Nerfing so many class skills but buffing universal ones? Every class/spec is going to be using the same skills if things go forward with this direction.

I why not buff certain class skill/spammables? It will be harder for work out the balancing with some classes having stronger spammables than others but atleast it will make every class feel different.

zzz... it's slowly coming down to picking a class due to a few select skills. The way it was before was much better than what is.

    Please look st every Magicka or Stamina build, they already have been the same, relying on universal skills outside of classes like

    Caltrops
    Wall of Elements
    Hail
    Bleeds
    ...

    for years. We have so many useless skills in this game that it was about time they go over them and make them viable one way or another. Builds in U23 won’t be less diverse than they are now. With the changes to healing skills some builds might get even more diverse now.

    I agree, I think they're making these changes because they're too lazy to balance class skills in meaningful ways and just want everybody to run the same 10-15 skills that they can tweak every now and then.

    This *** is actually absurd, class identity was already a problem with certain specs and it looks like it's gonna be dead next patch if these changes go live.

    well nerfing all those class aoes, shards, lightning flood, winters revenge.

    Only thing left now for mag classes is class spammables (those with good ones)

    I've been arguing With everyone celebrating caltrops for nerfed because they are tired of all stam set ups using. People have no critical thinking sometimes.

    Magicka classes became 2nd stam in term of "diversity". Class aoe/dots not worth to slot instead of soul trap/touch/entropy.

    There was a fair degree of homogenisation prior to this update but it is seriously worse now. Single target dots are now so strong and numerous for mag toons that spammables are all but gone. Class AoE dots so weak that they’re replaced by non-class ST dots also.

    Rotations are now even more similar between classes with essentially everybody focused not just on maintaining dots but maintaining the all of the exact same dots.

    All toons will now run soul trap as well, both Stam and mag. So you can’t honestly say it’s not worse. I have 12 dps characters but I may as well just have the 1 dark elf because then I can run a standard mag and standard Stam build on one character for minimal effort to switch between them.

    Class identity starts to suffer with so much forced standardization, even if we're not discussing class vs universal skills. Going down this road, we're going to pretty quickly end up with classes being near carbon copies of each other (at least for dps) simply with different visual effects.

    Oh wait. But we're getting shifted out of our class skills to universal ones. So we won't even have our different visuals (which were never the point!). RIP.

    It's not so much that class skills were nerfed. AoE skills across the board were nerfed, and single target DoTs, including class ones, buffed.

    Evidently ZOS doesn't want us to use AoE skills for single target dps, which kind of makes sense. The new non-class DoTs (Entropy, Soul Trap, Destro Reach) don't displace class-DoTs, but spammables, and should therefore be compared to and balanced against those.

    I keep hearing that nerfing AoE dots makes sense but that’s not really true in the context of PvE. So many fights are built around beating the boss while cleaving adds, how well can you do that now?

    In PvP it makes total sense of course where you shouldn’t be able to hit that many targets efficiently.
