'm not referring to things like interacting with the NPCs, because one thing Oblivion and Skyrim got right was having most NPCs follow a daily schedule, which definitely helps to give a game a more immersive feel in terms of building an alternate reality that has some depth to it. Rather, I'm referring more to how playing ESO taught me to slow down and live in the game's world on a day-to-day basis-- to immerse myself in it, instead of just trying to complete all of the available content.
